2013 - JUL - Spotlight Stories

2013-07-01 - Pallets burst into flame at 4:45 AM at pallet company in Houston (Texas):
http://www.click2houston.com/news/morning-fire-at-pallet-company/-/1735978/20784428/-/nhbq5s/-/index.html

Quote: "Investigators said the company had pallets along the street when many of them caught fire."

Note: Pallets are vulnerable to the atmospheric hydrogen and methane problem for a few reasons: 1) all flammable absorbent materials are absorbing hydrogen sulfide and/or methane and spontaneously combusting; 2) pallets are held together with nails or screws, usually steel, which rust, and hydrogen sulfide is reactive with rusty iron/steel; and 3) pallets are often stored outside, fully exposed to any hydrogen sulfide or methane blowing through. So over time the wood absorbs one or both gases. Eventually some hydrogen sulfide blows by and finds some rusty iron/steel, causing some sizzling and sparking, and then the wood ignites, whether it's contaminated or not (but it'll ignite way easier if it's contaminated, much like it would if you soaked it in gasoline). The result: lots of fires involving pallets and pallet companies. This same problem affects all similar wood constructs, like gazebos, porches, decks and fences, but all of those are usually painted or have had some kind of protective sealant applied, so the problem isn't AS bad as with generic pallets. If you've got a wood porch or deck or fence or gazebo and the paint or sealant is fading, might wanna freshen things up. Worst case, your stuff looks nicer and lasts longer. Best case, you just saved yourself from an avoidable fire...

2013-07-02 - Wildfire erupts, burns 300 acres, next to Luck Peak Reservoir (Idaho):
http://www.kivitv.com/news/local/213985421.html

Note: Check out the pic. You can see from the smoke plumes that the fire is on the downwind side of the reservoir. That reservoir is a low-lying area where a heavier-than-air gas like hydrogen sulfide will accumulate when the wind isn't blowing it onward, and from where any gas that has accumulated will blow when the wind picks up. So over time, the dried brush and dead grass on the side toward which the wind blows - the side that's burning - will absorb hydrogen sulfide, which is highly flammable, an accelerant. Eventually the dried brush and dead grass will spontaneously combust or ignite with the slightest spark and a fire will break out, which is probably exactly what happened here. Not a huge fire, and it hasn't destroyed anyone's property - I just mention it to show you a common scenario that will be playing out over and over again in topographically similar areas all around the world...

2013-07-03 - Freak hailstorm dumps as much as 2 feet of hail in Santa Rosa (New Mexico):
http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=HS-20130704-39896-USA

Quote: "I have lived here all my life, and I have never seen this..."

Quote: "The storm began around 6 p.m., dropping paintball-sized hail for 20 minutes, according to the newspaper. One National Weather Service local storm report said nickle to golf-ball-sized hail fell. The town was then left covered in ice, stranding motorists on two Route 66 bridges. The newspaper also reported damage to car ports, neon Route 66 signs and a Family Dollar store, in addition to flooding after the hail melted."

Note: A proposed explanation for these freak hailstorms that have been ravaging areas around the world in the last couple of years is in the full hypothesis, near the bottom...

2013-07-04 - Three vacant homes burn within 30 minutes in New Castle (Pennsylvania):
http://www.sfgate.com/news/crime/article/3-vacant-homes-burn-in-30-minutes-in-W-Pa-city-4648115.php

Quote: "As fire crews battled the first fire, they were called to another six blocks away and then a third about six blocks away from the second fire."

Note: That sounds very suspiciously like a gas plume blowing through there. First it ignited one home, then six blocks away another, then six more blocks away, a third. I bet if they had noticed the wind direction that the second fire was downwind of the first and the third was downwind of the second...

2013-07-05 - Underground electrical fire hits Staten Island (New York), electricity usage reduced, people bake in the heat:
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/07/06/voltage-reduced-on-staten-island-after-con-edison-manhole-fire/
http://newyork.gotnewswire.com/news/voltage-reduced-on-staten-island-after-con-edison-manhole-fire

Note: There have been many of these underground electrical fires in the last 1.5 years, and especially in the last few months. Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas that will tend to seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities, basements, bodies of water, canyons, valleys, ditches, etc. It's also reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, like cables in underground electrical facilities and battery cables and wiring in vehicles. This same problem is probably the cause of a great many of the non-running vehicles bursting into flames...

