http://newsfixnow.com/2013/04/30/sinkhole-swallows-section-of-strip-center-parking-lot/

Quote: "The City of Houston said a sewer line collapse caused the sinkhole."

Note: Biogenic sulfide corrosion is eating away at concrete and steel near the water table. This will result in more ruptured pipes, including water, sewer and gas lines as well as buildings and bridges collapsing. This problem alone will cause more sinkholes and 'gas explosions' as infrastructure deteriorates. Considering the fires and explosions that will wreak havoc on the surface of the Earth, and adding in the effects of biogenic sulfide corrosion, there will probably be scant evidence in a few decades that our civilization was ever even here...

2013-04-24 - Large sinkhole opens up at farm in Cebu in the Philippine Islands:
http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/11593996-cebu-philippines-sinkhole

Quote: "Phivolcs is also observing activity noted at the shore of Dumanhug in Cebu after residents claimed that they spotted 'boiling water' rising out of the seafloor."

Note: Boiling water could be an indicator of magma and heat rising toward the surface. They may also have mistaken dissociating methane clathrate deposits for boiling water; one kind of bubbles rising from the sea floor would look much like any other kind of bubbles rising from the sea floor.

2013-04-24 - Sinkhole opens up at golf course at Chillicothe Country Club in Chillicothe (Ohio):

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/18/sinkhole-swallows-3-cars-_n_3108606.html
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-sinkhole-swallows-3-cars-20130418,0,4497819.story

Note: They say this was caused by an old water main giving out. My question is: how will they distinguish between water mains that give out because of biogenic sulfide corrosion and those that give out for more traditional reasons? They don't even know we have an atmospheric hydrogen sulfide problem, so they're probably also completely unaware that we have a biogenic sulfide corrosion problem. That means they will not distinguish, so one can't rule biogenic sulfide corrosion out...

2013-04-16 - Sinkhole opens up on Old Canal Street in Antiquity, Cornelius (North Carolina):

2013-04-12 - Sinkhole spreading and expanding in Forestdale (Alabama), two properties threatened:

2013-04-11 - Sinkhole opens up on street in coastal Chula Vista (California):
http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Chula-Vista-Sinkhole-Brandywine-Avenue-202638041.html

Quote: "Crews told NBC 7 the sinkhole was not caused by a water main break."

Note: Methane was found in the soil near 19 homes in Santa Maria (California) not long ago, as mentioned in the 2013-01-18 update. Where'd that come from? It's a lighter than air gas so it had to come from below. Methane hydrate deposits below the ground along coasts may now be dissociating, transforming from solid (methane hydrate) to liquid (water) and gas (methane). As that happens, the ground may subside, resulting in landslides, sinkholes, etc.

Note: Sinkholes like this one make me uneasy about underlying methane hydrate deposits melting away beneath the ground along the coasts. Eventually that may destroy the entire East Coast and possibly the Gulf Coast, the West Coast, and other coastal areas around the world. Will we eventually see entire cities slough off into the ocean? I wouldn't rule that possibility out...

2013-04-10 - Sinkhole 10 feet deep opens up in backyard of home on Rapids Road in Manitowoc (Wisconsin), swallows man, who is rescued:

http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/News/article.php?id=106094
