Event Update For 2013-08-07

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: Fires And Explosions
2013-08-07 - Pallet business destroyed by fire at 12:30 AM in Springfield (Ohio):
Quote: "Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday fire fighters were called to Tri-State Pallet Inc. on Sherman Avenue where a fire was reported. Upon arriving, responders described the building as 'thoroughly engulfed' and proceeded to attempt putting it out."
Note: Another fire at a pallet company?! Shocking, I tells ya. Well, not really. These pallet-related fires keep happening. All flammable absorbent materials are absorbing hydrogen sulfide and/or methane and spontaneously combusting, including wood, paper, cardboard, generic trash, dried brush, straw, hay, cloth, etc. Pallets have an extra problem too: hydrogen sulfide is reactive with rusty iron/steel, and pallets are held together with nails, screws and/or staples, which rust. So a little hydrogen sulfide finds some rusty iron/steel, a little sparking or sizzling occurs, spark lands on the wood, and whoosh, fire breaks out. These fires may start small, but they'll get huge very quickly, especially if no one's around to notice. At 12:30 AM, there was probably no one there, so the fire grew until it was big enough to attract attention...

2013-08-07 - Chemical fire erupts at the Port of Tampa in coastal Tampa (Florida), some told to shelter in place:

Quote: "Tampa Fire Rescue officials say they've extinguished a small fire in a silo at the port that caused a chemical smell in downtown Tampa."

Quote: "Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Lonnie Benniefield said a downtown resident called 911 complaining of eye irritation at approximately 9 a.m. When first responders arrived at the Port of Tampa, they discovered a small fire inside a sulfur tank. The Port of Tampa is the largest port in the state of Florida. The port is located on the western coast or Suncoast of Florida, approximately 25 miles from open waters of the Gulf of Mexico."

Quote: "Crews at the port attempted to extinguish the fire with steam, which created a cloud of sulphur dioxide that was visible at the port."

Note: When you react hydrogen sulfide with ozone, you get sulfur dioxide and water. (More info here.) So if we try to mitigate hydrogen sulfide with ozone, we'll end up with moisture in the air and some sulfur dioxide. I'd be surprised if we aren't already doing that, especially in coastal areas. Sulfur dioxide is bad, but hydrogen sulfide is much worse in many ways, including flammability, reactivity with other chemicals, and lethality. What did they mention in this event? Steam and sulfur dioxide. Interesting, at the very least...
