Event Update For 2021-01-30

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Is ‘The Reddit Army’ On The Verge Of Creating The Most Epic Silver Short Squeeze In U.S. History?

In all of the years that I have written about precious metals, I have never seen anything like this. The corporate media is breathlessly reporting that “the Reddit Army” plans to do to silver what it did to GameStop, and this has caused a frenzy of buying and a severe shortage of physical silver at dealers all across the United States. If things are this crazy already, what is going to happen when the short squeeze actually begins? For now, “the Reddit Army” is still primarily focused on GameStop and other stocks that major hedge funds have been relentlessly short selling, and in recent days members of that army have actually been purchasing billboard ads to celebrate their success…

there continues to be quite a bit of discussion on r/WallStreetBets about the potential for a silver short squeeze. [more]

These Are The Shadowy New York Financial Institutions That Forced Robinhood To Restrict Trading In Certain Stocks

Have you ever heard of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation? What about Cede and Company? If those names are foreign to you, then you don’t really understand how the core of our financial system really works. A lot of people are blaming Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and the heads of other major trading platforms for the stock trading restrictions that we witnessed last week, but it was actually the DTCC that suddenly jacked up deposit requirements ten-fold. Robinhood and other trading platforms were put in a vise-like grip, and they had no choice but to act. Someone needs to investigate how these decisions were made at the DTCC, and if laws were broken those that were responsible for the decisions need to go to prison.

We are being told that retail traders needed to be brought under control “for their own good”, but it was the reckless short selling of the big hedge funds that actually set the stage of last week’s chaos.

Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about restricting their exceedingly foolish trading strategies?

Thanks to relentless buying by “the Reddit Army”, several major hedge funds got absolutely slaughtered last week

Theoretically, the DTCC is supposed to be a neutral participant in the markets.

But as we saw last week, that is definitely not the case. [more]

Sea lions are dying from a mysterious cancer in California - the culprits? Herpes and DDT

Now, after two decades of study, an all-star team of marine mammal pathologists, virology experts, chemists and geneticists say they've connected two surprising culprits: Herpes and toxic chemicals, like DDT and PCBs, that poisoned the California coast decades ago.

The ocean is clearly hurting, researchers say, and this mysterious cancer in so many sea lions carries a troubling warning for humans.

"Sea lions, they're coming up on the beach, using the same waters that we swim and surf in, eating a lot of the same seafood that we eat," said Gulland, who has served on the U.S. Marine Mammal Commission since the Obama administration and is now a research associate at UC Davis. "They're predisposed to cancer by these high levels of legacy compounds that are still in the environment — and we are also exposed to these chemicals." [more]

A miracle! Only 23 Americans tested positive for flu last week compared to 14,657 cases reported last year at same time

Do you ever get the feeling you're being lied to?

450,390 people have now died WITH the coronavirus in the US this year.

That number includes poisonings, shootings, homicides and hospice deaths.

The Gateway Pundit reported news from the CDC in August that only 6% of all deaths in the US classified as Coronavirus deaths actually died from the China Coronavirus exclusively.

That means the number of those poor people who died from the coronavirus exclusively is much, much lower than the headlines.
[gotta keep the fear porn flowing so we can be herded into doing what we're told]

The number of flu cases in the US is at an all-time low this flu season.

Doctors and health experts say the large number of people who got flu vaccines leading into this year's flu season, combined with social distancing and other measures designed to help slow the spread of COVID-19, are likely contributors for the steep drop.

[SOTT]Comment: Yeah right! Flu shots and social distancing has made the flu all but disappear? For the first time in known history? Not bloody likely! [more]

North Atlantic storm forecast to produce massive 60-foot waves and boat breaks in two

As presented this morning in my newsletter, the NOAA Ocean Prediction Center is predicting seas in excess of 60 feet associated with a low pressure system that has rapidly intensified in the North Atlantic off the northeast coast of the U.S.

  4. Brazil guts agencies, ‘sabotaging environmental protection’ in Amazon: Report

A new report documents draconian budget cuts to Brazilian environmental monitoring and firefighting of 9.8% in 2020, and 27.4% in 2021 — reductions, analysts say that were inflicted by the Bolsonaro administration in “a clear policy for dismantling national environmental policies.”
Brazil’s environmental agencies under Bolsonaro have also been subjected to nearly 600 administrative and rules changes, invoked by presidential executive order and resulting in massive environmental deregulation.

Under Bolsonaro, deforestation has soared, with an increase of 34% in the last two years, even as capacity to punish environmental criminals fell sharply due to funding shortages. Fines imposed for illegal deforestation, instead of rising during this Amazon environmental crime wave, fell by 42% from 2019 to 2020.
Faced with Bolsonaro’s gutting of environmental agencies and protections, two Indigenous leaders — Kayapo Chief Raoni Metuktire, and Paiter Surui Chief Almir Narayamoga Surui — have asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague to investigate President Bolsonaro for “crimes against humanity.” [more; watch for their demise]

Death by 1,000 cuts: Are major insect losses imperiling life on Earth?

Scientists warn of ongoing global insect abundance losses and say we lack a full understanding of invertebrate extinction causes and synergies. Action to curb extinction rates desperately needed: Studies.

New studies, featured in a recent edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, assess insect declines around the planet.
On average, the decline in insect abundance is thought to be around 1-2% per year or 10-20% per decade. These losses are being seen on nearly every continent, even within well-protected areas.
Precipitous insect declines are being escalated by humanity as soaring population and advanced technology push us ever closer to overshooting several critical planetary boundaries including biodiversity, climate change, nitrification, and pollution. Planetary boundary overshoot could threaten the viability of life on Earth.
Action on a large scale (international, national, and public/private policymaking), and on a small scale (replacing lawns with insect-friendly habitat, for example) are desperately needed to curb and reverse insect decline. [more]

Hermann Hesse on What Trees Teach Us About Belonging and Life [some excerpts]

When we are stricken and cannot bear our lives any longer, then a tree has something to say to us: Be still! Be still! Look at me! Life is not easy, life is not difficult. Those are childish thoughts. . . . Home is neither here nor there. Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all.

When we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy. Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree. He wants to be nothing except what he is. That is home. That is happiness. [read the whole passage]
