The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "An investigation is ongoing after the 63-year-old woman's son and grandchildren found her face down and covered in snow outside their home in the 2900 block of Rockford."
Note: She collapsed unconscious or dead, her knees buckled and she face-planted. Then, if she wasn't already dead, she froze to death, quietly, just feet from her home. Anyone can lose consciousness or drop dead anywhere and anytime now. If you just collapse unconscious then what you're doing and the environment around you will determine if you ever regain consciousness. In the cold of winter or in serious heat in the summer, the odds are that you're gonna die unless someone is around to see you collapse and help...

Get Your Hands Off Our Weed: Republicans disapprove of Sessions marijuana directive
https://www.sott.net/article/373118-Get-Your-Hands-Off-Our-Weed-Republicans-disapprove-of-Sessions-marijuana-directive
[probably because a lot of them have invested heavily in it]
Charlie Baker, the Republican Governor of Massachusetts, called the Sessions policy "the wrong decision," while pledging to "review any potential impacts." Republican Governor Brian Sandoval of Nevada told The Daily Beast in a statement that he believed "Nevada's marijuana industry is a model for other states." Bill Walker, the Independent Governor of Alaska, called the decision "disappointing," adding that he was "committed to upholding the will of Alaskans on this issue and maintaining our State's sovereign rights to manage our own affairs while protecting federal interests." Alaska became the third state to legalize recreational marijuana in 2015.
And on the Hill, Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) went a step further saying that he would hold up the confirmation of future Department of Justice staff unless the Sessions policy was changed. [more]
Heading for a big one? Series of small earthquakes hit San Andreas fault
https://www.sott.net/article/373116-Heading-for-a-big-one-Series-of-small-earthquakes-hit-San-Andreas-fault
Earthquakes have hit California sparking frantic speculation the terrifying 'big one' is on its way.
In the last 48 hours, the southwestern State in the US has been rocked by eight tremors, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
All but three of the tremors have come along the San Andreas fault - a deadly line which runs through California and is one of the most seismically active regions in the world.
The strongest of the quakes came in Berkeley, near the east coast of California, which measured 4.4 on the Richter scale. [more]

Earth Changes: Current extreme weather linked to HUMAN for the first time
http://strangesounds.org/2018/01/earth-changes-extreme-weather-linked-to-human-first-time.html
The weird weather just keeps on coming. An oppressive heatwave dubbed Lucifer stifled Europe in August, then a series of powerful Atlantic hurricanes hammered the Americas. Unseasonably hot and dry conditions are driving wildfires in California. Now, powerful bomb cyclone winter storms propagate on the eastern coast of the USA, bringing unprecedented snow in Florida and Georgia as well as blizzard, hurricane winds and major flooding in the Northeast. During and after such events, the same question always arises: WHAT IS TO BLAME!?!
Now, for the first time, climate researchers are reporting that some weather events would have been outright impossible without the warming influence of humanity’s greenhouse-gas emissions.
This kind of confident assertion rarely makes its way into the scientific literature. Yet it appeared in three studies included in a special annual edition of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS) dedicated to attributing the causes of extreme weather events.
What’s more, the paper indicates that greenhouse gases began to push the climate outside the realm of natural variability around 1980. [more]
Rare explosive cyclogenesis of East Coast cyclone, return interval 25 - 30 years
https://watchers.news/2018/01/05/rare-explosive-cyclogenesis-of-east-coast-cyclone-return-interval-25-30-years/
Although not unprecedented, the explosive deepening of mid-latitude cyclone over this part of the Western Atlantic during winter (where central pressure drops more than 50 hPa in 24 hours) as witnessed on Thursday, January 4, 2018 is rare, NWS said. Detailed records over the past 45 - 50 years suggest a return interval for this event, in this area, may occur every 25 - 30 years. The storm will pull away from New England by the end of Friday and move into Canada. Very cold temperatures and wind chills will follow for much of the eastern third of US. [more]

If we strip away the pretense of democracy, what is the core of our political System? Answer: control fraud, which I define as those with control/ power in centralized institutions enriching themselves at the expense of the citizenry by selectively modifying what's permissible, and doing so in a fully legally compliant process, i.e. within the letter of the law if not the intent of the law.

