Event Update For 2018-08-05

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

    Now That Facebook, YouTube And Apple Have Come For Alex Jones, Now They Will Start Coming After The Rest Of Us

    August 6th was one of darkest days in the history of the Internet. When I learned that Facebook, YouTube, Apple, Spotify, Pinterest and others had colluded to take down content from Alex Jones all on the same day, I knew exactly what was happening. They timed their attack so that it would hit the press at the beginning of the weekly news cycle on Monday so that their purge would have maximum societal impact. And the fact that there was such overt collusion was obviously meant to send a message. We were supposed to understand that if they can do this to Alex Jones, they can do it to any of us, and so we better shut up and fall in line. I can’t even begin to tell you how sick I feel right now. The big tech giants have made it abundantly clear how they feel about all of us, and there is no future for alternative points of view on any of their platforms.

  3. Planet at risk of heading toward “Hothouse Earth” state – “Places on Earth will become uninhabitable”

    An international team of scientists has published a study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) showing that even if the carbon emission reductions called for in the Paris Agreement are met, there is a risk of Earth entering what the scientists call “Hothouse Earth” conditions.

    A “Hothouse Earth” climate will in the long term stabilize at a global average of 4-5°C higher than pre-industrial temperatures with sea level 10-60 m higher than today, the paper says.

    The authors conclude it is now urgent to greatly accelerate the transition towards an emission-free world economy. [more; of course they still think there's a way to "fix" it]

    [commentary on Trump's recent statements regarding CA fires]
    Trump blames California water policies for wildfires – Firefighters and scientists push back – “He clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about”

    LeRoy Westerling, a professor at the University of California, Merced, who studies wildfires and climatology, told the Chronicle that Trump’s tweet on Sunday “boggles the mind.”

    “Even if we eliminated all habitat for riparian species and fish, and allowed saltwater intrusion into the delta and set up a sprinkler system over the state, that wouldn’t compensate for greater moisture loss from climate change,” he said. [more]

    Climate change omitted from list of White House research and development priorities

    (Silencing Science Tracker) – On 31 July 2018, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a memorandum outlining the Trump Administration’s research and development (R&D) “priorities.” The memorandum is intended to “provide[] guidance to [federal] agencies as they formulate their Fiscal Year 2020 budget submissions.”

    The memorandum indicates that federal R&D funding should be “focused primarily on basic and early-stage applied research.” It identifies eight “R&D Priority Areas” as follows:

    Security of the American people;
    American leadership in artificial intelligence, quantum information sciences, and strategic computing;
    American connectivity and autonomy;
    American manufacturing;
    American space exploration and commercialization;
    American energy dominance;
    American medical innovation; and
    American agriculture. [how to grow grain without water . . .]

    Notably absent from the memorandum is any discussion of climate change. This is a marked departure from previous versions, issued during the Obama administration, which identified “global climate change” as a key R&D priority. [more; clearly, even after 8 years of "R & D" Obama didn't do much to stop all the pollution]

    "World weather issues" see rise in grain prices with lowest global yield in five years

    Exporters face becoming importers this season - for example, Sweden - while Germany, usually a significant exporter, is almost a domestic market, commented David Sheppard, managing director of Gleadell.

    "World weather issues are dictating prices. Global production is going backwards, as is the volume of wheat available for export markets. [more]

    'Gargoyle' seen in eastern Massachusetts

    [witness from Abington, MA] It looked black with a wing span upon flight maybe 4-5ft. The creature itself while crouched on the roof looked the size of a smaller human maybe 4ft. I watched it trying to figure out what I was looking at, for maybe 1 minute, then it jumped and flew off. Even when it flew away it still looked on the shorter end. As it flew, its legs hung but still in an almost crouching position. It wasn't a massive creature but it was definitely humanoid in appearance. [more]
