Note: So not a bomb or a missile, but there WAS an explosion and fire. Sounds very much like an upper-atmosphere methane explosion. Nothing else seems to fit the facts. This was likely just a larger version of the 'flash of light' that knocked a medical helicopter out of the sky and killed both people aboard in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma), mentioned in the 2013-03-13 update. We'll be seeing more of this as the atmosphere is increasingly contaminated, and it should be interesting to see how people try to spin things in order to avoid reality. Like Ayn Rand once said, 'You can avoid reality but you can't avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.' People dying in planes is the consequence of avoiding reality in this case.
