Event Update For 2017-12-17

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Another temperature record set in November

Last month was +0.87 degrees Celsius warmer than the mean November temperature from 1951-1980, an insignificant 0.03°C cooler than November 2016 (+0.90°C). The warmest month of November according to the analysis happened in 2015 (+1.03°C) due to a strong El Niño. The last three Novembers — 2015, 2016, and 2017 — are the three warmest in the entire modern record. [more]

Two billion-dollar weather disasters in November 2017

Two billion-dollar weather disasters hit the Earth last month, according to the November 2017 Catastrophe Report from insurance broker Aon Benfield: Typhoon Demrey in Vietnam ($1 billion), and a drought in the U.S. Northern Plains and Rockies ($2.5 billion). In addition, damages from the summer Western U.S. wildfire season (not including the devastating October wildfires in California’s wine country and December fires near Los Angeles) were tabulated by the end of November to have reached $2 billion. Through the end of November, Earth had 27 billion-dollar weather events for the year, which is a typical number for this point in the year. The year that ended with the most billion-dollar weather disasters in records going back to 1990 was 2013, with 41; that year had 39 billion-dollar disasters by the end of November. Last year, there were 31 billion-dollar weather disasters by the end of November, which was the final tally for the year. Here are 2017’s billion-dollar weather disasters through the end of November: [more; see list]

  3. Scientists have beaten down the best climate denial argument

A new study published in Nature by Stanford scientists Patrick Brown and Ken Caldeira found that so far, the global climate models that best simulate the Earth’s global energy imbalance tend to predict the most future global warming. These results suggest the ECS is around 3.7°C. This is higher than the previous best estimate of 3.1°C, and if correct, would shrink our carbon budget by about 15%. [more]

Trump’s EPA Starts Process for Replacing Clean Power Plan

The Environmental Protection Agency said Monday it will ask the public for input on how to replace the Clean Power Plan, the Obama administration's key regulation aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
The main effect may be to leave the Obama rule in limbo. The Clean Power Plan was put on hold by the Supreme Court pending litigation that was under way before Donald Trump took office on a promise to undo it.
In an "advanced notice of proposed rulemaking"—a first step in the long process of crafting regulation—the EPA said it is "soliciting information on the proper and respective roles of the state and federal governments" in setting emissions limits on greenhouse gases. [more]

  5. Pipeline explosion in Central Texas....

  6. Flames engulf vehicle in La Grange, TX. The southeastern part of central Texas. The gas is really jumping around here lately!

    1. I forgot to mention that your first story on the widespread reports about a gas smell in Kyle, TX is an area that's only about 15 miles south of where I live. Today we've had a tropical spring type day with thuderstorms and showers flowing up from the south, which means the gulf. We've had quite a bit of rain over the past three weeks, including that one snow event. I think there will be more hydrogen sulfide related events in the coming days and weeks. The car engulfed in flames outside of La Grange is due east, almost in a straight line, of Kyle. The natural gas line that exploded is due north of La Grange. All in a relatively close area as the crow flies, or as the gas plumes I should say.

    2. Yeah, there are definitely 'clusters' of events happening now. People don't put things together because the events aren't exactly the same. An exploding gas line, a car fire, a rotten egg odor - it just doesn't seem to occur to people that all of those things might have a single underlying factor. And people in general are not all that incredibly observant either, to even notice all of those things. There's a whole lot of 'normalcy bias' out there too.