2013-07-06 - Freight train derails, bursts into flame, explodes, in Lac Mégantic, Quebec (Canada), at least 5 killed:

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/least+three+dead+M%C3%A9gantic+train+derailment+explosion/8625646/story.html
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2013/07/06/quebec-train-derailment-fire.html

Quote: "Fires raged well into Saturday afternoon in Quebec after a train carrying petroleum products derailed and decimated a small town, causing damage to over 30 buildings and forcing residents out of their homes. The Globe and Mail reports over 1,000 people were evacuated after the crash.  NBC News reports police have set up a half-mile perimeter around the site where several tankers went off the tracks and crashed in Lac Mégantic, Quebec, around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The Montreal, Maine & Atlantic freight train travelling to Maine crashed in the small border town, and the ensuing explosions destroyed huge portions of downtown."

Quote: "'We do fear that there will be fatalities and from now we're trying to locate the people that are still missing,' he told BBC World. Some of the train's cargo spilled into the nearby Chaudiere river, said Environment Quebec spokesman Christian Blanchette, adding that communities downstream of Lac-Megantic had been warned to take care if using river water."

Quote: "Chairman Edward Burkhardt said an engineer parked the train west of Lac-Mégantic before he went to a local hotel for the night. While other details remain unclear, the train rolled away later that night and derailed in the centre of the town. 'He had parked the train, so far as we can determine, properly,' Burkhardt said, adding that the brakes were properly applied."

Note: A thousand people evacuated, at least 5 killed, many people missing and feared dead in the inferno, 30 buildings destroyed, town utterly devastated. As you can tell from the name, this town is right on a lake, which has the same name as the town. Some reports say the train was parked and took off on its own, gathering speed until it hit town, unmanned, then derailed, burst into flame and several fuel tanker cars exploded. If that is so then that would not be the first time that an umanned vehicle has taken off on its own. There are two possible reasons for this: 1) hydrogen sulfide is being absorbed into brake pads and tires and frying brakes; and 2) hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper like wiring in vehicles.

Thus I highly suspect that small fires are sometimes breaking out around wiring in vehicles, frying off the insulation, then wires touch and the vehicle basically 'hot-wires' itself. The most notable example of this so far was in May, when a boat burst into flame, started itself, then took off across Coffs Harbor in Australia, smashing into other vessels, as mentioned in the 2013-05-03 update. Could be that this Canadian tragedy was the same scenario, except it was a train instead of a boat this time. Just think about that: trains starting themselves while hauling dangerous and/or flammable chemicals and turning into high-speed mobile bombs. Holy sh#t! Fortunately, I don't think this will be very common, as the fire has to start in just the right place and the right wires have to be near each other and make contact. Still, it looks like this will be a problem from time to time, and sometimes the consequences will be devastating...

2013-07-07 - Underground electrical fire erupts in coastal Yonkers (New York), power goes out for many, who swelter in heat:

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas which will seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities, basements, valleys, canyons, ditches, ravines, etc. It is also reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, like cabling in underground electrical facilities, battery cables and wiring in vehicles, etc. There have been many underground electrical fires and explosions in the last year or two, and especially in the last few months. As the amount of hydrogen sulfide entering the atmosphere increases, this problem will continue to escalate. The copper reactivity problem is also the likely cause of a great many of the non-running vehicles bursting into flame. Can you imagine a world without electricity or vehicles? I find it difficult, and yet that may very well be coming...

2013-07-08 - Porch bursts into flame, fire spreads to woman, at home in Sparta (New Jersey), woman seriously burned:
http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20130709/NJNEWS/307090037/Sparta-woman-critical-condition-after-fire-her-home
http://www.nj.com/sussex-county/index.ssf/2013/07/sparta_woman_found_on_her_porch_with_third-degree_burns_all_over_her_body_police_said.html

Quote: "Next to the porch, lying on the ground, the rescue workers found Polny, the homeowner, Beebe said. Her clothes had been completely burned off her body, and she had third-degree burns to her head, face, torso, arms and legs, he added. She was unable to tell rescue workers what happened, because of the severity of her injuries..."

