Event Update For 2018-08-19

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2018-08-19 - Unquenchable underground fire burning and spewing sulfurous smell, people sickening and dying, in Anambra State (Nigeria):

Quote: "The lignite, which sends out gas with irritating sulphurous odour, has also led to the admission of scores of residents in different hospitals in the area."

Quote: "“Last night [Friday], after a little rain, we were unable to sleep. The most astonishing thing is that we have been recording sudden deaths in recent time. 'Within a space of two months, we have lost seven persons and we do not known the cause of their death. But if you put two and two together, you find out that it is not natural death. We never recorded that number of deaths in the past in this community,' he lamented."

Quote: "Surroundings of the chemical site are caving in and the emission becomes stronger. We have tried to put out the fire burning underground to no avail and we decided to leave the rains to deal with it. 'But despite the heavy rains so far experienced this year, the fire has been as if the rains are fueling it.'"

Note: Lignite is like really low-grade coal made from compressed peat. There's no sulfur in it, so what's that sulfur smell they're smelling? Maybe there's been some hydrogen sulfide falling in the rain, or there's some in the ground there, or both. That would cause the sulfur odor AND help fuel the fire AND cause people to sicken and die…

  1. Do they have Chupacabras in India? They DO have tigers and such though.

It's "nice" when the pace of death and destruction levels off to "bearable" around here. When we get those big spike events (large die-offs, earthquakes, huge storms, record flooding, giant firestorms, and landslides e.g.), a sort of numbness can set in due to the human mind's inability to cope real well with overwhelming events. Unfortunately, these "calm" periods don't last long.

  2. Australia PM abandons carbon emissions legislation – “The federal government has now completely capitulated on emissions and climate change, and abandoned the Paris climate change commitments”

Malcolm Turnbull will face the verdict of his colleagues in a tense party room meeting on Tuesday, after effectively abandoning the government’s signature energy policy in what could be a fruitless attempt to stay ahead of a full blown leadership crisis.

The prime minister announced on Monday the national energy guarantee – the policy the government has argued for months is necessary to create investment certainty in Australia’s energy sector – had been shelved indefinitely because he could not proceed with it in the face of opposition from within his own party. India floods declared a “calamity of severe nature” – More than 700,000 people sheltering in 5,645 relief camps

The massive flood in Kerala has been declared a calamity of severe nature, the Union home ministry said on Monday.

"Keeping in view the intensity and magnitude of the floods and landslides in Kerala, this is a calamity of a severe nature for all practical purposes," a home ministry official said.

At least 216 people have lost their lives in the rains, floods and landslides in Kerala where over 7.24 lakh displaced people have been sheltered in 5,645 relief camps. [1 lakh = 100,000]

As rains abated and rescue operations were in the final stages, flood-hit Kerala was faced with the gigantic task of rehabilitating lakhs of people rendered homeless and preventing outbreak of diseases. [more]

Summer weather is getting “stuck” due to Arctic warming – “What happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic”

Summer weather patterns are increasingly likely to stall in Europe, North America, and parts of Asia, according to a new climate study that explains why Arctic warming is making heatwaves elsewhere more persistent and dangerous. [Jennifer Francis and Paul Beckwith have described this in detail]

Rising temperatures in the Arctic have slowed the circulation of the jet stream and other giant planetary winds, says the paper, which means high and low pressure fronts are getting stuck and weather is less able to moderate itself. [more]

  3. Think Rivers Are Dangerous Now? Just Wait

If humanity can hold global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C—and many climate scientists think it may already be too late for that—loss of life from river flooding could go up as much as 83 percent from the current yearly average of 5,700. For 2 degrees, that jumps to as much as 134 percent; 3 degrees, 265 percent.

As for damages, the global average from river flooding is currently about $110 billion a year. With a 1.5 degree rise, the models predict that could jump 240 percent; for 2 degrees it’s 520 percent, and for 3 degrees it’s a stunning 1,000 percent increase, or a new total of $1.25 trillion a year. Eerie sky glow is 'completely unknown' to science

According to researchers at the University of Calgary in Canada and the University of California, Los Angeles, Steve does not contain the telltale traces of charged particles blasting through Earth's atmosphere that auroras do. Steve, therefore, is not an aurora at all, but something entirely different: a mysterious, largely unexplained phenomenon that the researchers have dubbed a "sky glow."

"Our main conclusion is that STEVE is not an aurora," lead study author Bea Gallardo-Lacourt, a space physicist at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, said in a statement. "So right now, we know very little about it. And that's the cool thing." [more]