ReplyDeleteYesterday two people crested a hill and started down the other side (somewhere in the Philly environs) only to realize that they couldn't stop. That was Just the beginning of their ordeal - there was a train track at the bottom of the hill, the safety barrier was down and the lights were flashing! One person jumped out of the out of control car, but the other didn't (or couldn't - likely the driver) and the car crashed through the barrier, got totally destroyed by the train and the person of course died. All because of the snow/ice covered road.
Either that or the driver, or both driver and passenger, had a "medical episode" and were unconscious.

A major Beijing Belt, Road Inititative security fiasco is emerging
https://www.sott.net/article/373174-A-major-Beijing-Belt-Road-Inititative-security-fiasco-is-emerging
A major security fiasco involving a major China state company and a Hong Kong-based corporate security company is emerging. It could potentially open up the massive Eurasian project of China, its Belt, Road Initiative (BRI), to major covert sabotage directed out of Langley Virginia CIA headquarters and carried out by a "Trojan Horse" the Chinese have hired to train their personnel to protect the high-speed Eurasian rail and deep water ports infrastructure from sabotage and terror attacks. The Hong Kong company is owned by Erik Prince, notorious founder of Blackwater Security.
At the same time Prince is being paid by the Chinese to protect their BRI, he is reportedly plotting with Trump and CIA chief Mike Pompeo to form a "private CIA, completely off the books" that would do black operations in many of the Eurasian countries linked to the BRI. This is shaping up as a major security fiasco for China's BRI if left uncorrected. [more]

Users check their phones up to 85 times a day, interact more with their phones than they do with other people and live in a state of continuous distraction. Warnings of the dangers of smartphone overuse have fallen on deaf ears as the technology has invaded every aspect of life. Researchers are finding that as we become more dependent on smartphone apps our cognitive capacities weaken considerably and we are left dumbed down, moody and distanced from reality. [more]
'We are property' - 'Zoo Theory' finally explains why aliens haven't contacted us yet
https://www.sott.net/article/373180-We-are-property-Zoo-Theory-finally-explains-why-aliens-havent-contacted-us-yet
So if there are intelligent aliens out there, why haven't seen even the slightest evidence of their existence?
The so-called "Zoo Theory" hopes to explain this, and the logic is pretty much what you'd expect from its title.
MIT radio astronomer John A Ball has proposed the theory that the planet Earth is a kind of nature preserve, overseen by caretaker aliens who keep us from making contact with anyone else in the universe.
Ball has even written a paper documenting his theory, claiming that occasionally spotted UFOs are in fact the signs of Extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) aliens, who slip up every now and then in their goal of observing, but never interfering, with our species' social order. [more]

Declining oxygen in the global ocean and coastal waters
Beneath the waves, oxygen disappears
As plastic waste pollutes the oceans and fish stocks decline, unseen below the surface another problem grows: deoxygenation. Breitburg et al. review the evidence for the downward trajectory of oxygen levels in increasing areas of the open ocean and coastal waters. Rising nutrient loads coupled with climate change—each resulting from human activities—are changing ocean biogeochemistry and increasing oxygen consumption. This results in destabilization of sediments and fundamental shifts in the availability of key nutrients. In the short term, some compensatory effects may result in improvements in local fisheries, such as in cases where stocks are squeezed between the surface and elevated oxygen minimum zones. In the longer term, these conditions are unsustainable and may result in ecosystem collapses, which ultimately will cause societal and economic harm.

ReplyDeleteNew largest prime number discovered
https://www.sott.net/article/373178-New-largest-prime-number-discovered
The newly found number has 23,249,425 digits, nearly one million digits more than the previous record holder, discovered a year ago. Here comes the math: the new prime number is calculated by multiplying together 77,232,917 twos, and then subtracting one.
"Just how big is a 23,249,425 digit number?" the site asks. "It's huge!! Big enough to fill an entire shelf of books totaling 9,000 pages! If every second you were to write five digits to an inch then 54 days later you'd have a number stretching over 73 miles (118 kilometers) -- almost 3 miles (5 kilometers) longer than the previous record prime." Headin' out in 11 degree weather to hear some music (that's before wind chill, which is significant, is added).
