Event Update For 2017-04-28

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Why the Federal Flood Insurance Program is $24.6 billion under water

As the nation faces growing challenges of powerful storms and widespread flooding fueled by climate change and overbuilding on water view property, the federal government has incurred massive debt providing Americans with low-cost flood insurance.

The program essentially transferred the financial burden of flood risk from property owners to the federal government by offering policies with premiums well below market levels.
Despite repeated efforts to contain the cost of disaster response and encourage individuals and businesses to build outside of flood plains, government-subsidized insurance premiums haven’t kept up with the government’s risks. [more]

Woman Reportedly Bitten By Shark at Calif. Beach

Erin Brockovich on the future of water - distilling toxins for truth

Come take a ride on America's toxic water slide: First stop: Flint, Michigan, where two years later, people are still contending with lead-laced water, which was finally detected by the EPA in February 2015 with the help of resident Lee Anne Walters. Next stop: California, where hundreds of wells have been contaminated with 1,2,3-TCP, a Big Oil-manufactured chemical present in pesticides. Travel to the East to see the significant amounts of 1,4-dioxane, an industry solvent stabilizer that continue to pollute the waters belonging to North Carolina's Cape Fear River Basin. In New York and Pennsylvania, residents are contending with outbreaks of waterborne Legionnaires' disease (the bacteria grow easily in water distribution systems and often hide in the biofilm of aging pipes). Meanwhile, in June 2016, kids in Hoosick Falls, New York, protested in the streets with placards around their necks that featured PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid, a man-made chemical used in Teflon) levels to denote how much has infiltrated their blood through tainted water. Drop to Houston, Texas, where high levels of hexavalent chromium, the cancer-causing chemical made infamous by Erin Brockovich, are turning up in tap water while thousands of fracking poisons overrun imperiled communities and Indigenous reservations. And, to add to the cesspit, just four days after Trump was sworn in, he sanctioned the $3.8 billion, 1,170-mile Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) that will create underground contamination.

Yes, indeed, the story of water in America is dirty and deep. The tale took a toxic turn in the 1930s, during the dawn of the chemical industry, when many horrifying toxins were first being introduced into our landscape. Quality reports on what flows out of American faucets today read like a description for liquid cancer.

And the water we do have isn't enough. Since 2008, nearly every region of the US has experienced a water shortage. [more]

    The time stamp reads 4.36am.

The RAAF confirmed to police there was no aircraft in the sky at the time that may have explained the reports. The footage lasts for just over two minutes and clearly shows the unexplained light. [more]

Canada's largest alternative mortgage lender just had a bank run and is on edge of collapse

After two years of recurring warnings (both on this website and elsewhere) that Canada's largest alternative (i.e., non-bank) mortgage lender is fundamentally insolvent, kept alive only courtesy of the Canadian housing bubble which until last week had managed to lift all boats, Home Capital Group suffered a spectacular spectacular implosion last week when its stock price crashed by the most on record after HCG revealed that it had taken out an emergency $2 billion line of credit from an unnamed counterparty with an effective rate as high as 22.5%, indicative of a business model on the verge of collapse .

The power of gold: Why Deutsche Bundesbank had to promise to leave 1200 tons in New York

[a good quick read, but skipping to the last paragraph]

It is of critical importance for the US to have a very large part of the world’s official gold reserves under their control. The status of the dollar as world currency allows the US to buy up stocks, companies, commodities and more from the whole world with pieces of paper they can print themselves. It allows them to force banks and companies in other countries to abide by US law. A currency backed by gold could become a serious threat to the exceedingly valuable predominance of the dollar, especially these days, when the dollar-printing presses are running at full throttle. Knowing this, the United States had the International Monetary Fund (IMF) prohibiting its member-countries in 1978 to give their currencies an explicit gold backing. However, the IMF has no army. If a country left the IMF and did it anyway, they could not do anything. But the US could. It would not be hard in such a situation to point to some-rule breaking or some unfairness or dangerousness for the world-financial-system of the contender’s plan to link their currency to gold. This would give justification to the US not hand out the gold under its control. This is what the fight about the place of storage of official gold is about. The monetary value of it is largely irrelevant in comparison.  [25.2.17]
