The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Their symptoms went away once they left the building, city officials said. Some patients were taken to other hospitals, the office said. No injuries have been reported. The evacuations are out of precaution, Atmos said. Kyle Rouvaldt with the City of Forney said the cause of the odor may be from a sewer line, not a natural gas leak, as there are no pipes of that nature going to the facility."
Quote: "Reports of headaches and nausea that prompted an evacuation of a North Texas hospital Tuesday morning were caused by sewer gas, fire officials say."
Note: There are two 'sewer gases', methane and hydrogen sulfide. Methane is odorless and people smelled something here so that means it was hydrogen sulfide...

ReplyDeleteSubmerged permafrost releasing methane, but not into the atmosphere
https://arstechnica.com/science/2018/01/microbes-chomp-on-seafloor-methane-before-it-reaches-the-atmosphere/
A group of researchers led by Kathryn Sparrow headed to the Beaufort Sea in the Canadian Arctic to bring an improved measurement technique to bear on an important question: how much of the methane in the sea floor is ending up in our atmosphere?
A different group of scientists working offshore of Siberia has sounded alarms about plumes of methane it observed [link] bubbling up from the seafloor there. Researchers are trying to work out how warming is affecting that bubbling methane and what it will do in the future.
Studies off Svalbard have found that methane bubble plumes there pre-date human-caused climate change. And, counterintuitively, those plumes have been shown to actually cause a net removal of atmospheric greenhouse gas by stimulating the growth of plankton that consume CO2.
The surface water measurements are another story, though. Closer to shore, the team found a fair portion of ancient methane at the surface. But once the water got around 30 meters deep, the ancient methane all but disappeared from surface waters, accounting for 10 percent or less of the total methane dissolved in the water.
That indicates that things like hungry microbes are effectively preventing the methane that's being released on the seafloor from reaching the atmosphere once the water is deep enough. Since most of the Beaufort Sea is more than 30 meters deep, that means Beaufort seafloor methane isn’t being directly dumped into the atmosphere, even if warmer water is causing the seafloor to produce more.
In other words, the news is good, assuming other areas of the Arctic Ocean are behaving similarly. [more]
[Okay, stop right there. What I feel they're leaving out of this supposed "good news" is that the "microbes" they speak of are the same ones Jonny refers to in his full JJF Hypothesis - that these little buggers eat the methane, BUT PRODUCE HYDROGEN SULFIDE! So if a bunch of it is being taken up by microbes, they're making more and more H2S in the process. Notice they didn't measure THAT, and probably aren't even thinking about it.
Another thing is that they're dealing with the SUNKEN permafrost that is covered by (now) warming waters. They fail to mention the VAST STORES of permafrost ON LAND that's also thawing - and releasing its methane contribution directly to the atmosphere.
Waddya say, Jonny? Am I on the right track here?]
The article I sited in my last comment was written by a Scott (K) Johnson. That's right, that methane doesn't even have to reach the atmosphere to be a huge problem, since some of the ancient anaerobic bacteria and archaea that produce hydrogen sulfide eat biomatter AND METHANE. More food for them if it doesn't reach the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there's a crapload of methane entering the atmosphere, so they're missing something somewhere. Maybe it's not reaching the atmosphere from the shallow hydrates but maybe it is from the deep ocean, or maybe it's coming from shallow lakes as mentioned in that recent science article. Doesn't really matter where it's coming from - just that there's more of it entering the atmosphere. Like being killed by a rain of bullets. 'Well, we thought the bullets were coming from the south, not the east!' Hey, you're still dead from the rain of bullets, so does the direction they came from really matter that much?!
Just the fracking operations alone are releasing tons of methane and now, due to Trump, they don't even have to monitor it and shut down for awhile if it exceeds the now meaningless EPA imposed "safety" levels. All these morons who keep getting high on hopium, and then keep trying to get others high on it too never cease to amaze me. False hope is still false.
ReplyDeleteBy the way that's "cited" not "sited" - geez.
