Event Update For 2017-05-04

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

http://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/update/2017-05-04/missing-jason-gurgul-body-found-in-bristol-floating-harbour/

Quote: "Four bodies have been found in a city's waterways in just four months, sparking fears of a 'serial killer' prowling the area. The male corpses were recovered from Bristol's floating Harbour and River Avon, with the most recent discovery taking place yesterday afternoon. The findings have prompted claims that a 'killer' - dubbed the 'Bristol pusher' - could be pushing unsuspecting victims into the waterways. But despite the latest discovery, police have again confirmed that they are not treating any of the deaths of the men as suspicious. A force spokesman said they 'appear to have been tragic accidents'."

Note: Too many people dying in the water here for the public to accept the deaths as 'coincidence' or 'accidents'. But the police can't afford to give any credence to the serial killer idea, because A) there isn't one; B) they'd be expected to catch a person who doesn't exist; and C) no matter what they do, or who they say they've caught, the deaths will continue. If there was some reasonable way for the authorities to blame a serial killer, I'm sure they would, but there isn't. Also in Bristol, six college students have died this year alone at a university. They've blamed ALL of those deaths on suicides. Color me skeptical on that...

    [there goes the wine]

Spring frost has ravaged production in some of France's most famous winemaking regions, including Champagne, Bordeaux, and Burgundy, causing at least €1 billion in damage in what vintners call the biggest disaster in a quarter century.

Temperatures plunged below freezing in late April, hurting shoots already well-developed because of earlier mild weather.

Winegrowers have used candles, heaters and even the down-draft from helicopters to try to save crops.

"It's a frost like we haven't seen since 1991," Paul-Francois Vranken, chief executive officer of Vranken-Pommery Monopole told Bloomberg, adding that winemakers "are worried." [more]

Climate change: The greatest shame is the absence of a sense of tragedy

The great climate silence: we are on the edge of the abyss but we ignore it
We continue to plan for the future as if climate scientists don’t exist. The greatest shame is the absence of a sense of tragedy
    http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2017/05/climate-change-greatest-shame-is.html

Our best scientists tell us insistently that a calamity is unfolding, that the life-support systems of the Earth are being damaged in ways that threaten our survival. Yet in the face of these facts we carry on as usual.

Most citizens ignore or downplay the warnings; many of our intellectuals indulge in wishful thinking; and some influential voices declare that nothing at all is happening, that the scientists are deceiving us. Yet the evidence tells us that so powerful have humans become that we have entered this new and dangerous geological epoch, which is defined by the fact that the human imprint on the global environment has now become so large and active that it rivals some of the great forces of nature in its impact on the functioning of the Earth system. [more]

[It isn't that humans are "so powerful," rather it's that we're POLLUTING THE SHIT OUT OF THE BIOSPHERE, NON-STOP!]

The EPA climate website taken down for review was accurate, scientists say
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/05/the-epa-climate-website-taken-down-for.html

As the Environmental Protection Agency proceeds with a large-scale update of its website, its climate change site has been taken down, pending review. But several climate scientists contacted by The Post argue that this is unnecessary.
“If any errors were present, they could have been fixed with minor editing,” said atmospheric scientist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution for Science in an emailed comment, who also noted that he’s never heard of any climate scientist objecting to any information on the website. “There was no cause for a wholesale review of the site’s materials.” [more]

Senior policy adviser says Trump’s EPA chief is here to help the coal industry
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/05/senior-policy-adviser-says-trumps-epa.html

Top staffers at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are signaling they are on the side of the coal industry with remarks given by senior policy advisor Mandy Gunasekara at the coal industry's Eastern Fuel Buyers conference.

The new EPA administration signals a departure from President Barack Obama's EPA, which passed actions like the Clean Power Plan and the Waters of the United States Rule to limit power plant emissions and support water protection.

The Trump administration has rolled back 23 environmental protections to date. Gunasekara took exception to that notion, saying "we're rooting out what is superfluous and what is not necessary to actually achieve meaningful environmental protection."

She added, "We'll do a lot more. We're going to keep going" on rolling back existing environmental regulation. Gunasekara told the crowd she will help "tear back the problems that stemmed from decisions of the last administration." [more]
