Event Update For 2017-05-05

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Study: Alarming decrease in oceans' dissolved oxygen level

    [Canfield Ocean, here we come]

In an earlier study, Ito and other researchers explored why oxygen depletion was more pronounced in tropical waters in the Pacific Ocean. They found that air pollution drifting from East Asia out over the world's largest ocean contributed to oxygen levels falling in tropical waters thousands of miles away.

Once ocean currents carried the iron and nitrogen pollution to the tropics, photosynthesizing phytoplankton went into overdrive consuming the excess nutrients. But rather than increasing oxygen, the net result of the chain reaction was the depletion oxygen in subsurface water. [more]

He said his insurance won't cover any of the damage.

Unusual wind storm hits Vermont, New York

The gravity wave appears to have been of a substantial enough amplitude to bring down very strong winds from aloft. The winds from 5,000 feet in the atmosphere were about 75 mph and appear to have mixed right down to the ground as this vertical wave resulted in one hell of an atmospheric ripple. The terrain absolutely played a part in this - as all of the powerful winds occurred just west of the Green Mountains (Killington, near Rutland, is ~4200 feet) and another band of strong winds occurred just west of the Taconic Mountains in eastern New York.

What triggered the gravity wave isn't clear either. Gravity waves are not uncommon - we see small ones all the time during storms but gravity waves that produce a 9mb pressure drop in an hour are very unusual and can produce really nasty winds. [more]

In fact, Churu recorded day maximum at 46.1°C on Saturday and was also the hottest city in the country.
Day maximums have been settling several notches above the normal average to the tune of 4-5 degrees.

  3. Yeah, I thought that was pretty odd too - two different weird events with 'gaur' involved!

I don't think you'll lose coverage because you have acne or whatever - they can't just drop you. Instead you'll lose coverage because you can't afford the premiums for people with acne or whatever - charge you a sh#tload more, THAT they would be able to do. But the result is the same, at least for the average not-rich person - lost coverage. Then more people using emergency rooms, which then drives up healthcare costs for everyone who DOES have health insurance, which sends more people to the emergency rooms. The old healthcare 'death spiral', brought back to life and reinvigorated - that's apparently the plan.

  4. On the plus side, if this 'plan' passes the Senate, bankruptcy lawyers and morticians should see a significant uptick in business. Growth! Jobs! Hey, if you squint hard enough, you can find a silver lining in just about anything!

Tom Skilling, scientists at climate forum warn of severe weather changes ahead

One of Chicago's most venerated meteorologists joined a Naperville congressman, several scientists and a former EPA regulator at North Central College Saturday to discuss climate change data and urge individuals to take action.
"I didn't come to my current view on climate change easily. I was skeptical," WGN-TV meteorologist Tom Skilling told the sold-out audience of 200. He explained how science can prove that greenhouse gases change the jet streams, which in turn affect weather. These changes are leading to more powerful hurricanes, more damaging tornadoes and more severe flooding, he said. [more]
