Event Update For 2021-05-07

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. So I was thinking about vaccinations and trying to come up with an objective way to measure their worthwhileness. So I did some math. I had to start with some assumptions. The first assumption was that every death recorded in the VAERS database was a valid entry (unlikely) and that every single death was in fact caused by the vaccine (also unlikely). Next, I went with the CDC Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) of 0.7%. If they're undercounting deaths or overcounting infections (both quite possible) then that number is conservative. I assumed that the predictions that at least half of people will be infected by COVID-19 were correct. And finally I assumed that the 95% efficacy rate of the Pfizer vaccine is correct.

So, using a population of 10,000 people, with the above assumptions in mind, the numbers broke down like this:

    With Vaccine:

    1 Vaccine Death
    2 COVID-19 Deaths (250 infections at 0.7% IFR)
    ------------------
    3 Total Deaths

    Without Vaccine:

    0 Vaccine Deaths
    35 COVID-19 Deaths (5000 infections at 0.7 IFR)
    ------------------
    35 Total Deaths

If the assumptions are in the ballpark then we'd expect to see fatalities drop by around 90% in a given population after widespread vaccinations. The best test case to look at is Israel because they've gone to town on vaccinations. The result? Their fatalities have dropped 89%. Pretty close!

So from a cost-benefit analysis, with 'cost' measured in human lives, a given population should have about 90% fewer COVID and vaccine-related deaths if they are vaccinated compared to if they are not. Of course, problems could crop up that drastically alter things, but SO FAR that's what it looks like, and SO FAR these numbers are pretty closely reflected in observations.

  2. Sinking Sunday Jonny, all.

Great analysis! Again, i'm worried more about the long-term affects these new, experimental mrna gene-therapy vectors will have on humanity (since it DEFINITELY alters the dna of shot takers). Are they indeed producing MORE of the spike protein and inadvertently (to them) causing more infection in the general population? Will it cause their demise when re-introduced to Covid this fall (from cytokine storm phenomenon)? We'll see.

  3. 'Mother Trees' are intelligent: They learn and remember
    https://www.sott.net/article/452448-Mother-Trees-are-intelligent-They-learn-and-remember

Few researchers have had the pop culture impact of Suzanne Simard. The University of British Columbia ecologist was the model for Patricia Westerford, a controversial tree scientist in Richard Powers's 2019 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Overstory. Simard's work also inspired James Cameron's vision of the godlike "Tree of Souls" in his 2009 box office hit Avatar. And her research was prominently featured in German forester Peter Wohlleben's 2016 nonfiction bestseller The Hidden Life of Trees.

What captured the public's imagination was Simard's findings that trees are social beings that exchange nutrients, help one another and communicate about insect pests and other environmental threats.

Previous ecologists had focused on what happens aboveground, but Simard used radioactive isotopes of carbon to trace how trees share resources and information with one another through an intricately interconnected network of mycorrhizal fungi that colonize trees' roots. In more recent work, she has found evidence that trees recognize their own kin and favor them with the lion's share of their bounty, especially when the saplings are most vulnerable.

Simard's first book, Finding the Mother Tree: Discovering the Wisdom of the Forest, was released by Knopf this week. In it, she argues that forests are not collections of isolated organisms but webs of constantly evolving relationships. Humans have been unraveling these webs for years, she says, through destructive practices such as clear-cutting and fire suppression. Now they are causing climate change to advance faster than trees can adapt, leading to species die-offs and a sharp increase in infestations by pests such as the bark beetles that have devastated forests throughout western North America.

Simard says people can take many actions to help forests [more]

  5. From a Shot in the Arm to a Shot in the Foot — Biden’s Vaccine Blunder
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/shot-arm-shot-foot-biden-225252071.html

Just in case its tax plans were not evidence enough that the Biden administration has little understanding of the value of incentives, its proposal that intellectual-property protections should be waived in the case of COVID-19 vaccines bolstered the message that no economically productive deed should go unpunished.

in Lesh’s view, the administration’s move was “a lazy, virtue signaling stunt rather than a meaningful solution.” It is hard to disagree. And even if the waiver doesn’t go through, the signal sent by the administration’s proposal, whether it’s the contempt for private property, the disdain for the power of incentive, or the willingness to trash (another) successful American industry (remember the steps that have been taken against fracking) is unlikely to be forgotten — with results that will inhibit American innovation, throw away American jobs, and, in due course, cost lives, not just in America, but all over the world.

Of course, no one should doubt for a moment, to quote Katherine Tai, the United States Trade Representative, that the pandemic is a “global crisis” and that these are “extraordinary circumstances.” But at a time when the White House is also touting a climate “emergency” as another global crisis, the implied reassurance that this is a one-off is less than reassuring, and as for the means by which the administration is proceeding, well . . .[in longer quote:]

  6. Frost may become widespread concern as chilly air lingers

[usually, people plant new greenery after Mother's Day around here]

Temperatures are forecast to stay below normal as the week begins.

"Overnight temperatures will be of concern for gardeners and fruit production interests across the mid-Atlantic Tuesday night, especially from western New York through far northwestern Virginia," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Randy Adkins.

It is possible that some of the coldest locations could drop below freezing on Tuesday night, as Canadian high pressure settles into the region. However, this would likely be primarily in the Adirondacks of northern New York, where many trees have yet to bud. Farther south and east, the situation is different.

"With regard to fruit trees, many areas are a couple of weeks ahead of normal with regard to bud stages with some trees already post bloom," said Adkins.

He also explained that this makes the trees less tolerant to the cold.

"Any warm-season plants that have been put into the ground will likely need to be covered, with potted plants likely needing to be brought in," Adkins said. "More cold-tolerant plants like kale, spinach or peas may be able to tolerate the cold shot."

Warmer air should begin to move into the Northeast by Wednesday. Although temperatures are still expected to be below normal for the middle of May, lows are expected to fall no lower than the upper 30s and lower 40s, which is high enough to prevent frost. [more]

Florida reports more than 10,000 COVID-19 variant cases, surge after spring break
    https://www.yahoo.com/gma/florida-reports-more-10-000-110405601.html

In total, variants have led to the hospitalization of 243 residents and the death of 67 people in Florida, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Only 1% of all COVID-19 cases in Florida undergo testing to study their genetic coding, meaning the number of variant infections is likely much higher than reported.

In Florida, the B.1.1.7. variant, which first emerged in the United Kingdom in December, makes up the highest number of variant cases. There are also several reports of the South African and Brazilian variants.

As of May 1, Miami-Dade County led the state with 2,279 variant cases, followed by Broward County with 1,950 variant cases, the Sun Sentinel reported.

While variants seem to be gaining traction, overall COVID-19 cases in the Sunshine State are slowing. Health officials reported a 4.67% COVID-19 positivity rate on Friday -- the second day in a row that it has dipped below 5%, per state data.

doctors are warning the public to stay vigilant and get vaccinated to prevent cases from going back up. [more]

  7. DEP: Water working to extinguish fire in Trevorton; foam, inert gas on hold
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/dep-water-working-extinguish-fire-171700501.html

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection remains optimistic that the continued mass dumping of water down a mine slope near Trevorton is working to extinguish an underground fire.

More than 670,000 gallons of water have been dumped into the slope since Saturday, according to Megan Lehman, environmental community relations specialist, Williamsport.

Since the volume of smoke decreased and the fire's scent weakened, she said DEP believes the water soak is working. DEP is putting on hold potential plans to take a more technical and costly approach such as using firefighting foam or inert gas to smother the fire.
