Event Update For 2020-01-12

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2020-01-12 - Mysterious flash in the sky spotted over Bethel (Ohio):
http://www.fox19.com/2020/01/14/red-orange-flash-reported-skies-above-clermont-county-i-thought-it-was-an-explosion/

Quote: "'In the video you’ll see it slowly, slowly, and then it gets really bright like dusk or a firework or lightning in the background,' Tim explained. The father-daughter duo admit it scared them at first. They also say, despite the bright colors and length of the incident, they never heard a sound."

Quote: "We also asked an astronomer if this could be a meteor. He says no, because a meteor would flash above the clouds rather than below. As for lightning, the nearest strike was hundreds of miles away. We know what it wasn’t. But as of now, what this flash was remains a mystery."

Note: That could have been flammable gases in the atmosphere igniting and burning off in a big 'flash fire'. A man saw something like that off the coast of Washington a year or so ago too, a big expanding ball of fire in the sky, with no noise...

  3. The Robots Are Coming, And They Are Going To Take Over Millions Of Jobs
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/the-robots-are-coming-and-they-are-going-to-take-over-millions-of-jobs

When we get to a point where literally just about everything can be done more cheaply and more efficiently by robots, the elite won’t have any use for the rest of us at all. For most of human history, the wealthy have needed the poor to do the work that is necessary to run their businesses and make them even wealthier. In this day and age we like to call ourselves “employees”, but in reality we are their servants. Some of us may be more well paid than others, but the vast majority of us are expending our best years serving their enterprises so that we can pay the bills. Unfortunately, that paradigm is rapidly changing, and many of the jobs that humans are doing today will be done by robots in the not too distant future. In fact, millions of human workers have already been displaced, and as you will see below experts are warning that the job losses are likely to greatly accelerate in the years to come.

[and don't think it will only be the low end of the job market where this will occur. They've already shown that robots can read x-ray charts better and faster than most doctors, surgery can be done more efficiently too, it's said, though i don't buy it when operations go south and you have to scramble to keep the patient from crashing. Air traffic control, and many other highly skilled jobs can also be done by robots. i read somewhere that robots can build houses now too.]

The mysterious tiny moon Phobos: A potato-shaped moon orbiting Mars in a way scientists insist is not possible: A Soviet "Close Encounter" and a mysterious Monolith (extraordinary videos)
    http://www.thebigwobble.org/2020/01/the-mysterious-tiny-moon-phobos-potato.html

It's Greek name Phobos is a personification of a fear held to possess armies and cause their defeat.
It is a potato-shaped moon orbiting Mars in a way scientists insist is not possible and is also the smallest moon in our Solar System. Scientists claim the moon's orbit is so close to Mars it should have succumbed to the planet's gravity long ago. It has a beaten-up appearance and looks like it has been involved in a battle and has tiny crater chains on its surface which resemble stress lines but the most astonishing fact about Phobos is, it has a monolith, see below. [shades of 2001 movie!]

Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin thinks the public would be interested in the monolith on Phobos, and leading Russian scientists believe Phobos is man-made.

On March 28th 1989 Russian ground controllers suddenly and unexpectedly lost contact with their spacecraft which was shadowing Phobos. The last photograph taken by the spacecraft contained an object close to Phobos which should not have been there, the picture below. [more; videos and pics]

Huge sinkhole swallows bus, kills nine in China
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/huge-sinkhole-swallows-bus-kills-six-china-031514249.html

Beijing (AFP) - An enormous sinkhole swallowed a bus and pedestrians in northwest China, sparking an explosion and killing nine people, state media said Tuesday.

Footage showed people at a bus stop running from the collapsing road as the vehicle -- jutting into the air -- sank into the ground.

Several people disappeared into the sinkhole as it spread, including what appeared to be a child. The incident also triggered an explosion inside the hole, video showed.

[i hadn't heard about the explosion]

The collapse left an 80-square-metre (860-square-foot) pit in the street outside a hospital.

The 16 injured were taken to hospital and are in a stable condition, Xinhua added, citing a local emergency management official.

Xinhua said earlier that four people were missing, although CCTV did not specify how many remained unaccounted for as of Tuesday night. [more]

Graphic: Crude exports boom on U.S. Gulf Coast, allaying bottleneck fears
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/graphic-crude-exports-boom-u-122602812.html

U.S. crude exports from Corpus Christi, Texas, have surged to a record in recent weeks, often surpassing hubs such as Houston and Beaumont, Texas, thanks to faster-than-expected infrastructure additions.

The infrastructure boom at Corpus Christi helped push crude exports there to a weekly record of 1.59 million barrels per day (bpd) in late December, more than doubling levels that held for the first eight months of last year, and above Houston's 2019 peak of 1.36 million bpd, according to vessel-tracking firm ClipperData.

The heavy flows suggest that fears of a bottleneck that would impede U.S. exports have not materialized.

Analysts had expected a crude bottleneck in the Permian Basin to shift to the Gulf Coast as three new pipelines opened last year. New flows out of the nation's biggest oil field were expected to overwhelm export capacity in Corpus Christi and weigh on regional prices. 6. 'Normal' Human Body Temperature Has Changed In the Last Century
    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/normal-human-body-temperature-changed-162917118.html

since 1871, “normal” has meant 98.6°F (37°C). That number was determined by a German physician, based on millions of readings from 25,000 German patients, taken by sticking thermometers under their arms. When doctors in the U.S. and Europe repeated the experiment in local populations, they came up with the same number, so it stuck.

