Event Update For 2018-01-24

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "A UGI Utilities official told Hanrahan the odor was not gas related. The smell may have come from a passing train, he said."

Note: So they don't know where it came from, just that it came from a source from outside the school. Like, say, the atmosphere...

2018-01-24 - University damaged by nitric acid explosion in Alberta (Canada):

Quote: "Classes at the University of Alberta’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Research Facility were briefly interrupted as the building was evacuated after a nitric acid explosion on Wednesday afternoon."

Note: I've mentioned the nitric acid problem before with previous nitric acid fires and explosions. Nitric acid is a strong acid and dangerous to touch, but it has a flammability index of 0, just like water, and by itself it is not flammable and does not explode. From Wiki: "Flash point: Non-flammable". However, nitric acid is explosively flammable if it comes into contact with gaseous hydrogen sulfide. So if any nitric acid leaks at all and there's any hydrogen sulfide in the air or adsorbed onto materials with which the nitric acid comes into contact, THEN an explosion and/or fire may result...

We must fix the broken water cycle before it dooms civilization—again
The massive water systems that undergird our civilization involve a Faustian bargain: They allow us to control water to suit our needs, but in doing so they break the water cycle—the natural storage, cleansing and flow of water in healthy forests, rivers, soils, wetlands, and aquifers.

The Biggest Year Yet For U.S. Shale
As the article point out, the shale-drilling industry has never been profitable, even when oil was at $100/bbl. So don't hold your breath. And as I've observed, shale drilling is a sign of energy desperation. If there were any profitable oil left in the US, the industry would have better things to do than drill for shale oil, so the fact that they are going all-out on this junk oil shows how critical the situation has become. -- RF

  5. Loud, mystery boom rattles residents in southern Maine

Residents in parts of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel were left startled and baffled earlier this week when what was described as a loud boom was heard and felt across the area on two occasions, with no one able to pinpoint the cause.

"I can't believe it was thunder. This was felt and heard from Cape Porpoise to Waterboro. Then two series of popping noises like semi-automatic gun fire," Kennebunk resident Wendy Lank said. "It was so loud, it really made me uneasy." [more]

  6. Greenland is shedding ice like a popsicle on defrost due to geothermal energy from Earth’s deep interior

Greenland is shedding ice like a popsicle on defrost. And some of Greenland’s fast-flowing glaciers feel the burn of a heat source that hails from Earth’s deep interior. A new study is among the first direct measurements of geothermal heat flux in Greenland. This heat source – enough power to light up roughly 1,600 American homes – lubricates the base of overlying glaciers, accelerating their journey toward the sea. [more]

The State Of The False Profit

This will forever be known as the era of rapacious exploitation...

The Boomer generation just assumes that they can borrow unlimited amounts of money from future generations and the rest of the world. They will be shocked to learn that they can't. The Boomers spent their parent's (inherited) money, their own money, their children's future, and their grandchildren's future - on tax cuts for bailed out billionaires, and military blunders. They're the most rapacious generation in human history. They can't get monkey hammered soon enough. More theft is never enough for them...
