Event Update For 2014-08-08

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Residents reporting hearing explosions and huge flames could be seen above the building."

Quote: "Madison police said a building under construction started on fire at the intersection of Apollo Way and Jupiter Drive."

Quote: "Madison Fire Chief Steven Davis said the fire engulfed a 64-unit building."

Quote: "News 3 Meteorologist Bob Lesh reports the smoke plume from the fire is so large, it is visible on radar."

Quote: "The blaze in the 105 unit apartment building in the 500 block of Apollo Way appeared to be out Saturday morning but pallets of building materials continued to smolder."

Note: Pallets? Uh huh. Lake Mendota, Lake Monona and Lake Waubesa are all in/around Madison. Some nice pics, spectacular fire. Pallets are a fire vulnerability for a few reasons: 1) they are made of porous and flammable wood, which will adsorb any methane and hydrogen sulfide that blows by; 2) they're often stored outdoors, fully exposed to the atmosphere; 3) they are usually held together with steel nails/screws/staples, which rust, and hydrogen sulfide is reactive with rusty iron/steel, no other ignition source necessary. So some hydrogen sulfide blows by, some sparking erupts near a rusty nail or screw, a spark lands on the wood, which is RIGHT THERE, and you have a fire. Porches, decks, fences, and many barns all have the same vulnerability, and indeed, they have been going up in flames too, although they are usually painted or treated with water-resistant stain, which helps cut down on the fire potential somewhat. Upholstered furniture is also similarly vulnerable, so it's probably not a good idea to have any upholstered furniture outdoors on a porch or deck either...

Quote: "General Motors is telling customers of certain recalled vehicles to park outside since the SUVs may catch fire."

Note: Well, ALL vehicles are bursting into flame, parked or running, so the vehicles fires aren't exactly a GM-only problem. Still, that's one of the scarier warnings I've ever seen from an auto manufacturer...

Note: Being in a vehicle is basically the same as being outdoors. Being on a motorcycle, moped or scooter is absolutely the same as being outdoors so people riding such vehicles are even more likely to lose consciousness or die while driving and then crash than are people in cars or trucks or other more enclosed vehicles. You'll be safest in an enclosed vehicle, with the windows rolled up, the vents shut, and neither the AC nor heat running...

Shipper says it isn't their fault because all they did was start it. Buyer KNOWS it isn't HIS fault, because he never even saw the truck in person. Soooo...buyer is screwed.

I don't know if tigers have always done this or whether this is a tactic they have learned more recently. http://westhawaiitoday.com/hurricane-season-2014/release-hydrogen-sulfide-puna-geothermal-venture-plant-contained

Quote: "After an uncontrolled release of hydrogen sulfide prompted sent plant operators and emergency crews scrambling to contain the unplanned emissions, residents of Leilani Estates, Pohoiki, and Lani Puna were advised to stay indoors to avoid exposure. Hydrogen sulfide is described a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs; it is heavier than air, very poisonous, corrosive, flammable, and explosive, according to Wikipedia. Hawaii County Civil Defense officials recommended that any residents experiencing discomfort should evacuate the area."

Note: Did the gas really come from the plant, or did it just blow in off the ocean? We'll never know for sure. It doesn't really matter all that much - if you've got deadly and explosively flammable poison gas blowing around, that's what matters. At least 70 children were hospitalized because of hydrogen sulfide poisoning the day before in Kollam (India), mentioned in the 2014-08-07 update. That incident was blamed on a leak from a metal factory, which isn't a terribly believable excuse either...

2014-08-08 - Fungus afflicting rising numbers of people in the US Southwest:
http://www.sott.net/article/283517-The-mysterious-fungus-rampant-in-the-American-Southwest

Quote: "Valley fever has perplexed doctors and patients alike for more than a century. Symptoms range from mild fatigue to incapacitating, flesh-eating infections, and despite decades of research, advances in treatment and pushes to develop a vaccine have been painfully slow. There's virtually no way to guard against inhaling the spores that cause valley fever, as most masks can't filter out the microscopic dust particles that carry the spores through the air and into the lungs."

Quote: "For reasons still unclear, rates of valley fever are rising nationwide. Between 1998 and 2011, documented cases across the country increased steadily by about 15 percent annually, from just 2,000 infections in 1998 to more than 22,000 in 2011. In areas where the fungus is widespread, like Kern County, it's statistically more probable to develop valley fever than hepatitis or chickenpox."

  2. I was gonna post that very article to start off my comment today - good job!

After reading the large batch of vehicles going up in flames (especially the guy who bought the truck on-line and never received it) - how are insurance companies going to assess the risk? This is a BIG problem! Secondly - even if they do that - how can they then demand we take part in this exorbitant wager (essentially) - when it's becoming commonplace and they're going to weasel out of paying by claiming it was an "act of God," or some such nonsense. Fuggetabotit!

