2015-12-20 - Unknown fumes sicken people at a Kohl's store in Secaucus (New Jersey), near the Hackensack River and the coast:

Quote: "The Kohl's at Mill Creek Mall was evacuated last night when more than a dozen shoppers fell ill from an unknown airborne substance, police said."

Note: The fumes were worst near the cash registers, which means near the entrance to the store, which means closest to the outside. Sounds like a cloud of hydrogen sulfide blew in through the entrance, or maybe some got sucked into the store via the HVAC system. Those people are lucky to still be alive, but hydrogen sulfide can kill with a delayed reaction of minutes, hours, or even a few days, so some of these people may yet drop dead of a heart attack or a stroke or 'Sudden Adult Death Syndrome' or have an 'untimely death'. Even if some of them do drop dead in the next few days, the odds are that we'll never hear about it...

Note: I used to do the 21-gun salute at funerals for Army veterans as part of the Honor Guard in Arizona. I'd guess it cost around five grand per funeral (transport, lodging, meals, etc), so it wasn't exactly cheap to bus in the teams to do it, but it's sad that this is where the sequestration budget cuts hit...

Quote: "Fires around Lake Baikal, including the nearby Irkutsk and Buryatia regions, tore through hundreds of square miles in the pristine area, with locals and campers forced to dig ditches as state media at one point offered the theory that fires were fuelled by 'self-igniting air' caused by ozone anomalies."

Note: Don't need any 'ozone anomalies' when there's lots of methane leaking from the permafrost and sometimes just plain exploding out of the ground, as has happened multiple times in Siberia. You'd think they'd be more aware of such things happening in their own country. Maybe they missed that giant cloud of hydrogen sulfide that hit Moscow too, mentioned in the 2014-11-10 update, or maybe they're unaware that hydrogen sulfide is also explosively flammable. 2015-12-26 - Major winter storm to blast Central US with blizzard conditions, severe weather, life-threatening flooding:

2015-12-26 - Kamchatka (Russia) cut off from the world due to heavy snowfall:

Note: Lots of major destructive events involving large amounts of rainfall, hail and snow in recent times, and especially in the last year or two. It's getting worse and these events are escalating concurrently with the increasing amounts of methane spewing into the atmosphere, which is no coincidence. Methane reacts with ozone and hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere and degrades into CO2 and water. So as methane enters the atmosphere, we're losing hydroxyl radicals and ozone in the atmosphere (both of which protect us from UV radiation) and at the same time, more water is created in the atmosphere, and we're seeing more incidents involving unusual amounts of precipitation. Sometimes the precipitation will be water, sometimes snow, sometimes hail, but whatever the form of the water falling from the sky, there's going to be more of it.

This is obviously already happening, and it's sure to get worse, at least until we run out of hydroxyl radicals and ozone in the atmosphere. When THAT happens, the Earth will be hit by extreme levels of UV radiation, skin cancer rates will skyrocket, and crops and trees and animals will die off even harder than they already are. So the massive high-precip events are, in a way, sort of a good sign, in the sense that such events indicate that our atmospheric UV protection is not yet entirely destroyed. But as it IS wiped out, you'll see the Sun looking more and more white, as opposed to the yellow that it once was - that's more 'blue' UV light getting through, making the Sun look whiter. If the Sun seems to sting your skin, that's because you're being fried by the rising levels of UV. This will damage DNA/RNA and cause more problems with mutations - albinos, four-armed two-headed people and animals, babies born missing parts of their brains, genetic chimeras, that sort of thing...

2015-12-31 - Rotten egg odor alarms people in Lubbock (Texas), blamed on mercaptan:

Note: Even if it IS mercaptan, mercaptan is essentially the same as hydrogen sulfide: flammable, poisonous, neurotoxic. As per this CDC document: "Because no useful data on acute inhalation toxicity are available on which to base the IDLH for methyl mercaptan, the chosen IDLH is based on an analogy with hydrogen sulfide. ACGIH [1971] reported that some investigators show toxicities of the same magnitude for hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan [Ljunggren and Norberg 1943]; others indicate that the toxicity of methyl mercaptan is somewhat less than that of hydrogen sulfide [DeRekowski 1893; Frankel 1921]." So yeah, they're being hit by poison gas, and that's certainly cause for concern if you're one of those wanna-stay-alive kind of people. Same thing with the rotten egg odor around that giant gas leak near Porter Ranch (California)...
