The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

Note: These mysterious explosions which have been reported all around the world are likely atmospheric hydrogen sulfide and/or methane plumes igniting. When they're smallish then they're described as 'popping sounds', which have been heard right before a great many fires in the last year or two. Those smallish explosions may be mistakenly identified as gunfire or fireworks, since explosions of that size sound like other explosions of that size. When these explosions are very large then they may shake buildings for miles around. Over time, as the atmospheric contamination proceeds, these explosions may rival the explosions generated by small thermonuclear bombs, like the one that destroyed Hiroshima, but minus any radiation (unless the explosion blows apart a nuclear plant, and since many nuclear plants are along coasts that's not unlikely).
