Event Update For 2017-06-06

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

http://www.sott.net/article/353162-Solar-activity-headed-toward-100-year-low

Note: There will be no cooling, unless volcanoes get involved big-time, and even if that happens, it'd still just be short-term cooling. We've got a thickening carbon greenhouse over us. Without that, maybe it WOULD cool off, a little, but just like greenhouses trap heat and let plants grow in the winter, the same thing is happening now to the entire planet. And there's not only been no slowdown in CO2 and methane entering the atmosphere, they're both accelerating, although human emissions are leveling off. That means it's no longer the human race driving events, but the planet itself has taken over, and whatever we do or don't do is now irrelevant except in the very short term. Minor fluctuations in the solar cycle aren't going to overcome the thickening greenhouse being erected over us. Extinction approaches. I'm really only including this BS so that when reality itself blows it away, I can pull this back up again - if I'm still alive - and point out what stupendous idiots these people were to think that global cooling was coming...

  1. Thanks, Jonny. My little excursion to NC put me a little behind with my count of garbage trucks burning up and Hull events. So here it is:

In 8 days in May, 14 garbage trucks were destroyed by fire, while in 16 days in Hull there were 19 JJFH incidents.

Looking at the tractor trailer tally, we're about 35 semis behind the same date in 2016, but the summer is just beginning. i'll hold off comparison for the other categories until the end of June (roughly 1/2 way through the year) to see how we're stacking up compared with last year.

Central Banks Now Own Stocks And Bonds Worth Trillions – And They Could Crash The Markets By Selling Them
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/central-banks-now-own-stocks-and-bonds-worth-trillions-and-they-could-crash-the-markets-by-selling-them

[and if they DON'T sell them, they'll become worthless paper - like a lot of college degrees]

Have you ever wondered why stocks just seem to keep going up no matter what happens?  For years, financial markets have been behaving in ways that seem to defy any rational explanation, but once you understand the role that central banks have been playing everything begins to make sense.  In the aftermath of the great financial crisis of 2008, global central banks began to buy stocks, bonds and other financial assets in very large quantities and they haven’t stopped since.  In fact, as you will see below, global central banks are on pace to buy 3.6 trillion dollars worth of stocks and bonds this year alone.  At this point, the Swiss National Bank owns more publicly-traded shares of Facebook than Mark Zuckerberg does, and the Bank of Japan is now a top-five owner in 81 different large Japanese firms.  These global central banks are shamelessly pumping up global stock markets, but because they now have such vast holdings they could also cause a devastating global stock market crash simply by starting to sell off their portfolios. Too little, too late: Republicans 'revolt' against US intelligence, consider cutting back surveillance authority
    https://www.sott.net/article/353208-Too-little-too-late-Republicans-revolt-against-US-intelligence-consider-cutting-back-surveillance-authority

A small revolt in corners of the Republican Party bedevils plans for reauthorization this year of surveillance capabilities considered the "crown jewels" of the U.S. intelligence community.

Those capabilities, subject of a Senate intelligence committee hearing Wednesday, has some Republicans worried that they could get caught up in the same secret government intercepts of communications that helped to land President Donald Trump's short-lived national security adviser in legal jeopardy. The link between bigger storms and depleted ozone above the Central U.S. comes mostly from inference: While temperature and water vapor changes from storms have been shown to deplete ozone in Arctic regions, it’s not clear yet if this is the case in the states studied—Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, the Dakotas.

"Investors Should Be Petrified" Of The Coming Ice Age: Here Are Albert Edwards' Scariest Charts [quote from zero-hedge article below]
[The big Ice Age call was that the tight positive correlation between equity yields and bond yields that market participants had enjoyed since 1982, driven by ever-lower inflation, would break down. The "long bull market" (see chart below) had been a mirror image of the 1965- 1982 period when yields on both assets had risen together. The Ice Age thesis, drawing on our observations of Japan, predicted that while interest rates and bond yields would continue to fall, equity yields would decouple and begin to rise on a secular basis. For those with a historical perspective the Ice Age would be a mirror image of the 1950-65 period

In the Ice Age, government bonds would rerate relative to equities, with the latter declining in absolute as well as relative terms.

One important implication of the Ice Age thesis was that widely used metrics from the 1980s and 90s, such as the bond/equity earnings yield ratio, would break down. Hence you should no longer buy equities when this ratio fell to 0.8 as they would be undergoing a secular de-rating.]

  6. Air monitor alarms go off, crews take cover at Hanford nuclear site
    https://www.sott.net/article/353262-Air-monitor-alarms-go-off-crews-take-cover-at-Hanford-nuclear-site

The alarms are just the latest in a series of mishaps at Hanford, which has been leaking toxic radioactive material for years.

Thursday's incident came almost exactly a month after the Department of Energy declared an emergency at Hanford due to a cave-in of a tunnel used to store radioactive materials and equipment.

In January, a report found that radioactive contamination continues spreading inside the plant's Reduction-Oxidation Complex (REDOX) and could be worsened as the facility deteriorates.

The plant processed 24,000 tons of irradiated uranium fuel rods to remove plutonium for nuclear weapons during the Cold War. It hasn't been operational since 1967, but is not scheduled to be dismantled for at least another 15 years, triggering concerns that conditions will continue to worsen given its current state.
