Event Update For 2013-07-05

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2013-07-05 - Underground electrical fire hits Staten Island (New York), electricity usage reduced, people bake in the heat:
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/07/06/voltage-reduced-on-staten-island-after-con-edison-manhole-fire/
http://newyork.gotnewswire.com/news/voltage-reduced-on-staten-island-after-con-edison-manhole-fire

Note: There have been many of these underground electrical fires in the last 1.5 years, and especially in the last few months. Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas that will tend to seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities, basements, bodies of water, canyons, valleys, ditches, etc. It's also reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, like cables in underground electrical facilities and battery cables and wiring in vehicles. This same problem is probably the cause of a great many of the non-running vehicles bursting into flames...

2013-07-05 - Metal recycling plant hit by fire and methane explosions at 4 AM in South Beloit (Illinois):
http://www.wifr.com/home/headlines/Fire-Reported-at-South-Beloit-Plant-214365081.html
http://www.beloitdailynews.com/multiple-fire-departments-respond-to-scrap-yard-fire/article_69386676-e585-11e2-8b22-0019bb2963f4.html

Quote: "The plant was not in operation at the time. It is believed the temperature rose too high in the building for some of the metals, sparking a fire."

Note: Is it really that hot around there at 4 AM? Nope, just looked, it was in the lower 70s. Also, hydrogen sulfide is reactive with both copper (especially electrified) and rusty iron/steel, both of which were sure to be in a place like this. And the wee hours are when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane floating in the air above closer to the ground, making fires, explosions and deaths by hydrogen sulfide poisoning more likely during those hours...

2013-07-05 - Auto scrapyard erupts in flame in Brownsville (Texas):

2013-07-05 - RV trailer bursts into flame, nearby home damaged, after 2 AM, in Dexter (Maine):
http://bangordailynews.com/2013/07/05/news/piscataquis/fire-damages-dexter-home-destroys-camper-shed/

Note: Dexter is located right on the shore of Lake Wassookeag. The house was empty, under renovation, and was being purchased by two people living in the camper and working on the house. They were away for the weekend but had two friends there watching the place for them, who were upstairs in the house when the camper burst into flame. And this is why it's probably unwise these days to park vehicles near your home. Hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper like battery cables and other wiring, so a vehicle need not be running to burst into flame, and many vehicles certainly have been spontaneously igniting inside garages, car parks, carports, parking lots, auto shops, parked on streets, boats at docks, etc. You don't know when some hydrogen sulfide is going to blow by and that means you don't know when your vehicle is going to ignite, but if it's got a battery in it, or a pilot light (like many RV appliances do), or any rust on it, then you know that it CAN ignite anytime now...

Quote: "Chinese officials are removing a massive bloom of green algae from beaches and coastal waters covering an area of more than 11,000 square miles. The growth has shown up seven years in a row. Chinese officials blame unusually warm ocean temperatures, but scientists elsewhere say pollution is a major factor."

Note: They're not mutually incompatible things, pollution and unusually warm ocean temps. They're probably both right...

  1. There are also many side articles that fit the JJFH profile. This one was linked from the 38 Detroit fires:

KEENE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - An arson fire Sunday destroyed a historic covered wooden bridge that has spanned the Flat River since the 19th century, authorities in rural western Michigan say.

The fire started about 5:10 a.m. Sunday on Whites Bridge, the Ionia County sheriff's department said. The bridge was built in 1869 in Keene Township, about 15 miles east of Grand Rapids. It was one of the oldest covered bridges in Michigan.

There was no immediate report on how the fire started or who started it.

The bridge collapsed into the river and was still smoldering Sunday morning, MLive.com reported.

"Your heart just sinks," said township resident Bonnie Closson, who came with husband Steve to see the damage. "People don't understand when they do something that there are consequences; how people around here are affected by this."

Closson said she and her husband went kayaking from the bridge site Saturday.

The bridge was repaired after a woman drove her car through the side in 2010, Closson said. She said the county started lighting "our community bridge" during Christmas and said the bridge was a popular spot for area high schoolers to take senior photos.

"How could someone do this?" she asked. "It's historical. Go burn something else."

According to a historic marker, the bridge had hand-hewn trusses covered with rough pine boards, held together with wooden pegs and hand-cut square iron nails. The cost at the time was $1,700, the marker said.

"It's not something you can replace," said Debra Scheffler of Grand Rapids, putting into the river with a kayak. "You can put up another bridge but it won't be the same."

    1. Yes indeed, that one certainly fits the profile: wood bridge, over a river, with iron nails (probably rusty), and burned in the wee hours. Thanks for pointing that one out!

Hydrogen Sulphide gets a mention there too. Must be when the algae dies then the H2S producing organisms thrive in the decaying matter.

    1. Wow, those are some incredible photos. Not surprised they mentioned hydrogen sulfide. It all goes together. The waters get warm, the algae goes nuts. That drains the oxygen, which kills marine life. The low-oxygen environment is what the bacteria that produce hydrogen sulfide need, and now they've got all the dead marine life to eat right there, so they go crazy reproducing in a suddenly-hospitable environment (for them) that is also loaded with food. And then the gas kills more marine life, which makes more food, which makes more bacteria, which makes more hydrogen sulfide, and so on.