Wow, it just keeps gettin' worse! More buildings under construction collapsing, more people dropping dead, more animal and fish die-offs - lots of birds too - as well as attacks by everything from pets to wild animals (coyotes, wolves, bear, tigers and beavers now), too many vehicles bursting into flame (many while parked), lots of people having "medical events" some of which cause crashes into buildings, by-standers and other vehicles - it's unbelievable but happening more and more each day!

  3. Just got my drivers license renewed yesterday. LMAO, the only time I've driven in the past year was that trip to get my drivers license! But because I MIGHT want the option, and I don't wanna get a beat-down for driving without a license if I should drive, I had to make that trip. I would've been really pissed off if I'd died!

  4. Ha-ha! Really? What would you have done, come back as a ghost to haunt the DOT?

    http://247wallst.com/aerospace-defense/2014/08/10/787-dreamliner-engine-fails-over-the-atlantic/

787 Dreamliner Engine Fails Over the Atlantic

The pilot of a 787 Dreamliner was forced to shut down one of the plane’s two engines about one and a half hours into a scheduled nine-and-a-half hour flight from the Dominican Republic to Manchester, England. The plane, one of six 787-800s owned by Thomson Airways, made a safe emergency landing in the Azores about four hours after the engine was shut down.

No explanation has been offered yet for the sudden engine loss, but this is a first for the aircraft since The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) delivered its first 787 in the fall of 2011. The plane entered production about 4 years late and cost the company about 5-times the original $6 billion estimate. Thomson Airways was Boeing’s U.K. launch customer and received its first 787 in June of 2013.

The first major issue with the plane was a delamination of the composite skin on the plane’s fuselage. A more spectacular problem arose when a battery pack in a parked 787-800 ignited. The problems with the lithium-ion batteries appears to have been sorted out, but that caused a three-month ban on all flights of the 787 in early 2013. [there's more]

  5. That's right, I'd have haunted the crap out of the eye test machine at DMV!

'Read the first line, at the top, please.'

    'Okay, J-U-M-P-I-N-G-J-A-C-K-F-L-A-S-H'

'Very good..Second line, the medium-sized letters?'

    'H-Y-P-O-T-H-E-S-I-S'

'Great. Third line now, little letters?'

    'i-t-s-a-g-a-s-g-a-s-g-a-s'

'Okay, your license will be mailed to you within 10 business days.'

'Thanks! See ya!' And off they'd derp, not even noticing my mad haunting skillz. And a ghostly moan would sound throughout the DMV each night in the wee hours.

  9. Hey Jonny, saw a segment on Global National News (Canada) tonight... very unusual... in my 50+ years I'd never heard of it:

http://globalnews.ca/news/1364789/what-parents-need-to-know-about-secondary-drowning/ A Google search shows up a bunch of "new" reports.

Seems to me that "Secondary Drowning" is the latest addition to the: "Anything But The Truth Syndrome" ie. SIDS, SADS, etc.

Damn fine job that the people managers are doing... the majority of people are numb 'n dumb... fear-free, unaware, peaceful, happy... well done!

  10. Hey,. PeterC, I came across a story about that 'secondary drowning' a coupla months ago and I thought exactly the same thing as you: in my almost-50 years, I never heard of that, and now they're telling me it's common?! It did sound like another excuse to explain people dropping dead a little AFTER they'd been in a body of water.

Florida hit by largest ride tide bloom in nearly a decade – thousands of fish killed

August 2014 – FLORIDA – The largest red-tide bloom seen in Florida in nearly a decade has killed thousands of fish in the Gulf of Mexico and might pose a greater health threat if it washes ashore as expected in the next two weeks, researchers said. The patchy bloom stretches from the curve of the panhandle to the central Tampa Bay region. It measures approximately 80 miles long by 50 miles wide. Red tide occurs when naturally occurring algae bloom out of control, producing toxins deadly to fish and other marine life. The odorless chemicals can trigger respiratory distress in people, such as coughing and wheezing. “It could have large impacts if it were to move inshore,” said Brandon Basino, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. “It has been killing a lot of marine species, especially fish, as it waits offshore.” The agency has received reports of thousands of dead fish, including snappers, groupers, flounders and bull sharks, as well as crabs, eels and octopi. This is the largest bloom seen since 2006. The phenomenon has existed for centuries, but such a large bloom is being closely monitored in Florida because it could affect beach tourism and commercial fishing.

  13. Yeah, shot EIGHT TIMES, unarmed, hard to blame the people for getting angry. Not condoning the burning and looting, but the anger...quite understandable. I'm still glad all the rioting, looting, burning people aren't TOO close though. Heh.
