Event Update For 2016-01-22

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Breaking - M6.8 earthquake strikes on the coast in southern Alaska:

  2. Good catch, Jonny!

It's impressive that people are finally realizing that taking a walk or being by natural water sources can lead to an early demise (this is snark . . ).

We were fortunate here that we didn't get the 60 mph gusts of wind, though it did blow steadily all afternoon, and specifically between 2 and 5, dumping HUGE amounts of snow - we ended up with about 2' all told. The drifts are much deeper. i have a window sized drift covering my front porch.

Gonna head out and do the driveway, hopefully for the last time with this storm. i'll be back in a while.

Mysterious earth crack nearly a kilometer in length terrifies residents of Aponte, Colombia

What started with a small fissure in early 2015 is today a giant mysterious earth crack nearly a kilometer in length that crosses the village of Aponte, Colombia. The crack has caused enormous damage to roads and houses in the village of Aponte in Nariño. At least 210 families are affected by this geological anomaly.

The gigantic crack is growing and devastating Aponte, Colombia, but nobody knows its origin.

The unexplained crack in the ground is 1,200 meters long and 50 centimeters wide. At some points its depth reaches up to four meters.

  3. Wow, big scary crack there! And damn, two feet of snow, that's nothing to sneeze at. There's some warmer air passing through here now and melting our snow, so hopefully some of that will get to the East Coast.

  4. whew

Gettin' the 30" of snow off my car (and that side of the driveway) proved to be the most work. The bottom too, where the drive meets the street - the enormous highway plow came in the cul de sac and made one gigantic 10' pass, swung around and right back out, salt shooting out the back dispenser. It was too much for my snow thrower at that point and i had to shovel a path through it so that the machine could then chew off walls in foot wide shavings to get it done. It wasn't real heavy and wet either, call it "regular" snow (if we were Inuit we'd know what it was), but there was a lot of it for one snowfall. Shut down the whole upper east coast up to NY from like Virginia. Impressive storm. Glad it's over.