Note: There were candles on the porch, and a small fire, and this woman, charred. So, maybe some hydrogen sulfide and methane blew by, knocked her unconscious, ignited via the candles, started this fire, and scorched the clothes off this woman while she was unconscious. This story kinda reminds me of the woman found burned to death on a porch swing at her trailer in West Frankfort (Illinois) in February 2012...

2013-07-10 - Sawdust hopper bursts into flame at lumber yard in North Portland (Oregon):

Note: Third link has interesting information. Like, the fire company that responded to this fire had no pumper trucks, so no water supply, due to budget cuts, so they couldn't do jack until another company arrived 2 minutes later. They then mention that in modern construction, a fire doubles in size every minute...

Quote: Two of Mitchell Shepard’s vehicles were damaged and Shepard told 23ABC he suspects arson. 'This thing went up really quick and it was too fast of a spread to just be an accidental incident. It definitely had to be a deliberate act,' said Shepard."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide and methane are both accelerants, which is to say, they are highly flammable and accelerate the speed of burning. And this is what you'd expect to see as a decent-sized hydrogen sulfide and/or methane plume blows through an area, so no, this wasn't necessarily a deliberate act. Also, the wee hours are when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane floating in the air above closer to the ground...

http://www.northdevongazette.co.uk/news/car_fire_callouts_in_north_devon_1_2279576

Note: The above two events are early indicators of what is to come. As atmospheric contamination by highly flammable hydrogen sulfide and methane continues, there will be more fires erupting in more cities. Vehicles are especially vulnerable to this problem for a number of reasons: 1) hydrogen sulfide is reactive with electrified copper, like battery cables and other wiring in vehicles; 2) vehicles are frequently stored outside, fully exposed to the atmosphere, or in buildings that are not very well insulated, like garages or storage units; 3) hydrogen sulfide is reactive with rusty iron/steel, and virtually all vehicles have some of that, unless they are absolutely brand new and fresh off the assembly line...

Note: This same recycling facility just burned in June too, as mentioned in the 2013-06-27 update. From the full hypothesis: "Trash-related facilities such as recycling centers and landfills will burn hard too, as hydrogen sulfide is absorbed into flammable absorbent materials like wood, paper, cardboard, straw, hay, dried brush, generic trash, clothing, cotton, wool."

2013-07-18 - Fish bubble up dead, water turns milky green-white, in the Inner Harbor in coastal Baltimore (Maryland):
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/19/dead-fish-inner-harbor-baltimore-milky-water_n_3623931.html
http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/07/18/200-fish-dead-in-inner-harbor-preliminary-testing-shows-no-oxygen-in-water/

Quote: "Baltimore residents may have noticed something peculiar about the water in the city's harbor this week -- mainly that it's a milky shade of green and full of dead fish."

Quote: "The Jones Falls is currently experiencing a thermal inversion event. Basically, differences in water temperatures have caused the water at the bottom of the Jones Falls to switch places with the water at the top. This pulls sulfur bacteria up to the surface, which gives the water its milky-green color and produces the sulfur smell. Unfortunately, the water on the bottom of the Harbor also has very low dissolved oxygen, which is what's killing the fish."

Quoting This (PDF) Science Article: "Trouble begins with widespread volcanic activity that releases enormous volumes of carbon dioxide and methane (1). The gases cause rapid global warming (2). A warmer ocean absorbs less oxygen from the atmosphere (3). Low oxygen (anoxia) destabilizes the chemocline, where oxygenated water meets water permeated with hydrogen sulfide (H2S) generated by bottom-dwelling anaerobic bacteria (4). As H2S concentrations build and oxygen falls, the chemocline rises abruptly to the ocean surface (5). Green and purple photosynthesizing sulfur bacteria, which consume H2S and normally live at chemocline depth, now inhabit the H2S-rich surface waters while oxygen-breathing ocean life suffocates (6). H2S also diffuses into the air, killing animals and plants on land (7) and rising to the troposphere to attack the planet’s ozone layer (8). Without the ozone shield, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation kills remaining life (9)."

