Event Update For 2015-12-13

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2015-12-13 - Update on passenger plane that exploded on the Sinai peninsula in Egypt: Egypt says no evidence of bomb:

Quote: "Egypt said on Monday it had found no evidence so far of terrorism or other illegal action linked to the crash of a Russian passenger plane in Sinai that killed all 224 people on board on Oct. 31."

Note: Heh, both Egypt and Russia have reasons to lie. Egypt might lie about it not being a bomb, since they don't want to lose tourism money. Russia might lie about it being a bomb, since they don't want to lose Airbus money. Russia initially said there was no explosive residue too. But maybe Russia realized that might be kinda bad for Airbus, and they flip-flopped after two weeks. So there's 1 vote for no explosives (Egypt), plus 0.5 votes for no explosives (Russia initially) and 0.5 votes for explosives (Russia later). So that's 1.5 votes for no explosives versus 0.5 votes for explosives. Looks like 'no explosives' wins. Go democracy!

  1. Thanks Jonny - yet another (rusty) nail in the coffin of civilization.

The list of strange stuff bursting into flame was added to today with a UNICYCLE (no motor, non-electric, and brand new), and we have a (relatively rare) FEMALE zombie account!

Lots of multiple vehicle and multiple home (not to mention garage) fires (this is getting expensive!) and two people dropping dead in the same place at different times (the porta potty outside Bengal's stadium).

Well, we have to continue along until we can't, so here's some more to add to the pile (of evidence that we're done).

Truck driver says he blacked out before fatal tour bus wreck

A tractor-trailer driver says a medical condition caused him to black out before a crash in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains that killed two Italian tourists aboard a charter bus and its driver.

Franklin Wyatt said he hasn't operated a tractor-trailer since the June 3 wreck and might never get behind the wheel of a semi again. He has been sued by one of the surviving bus passengers, and state police are still investigating.

A veteran truck driver with more than 35 years of experience, Wyatt, 56, of Macomb, Oklahoma, said he has nightmares about the crash. [more]

This Is What A Financial Crisis Looks Like

Just within the past few days, three major high yield funds have completely imploded, and panic is spreading rapidly on Wall Street. Funds run by Third Avenue Management and Stone Lion Capital Partners have suspended payments to investors, and a fund run by Lucidus Capital Partners has liquidated its entire portfolio. We are witnessing a race for the exits unlike anything that we have seen since the great financial crash of 2008, and many of those that choose to hesitate are going to end up getting totally wiped out. In case you are wondering, this is what a financial crisis looks like. [more]

DNA dates dog domestication back 33,000 years

All dogs alive today can trace at least some of their ancestry back to dogs that were domesticated 33,000 years ago in southern East Asia, suggests one of the most extensive ever investigations of canine DNA.

In addition to pinpointing the place and time for the earliest dog domestication, the new study, published in the journal Cell Research, found that the first domesticated dogs descended from grey wolves that likely came from China.

Earth May Spin Faster as Glaciers Melt

Melting ice triggered by global warming may make Earth whirl faster than before and could shift the axis on which the planet spins, researchers say.

This could also affect sunset times, as the length of Earth's day depends on the speed at which the planet rotates on its axis. Prior research found the rate at which Earth spins has changed over time.

How global warming is literally making your day longer

Solving a scientific mystery over 20 years old, a team of Harvard researchers published a paper proving global warming's role in slowing the Earth's rotation.

  5. Alaska Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Spokane

A smoke-filled cabin forced an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Spokane to make an emergency landing.

Alaska spokeswoman Halley Knigge said flight 2372 landed safely in Spokane at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday with 75 passengers and 4 crewmembers on board. There were no injuries.

Knigge said about 15 minutes prior to landing passengers reported "heavy smoke" throughout the cabin. She said the cause is unknown and the Bombardier Q400 has been taken out of service and will be inspected.

Passenger Ryan Mitrovich told The Associated Press that after the smoke was detected flight attendants walked up and down the aisle looking for the source, and soon afterward, the pilot announced they'd be making an emergency landing.

"By the time we did land there was a good cloud of smoke in the cabin," Mitrovich said.
