Event Update For 2014-08-22

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: They're 'investigating as arson' the other two fires. They haven't eliminated accidental causes, like hydrogen sulfide's reactivity with rust or electrified copper, so they're not too terribly competent there. They'll probably be spending an increasing amount of their work hours chasing ghosts - nonexistent arsonists - until they get a clue. In the meantime, might as well watch the Isle of Sheppey go up in flames!

2014-08-22 - NASA conducts experiments to see how fuels burn in microgravity environments:

  1. Iceland had raised its aviation alert to orange on Monday after Bardarbunga kicked into seismic action with the biggest earthquake registered since 1996.

And now CA biggest since 89.

    Giant cracks appearing all over.

    Something wicked this way comes.

  2. Well, my eyes are open, and it's not just the caffeine!

  3. Uh oh! And that California quake - someone mentioned seeing a blue flash. That may have been methane shaken up by that quake, that bubbled to the surface and found an ignition source.

Volcanic island getting erupty (Iceland), major quake near the coast in California, major quake near the coast in Chile, hundreds of new methane vents detected along the East Coast - things are not looking good.

'We're setting the stage for a decade of discovery', that article says. Yeah, if by 'discovery' they mean 'catastrophe'!

  4. I said it earlier "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

    1. As a Ray Bradbury fan myself, since something wicked this way does indeed come, perhaps we should look to another of his works: 'The MARTIAN Chronicles'! Heheh.

  5. Or the gas is moving the rocks. Once turned to vapor it tends to get pushy.

    1. I had considered that too. Some people said that quake 'felt weird', like something was shifting around below ground. Maybe that was some gas migrating underground as the clathrates dissociate along the coast, eventually creating enough pressure to crack rock and actually cause that quake.

Looks like there was a magnitude 7.0-ish quake in Peru today too, to go along with the Chile and California quakes.