Note: This sudden change in water color and the sulfur smell, that sounds EXACTLY like steps 5 and 6 there, the chemocline rising abruptly to the surface, suffocating oxygen-breathing ocean life. This is undoubtedly happening now in pockets all around the world and as time goes on, we will progress through all 9 of those steps, with step 9 being the death of most remaining life on Earth from lethal levels of UV radiation. This is the ancient extinction event that is now upon us: atmospheric doom. The authors did forget to mention all the fires and explosions (since both methane and especially hydrogen sulfide are explosively flammable), so things will actually be significantly WORSE than is descibed in that document...

2013-07-18 - Thousands of TONS of tilapia and carp suddenly die in Lake Tondano (Indonesia):

Quote: "He tells the time according to the residents water containing high levels of sulfur appeared and caused the death of fish in the village Tonelet. In just a few days, about five tons of fish are harvested in the village died. This incident continues to happen and began to spread to other villages on the east coast of Lake Tondano. Rano Lewo move according to the wind and lake currents other villages. Wave of fish kills were widespread."

Quote: "If the data is in the form of money dikonfersi the losses suffered by fish farmers in the District Kakas reach about USD 10 billion. If combined with three other districts, the total loss is estimated at about USD 50 billion."

Note: This may be occurring as the result of sulfate-reducing bacteria taking over the ecosystem in the waters there.

Quote: "The toxic hydrogen sulfide is a waste product of sulfate-reducing bacteria; its rotten egg odor is often a marker for the presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria in nature.[5] Sulfate-reducing bacteria are responsible for the sulfurous odors of salt marshes and mud flats."

Quote: "During the Permian–Triassic extinction event (250 million years ago) a severe anoxic event seems to have occurred where these forms of bacteria became the dominant force in oceanic ecosystems, producing copious amounts of hydrogen sulfide.[6]"

Note: So the oceans heat up and go anoxic. Sulfate-reducing bacteria take over. Massive amounts of hydrogen sulfide are released. Most life on Earth dies. That's where we are now: the beginning of the end, the dawn of the dying. About 90% of all species died in the Permian-Triassic extinction event. What is happening now looks to be a replay of the Permian-Triassic. That doesn't mean 90% of EACH species will die, but ALL of 90% of species will die. The species most likely to go extinct are those that reproduce slowly and in small numbers and which take long periods of time for the young to reach adulthood. That's us. Once average human lifespan drops below the average age of reproductive maturity, we will be mathematically extinct, even if a few stragglers live on for a while longer...

2013-07-19 - Underground electrical explosion and fire hits Framingham (Massachusetts):
http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/x853691533/Some-in-Framingham-still-without-power

Quote: "Witnesses told firefighters that flames were coming out of the manhole following the explosion. The explosion knocked out power at several businesses across from the Memorial Building."

Note: Officials say heat may have caused this event. Could be, but I wouldn't be so sure about that, seeing as underground explosions and fires were happening in the winter too, and have been escalating all this past year. Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas which will tend to seek out low-lying areas, like underground facilities, basements, ravine, ditches, valleys, canyons, lakes, ponds, etc. It's also reactive with rusty iron/steel (pipes in underground infrastructure) and copper, especially electrified copper, like that found in underground electrical cabling and wiring in vehicles (which likely explains a great many of the non-running vehicles now burning up)...

2013-07-20 - Pickup truck bursts into flame on road in Fayetteville (Arkansas), driver jumps out, truck crashes:
http://5newsonline.com/2013/07/20/truck-catches-fire-on-college-avenue-crashes/
http://www.4029tv.com/news/arkansas/raw-video-crews-work-to-put-out-vehicle-fire/-/8897494/21086960/-/8x61pcz/-/index.html

Quote: "Witnesses told 5NEWS that a white truck was northbound on College when it appeared to burst into flames shortly after 9 p.m. The truck crossed into the center turn lane and witnesses said the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle. The truck continued across the southbound lanes until it crashed into the curb in front of the Lewis automobile dealership near the intersection of College and East Longview Street."

Note: Well, jumping out of a moving vehicle is better than burning to death. Sometimes hydrogen sulfide is knocking drivers unconscious AND igniting their vehicles and when that happens, the result is a charred corpse in a burned-out or burning vehicle. So this guy was actually lucky...

