Event Update For 2017-04-11

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2017-04-11 - Global warming could thaw far more permafrost than expected:

Quote: "There is already significant evidence that the tundra is starting to break up with a massive crater known as the Gateway to the Underworld growing in Siberia at an alarming rate."

Quote: "But scientists do agree that Arctic permafrost has a formidable potential to affect the climate. Estimates suggest that the amount of carbon it contains may be up twice the amount of carbon currently housed in the atmosphere."

Note: So there's the equivalent of almost 800 ppm of carbon dioxide locked up in the permafrost, which has already started to significantly melt away. If that were added to the 400 ppm we already have in the atmosphere, that'd be 1200 ppm, or 200 ppm more than what scientists have estimated was present in the atmosphere for the Permian-Triassic extinction event, called The Great Dying. So this is another sign that a repeat of the Permian-Triassic extinction is underway now. This may be how it began back then too - volcanic eruptions burned a bunch of coal (instead of humans, but the source is irrelevant to the Earth), the CO2 levels hit 400-ish ppm, the Earth heated up and melted the permafrost which kicked the levels up to 1000+ ppm, and the oceans and seas went anoxic enough to spew enough hydrogen sulfide into the seas and the atmosphere to kill off 96% of all ocean species and 70% of all land species. So yeah, that's what's coming our way, and it has already begun.

And the permafrost isn't even the only source of greenhouse gases. There are numerous oceanic methane clathrate deposits that are ALSO now melting, off both the US East and West Coasts, off the coast of New Zealand, in the sea near Svalbard, etc, so we may see WORSE than 'The Great Dying'. Well, WE won't see it, because we'll all be long gone way before it gets that bad. But the EARTH may see worse than 'The Great Dying', and it took 30 million years to fully recover from that, so it may take 35 or 40 million years for the Earth to fully recover after the current extinction event has run its course...

Toddler hospitalized after pit bull attack in Elmwood Place, Ohio

A toddler was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Wednesday night after a dog attacked her in her own back yard, according to police.

Keith McAfee said he was helping his cousin with yardwork nearby when he heard the sound of the girl's screaming.

"The next thing I see is a black pit bull had a little girl on the ground. (It) was basically shaking her around like she was a rag doll," he said.

He said he approached the dog and attempted to scare it away, but it continued to attack the girl. She only escaped, according to McAfee, when her mother stepped in to grab her and run. Multiple witnesses had called police, and the girl was taken to Children's Hospital in an ambulance. [more]

In a comment in his current thread, Robert Scribbler completely illustrates where SOTT comes up with it's "new" mini-Ice Age meme:

    robertscribbler  /  April 12, 2017
The 70s ice age yarn was the first climate misinformation campaign. It’s worth noting that even then a majority of the science was settled on warming. It might have been a 70-30 or 80-20 consensus then. But it was considerable, though not the 97 to 99 consensus that we have now.

U.S. drops "mother of all bombs" in Afghanistan, marking weapon's first use

The U.S. dropped a bomb containing 11 tons of explosives on a cave complex used by the Afghanistan branch of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) along the border with Pakistan on Thursday, the Pentagon said.
The bomb is officially called a GBU-43 or Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), leading to its nickname as the “mother of all bombs.” The weapon is the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used in combat.
The strike had been in the works for a number of months, with planning dating back to the Obama administration, CBS News correspondent David Martin reports. The weapon was brought into Afghanistan specifically for Thursday’s mission.  [more]

[this is the story Jonny has above, just wanted to comment]
Thousands of dead perch found in Lake Michigan

authorities believe a phenomenon known as upwelling, or turnover, may be to blame for the die-off. Upwelling occurs when deep, cold water rises to the surface, displacing the warmer, nutrient-depleted water above. As the cold water ascends, fish are often drawn upward as well, which may explain why the perch surfaced.

Parasites and disease can also cause seasonal fish kills, according to the DNR. [more]

[upwelling my ass - yer guessin'! an' yeah, so can nuke radiation, but what DID kill 'em? . . nobody's sayin.' Bet Jonny finds an incident near there recently or soon.]