2013-07-21 - Newborn baby pronounced dead, comes back to life, in Londrina (Brazil):
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2360068/Baby-girl-pronounced-dead-birth-comes-life-hours-later-left-hospital-chapel-s-altar.html

Quote: "She added that she washed and dressed the dead baby and had no doubt that she was dead. She said: 'I can assure you, the child was dead. Her pupils didn't respond to light. All her signs pointed to the complete absence of life. 'I saw it with my own eyes. She was blue all over, completely dead,' she said."

Note: This has happened a number of times over the last couple of years, and doctors are consistently mystified. Well, hydrogen sulfide has been shown to put rodents into a state of 'suspended animation'. Scientists also tried it with pigs and it didn't work. I don't think it's a species-specific thing, but rather relates to the SIZE of the mammal (and of course the concentration of the hydrogen sulfide that affects the creature and over what period of time). The rodents were small, and the babies and children that this has happened to have been small too. The pigs were large. Some other links about this subject:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/archives/old-news-pages/dead-boy-wakes-up-and-asks-for-water-at-own-funeral-in-brazil/story-e6frf7n6-1226386975762

This boy 'came back to life', asked for water, then died again. He was 2 years old, so presumably significantly larger than an infant. He may have gotten too much hydrogen sulfide to survive long-term, or he may have been too large, or some combination. It may be that this also affects adults, but damages their brains so much - zombifies them - that they never survive for long. Regardless of the individual, infant or adult, this will be a rare occurrence and will require just the right dosage over just the right amount of time, whether it's to put an infant or young child into suspended animation, or zombify an adult. Mostly hydrogen sulfide just flat-out kills. In any case, I believe this is the reason for these mysterious events. Nobody else has offered even a shred of a clue as to how this might happen. One must wonder just how many babies have been declared dead and buried over the last few years, when they weren't actually dead...

Quote: "In its initial statement after the incident, the FAA said the pilots on the Nashville-to-New York flight had reported 'possible front landing gear issues before landing,' and that the gear collapsed as the plane touched down at LaGuardia around 5:45 p.m. After POLITICO asked for clarification later Monday night, the FAA issued an 'updated' statement that omitted the detail that the pilots had reported trouble before landing. However, it did not explain the reason for backing off the initial statement or explain where the detail had come from."

Quote: "After the landing gear collapsed, the aircraft 'skidded down the runway on its nose and then veered off and came to rest in the grass area,' the AP reported."

Quote: "The front landing gear of a Southwest flight collapsed upon landing at New York's LaGuardia airport Monday. This follows runway accidents in San Francisco and London."

Note: LaGuardia Airport is located on the waterfront of Flushing Bay and Bowery Bay. From the full hypothesis: "As planes land, they will more frequently blow tires, or their landing gear will collapse, or they will run off runways."

Quote: "The rig’s crew of 44 workers was evacuated as natural gas formed a sheen in the waters around it and billowed dangerously into the air. Hours later, while everybody was at a safe distance, the gas ignited, triggering a conflagration that still had not been extinguished as of this writing."

2013-07-24 - Flower pot bursts into flame, fire spreads, home destroyed, in Morris (Illinois):
http://www.morrisdailyherald.com/2013/07/25/investigators-fire-began-in-a-flower-pot/ascw1nn/

Note: All flammable absorbent materials are absorbing hydrogen sulfide and/or methane and spontaneously combusting. Such materials include wood, cardboard, paper, generic trash, dried brush, mulch, rubber, hay, straw, clothing, cotton, wool, etc. I'd bet there were dead and dried-up plants in that flower pot or there was wood or rubber mulch in it. This isn't the first fire I've seen like this. Just as porches and decks and exterior electrical wiring (doorbells, porch lights, etc) are fire threats now, so too are dried-out plants, in planters or in the ground...

2013-07-25 - Underground electrical explosion takes out power for some in coastal Point Loma (California):
http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2013/jul/26/stringers-electrical-transformer-explodes-/

Quote: "During the early evening on July 25, an underground transformer overheated and exploded on Dickens Street in Point Loma. Power was knocked out at homes and businesses along the bayfront, from North Harbor Drive and all the way down Shelter Island. No one was injured, but cars parked next to where the concrete vault was blown out of the ground were showered with dirt and debris."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas and will seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities, basements, ravines, ditches, valleys, canyons, lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, creeks, seas, etc. It is also reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, like cabling in electrical infrastructure and wiring in vehicles. As a consequence, explosions and fires in underground electrical facilities have been on the rise, as have fires in non-running vehicles. This problem is certain to get much worse. Forget about solar flares taking out the grid. This problem may very well do that - the process is already under way - and no solar flare is required...

2013-07-26 - Bank employee reports mysterious boom and flash of light in Vienna (Virginia):

Quote: "An employee at Navy Federal Credit Union, 820 Follin Lane, S.E., told Vienna police on July 13 at 9:54 p.m. that while performing a security check of the area, he heard a loud boom and saw a bright flash of light. Police checked the area and did not find anything that appeared to be out of place or damaged, authorities said."

Note: This sounds like a gas plume - hydrogen sulfide or methane or both - finding an ignition source and detonating. Authorities found nothing damaged because it detonated in the air or out near a field or near the creek that's just 1000 feet from this bank. A slight difference in wind direction or speed might have resulted in a home exploding or something like that. And say, there have been quite a number of homes exploding lately...

2013-07-27 - Church bus overturns after brake failure, in Indianapolis (Indiana), 3 killed, 26 injured:

Quote: "The driver told witnesses afterward that the vehicle's brakes failed as he was trying to make a left turn..."

Quote: "A bus trip back to an Indianapolis church ended in tragedy Saturday afternoon with bloodied bodies, luggage strewn everywhere and three dead, in addition to at least 19 injured, after the vehicle flipped over."

Quote: "'I saw bodies everywhere, kids in shock and disbelief,' said John Murphy, who'd stopped along the northern Indianapolis road. '... There was a lot of blood. There was an awful lot of blood.'"

Note: Brake failure has been happening with increasing frequency. Hydrogen sulfide is being absorbed into tire rubber and brake pads. Then when brakes are applied, an abnormal amount of heat is generated, since hydrogen sulfide burns very hot. Then bad things can happen: tires explode or ignite, brakes burn out or ignite, fluid lines rupture, the entire vehicle goes up in flames, or all of the above. This problem affects massive vehicles the most - like buses - but no vehicle is immune. It's probably best not to count on your brakes working. That way you won't be surprised when you hit your brakes and nothing happens...

Quote: "At least 36 people have been reported dead after a bus skidded off a viaduct in southern Italy. Children are among the victims of the deadly crash. The bus was traveling the A16 highway from the town of Canosa to Naples when the incident happened on Sunday evening. The vehicle hit several cars before running through the guard rail and falling more than 25 meters down a slope..."

Quote: "Picone said the bus struck 11 cars on the road before falling off the bridge, leading police to suspect the bus had brake problems."

Quote: "...some witnesses thought they heard a noise as if the bus had blown a tire."

Note: Sounds like the absorbency problem once again, whether it was an exploding tire or burned-out brakes, or both. Hydrogen sulfide is being absorbed into tire rubber and brake pads. Then when brakes are applied, an unusual amount of heat is generated, since hydrogen sulfide burns very hot. Then bad things can happen: tires explode or ignite, brakes burn out or ignite, fluid lines rupture, the entire vehicle goes up in flames, or all of the above...

2013-07-29 - Passenger plane has brake problems after landing, runway temporarily closed, in coastal Auckland (New Zealand):
http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=VIV-20130730-40274-NZL

Quote: "Lunchtime disruption at Auckland Airport, thanks to a Qantas aircraft with brake issues. The Boeing 737 arrived from Sydney, but experienced the problems when it was taxiing off the runway."

Note: They towed it, since its brakes weren't working, else it might have run off the runway. Both the above events are likely the same problem manifesting in slightly different ways. The problem is that hydrogen sulfide is being absorbed into tire rubber and brake pads. Then when brakes are applied - which for planes is mostly right after landing - an unusual amount of heat is generated, since hydrogen sulfide burns very hot. Then bad things can happen: tires explode or ignite, brakes burn out or ignite, fluid lines rupture, the entire vehicle goes up in flames, or all of the above. This problem hits massive vehicles the worst, but no vehicle is immune...