But in a paper published last week in eLife, researchers at Stanford University reported that the normal human body temperature has dropped since that time. And that means the standards that doctors have been using to define normal temperature and fever might need to be reworked.

Julie Parsonnet, a professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, and her team analyzed data from three large databases involving more than 677,000 temperature readings from nearly 190,000 people, collected between 1862 and 2017. The first dataset is drawn from health information collected on Union Army soldiers from 1862 to 1930. The second, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, comes from U.S. population-wide data from 1971 to 1975. The third is the most recent, and includes measurements taken by the Stanford Translational Research Integrated Database Environment study from 2007 to 2017.

The team found that average body temperatures in the earliest database, from the Union Army veterans, were higher than the temperatures recorded in each of the latter two periods. On average, the temperatures dropped by 0.03°C and 0.29°C per decade for men and women, respectively, over the 150-year span. To address the issue of whether thermometers were less accurate in earlier times, or whether previous generations of doctors measured temperature differently, the scientists also compared body temperatures within a single population, to minimize any potential measurement bias. Within the Union Army population, for example, the trend remained strong; temperatures were higher among those born earlier than among those born later, by about 0.02°C per decade. [more; now THAT'S a survey! possibly the .29 should be .029, very close to the men's temp., otherwise it's 10 times higher!]

Flood-hit Jakarta residents sue over deadly disaster

[Govt. @ trial: "It was an act of Allah!" and rest their case]

More than 200 flood victims are seeking a total of 43 billion rupiah ($3 million) in compensation in the class action, which was filed Monday in Jakarta district court.

The suit claims Governor Anies Baswedan was responsible for failing to provide the megacity with a proper early-warning system and effective emergency measures to minimise deaths and financial losses.

Whole neighbourhoods in the capital -- a megalopolis home to around 30 million people -- were submerged by floodwaters that forced tens of thousands into temporary shelters after torrential rains that began on New Year's Eve.

It was the city's deadliest flooding in years, with Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency saying downpours that sparked floods and landslides were the heaviest in the capital since record-keeping began in the 19th century. [more]

New climate models suggest Paris goals may be out of reach

Seven of those cases are thought to be serious, and one person – with serious pre-existing health problems – has died. The WHO has also just announced the first case outside China. A traveller from Wuhan, now in Thailand, has been confirmed by the WHO to have contracted the virus.

The World Health Organisation has urged countries around the world to enhance their surveillance of severe acute respiratory infections, although no travel restrictions have been advised. There is no licensed vaccine or specific treatments for the new virus. [more]

PG&E Corp.’s $1.68 billion settlement agreement with California over wildfires sparked by its power lines could save the bankrupt utility about $470 million in taxes.

Kentucky miners block coal train over missed paychecks
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/kentucky-miners-block-coal-train-002506254.html

Some Kentucky coal miners and their families stood on train tracks Monday to prevent a train loaded with coal from leaving, saying they had worked since Dec. 16 without being paid.

The tracks lead from Quest Energy in Pike County. A CSX crew went to the tracks to get the engine and left the loaded train cars there, WYMT-TV reported.

Miners told the station they expected to be paid Friday, then were told to wait until Monday, when the date was pushed back again.

Quest Energy was closed for the day and couldn't be reached for comment later Monday. [more]

'The most amazing shot in the history of snooker'
    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/most-amazing-shot-history-snooker-100535805.html

The snooker world was left absolutely stunned at the Masters 2020 when Scot Stephen Maguire hit an incredible shot, which ultimately backfired. Maguire was taking on Aussie Neil Robertson in the opening round of the Masters when the Scot stepped up to complete an incredible comeback. But everyone in the building, including Robertson and the commentators, were left gobsmacked after Maguire sunk the red and white ball in a near impossible shot. Looking to sink the red in the corner pocket, Maguire hit the white with pace forcing the red ball to go into the pocket and shoot back out straight in the air. However, the red ball had such tremendous back spin it spun straight back in after bouncing. But the shot didn’t pan out as the cue ball hit the lip of the middle pocket and somehow kept spinning and fell into the far pocket resulting in a foul. “Incredible, you will never see anything like that again,” Joe Johnson said in Eurosport commentary. Robertson’s face was one of bewilderment and he even cracked a slight smile, while Maguire lapped up the applause from the crowd.

Evolution is often seen as a mysterious process, but it’s actually predictable, and if life on Earth evolved again it would come out the same way.

That’s the conclusion of an ambitious scientific analysis of 10,000 different birds, which compared the features they have evolved with their lifestyles.

The researchers found that birds with similar lifestyles evolved similar features - even if they were on different sides of the globe.

The finding could help scientists predict how bird species will respond to climate change, and how the loss of one particular species will affect larger ecosystems. [more]

The Amish Keep to Themselves. And They’re Hiding a Horrifying Secret
    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/amish-keep-themselves-hiding-horrifying-130000888.html

By age 9, she says, she’d been raped by one of her older brothers. By 12, she’d been abused by her father, Abner*, a chiropractor who penetrated her with his fingers on the same table where he saw patients, telling her he was “flipping her uterus” to ensure her fertility. By 14, she says, three more brothers had raped her and she was being attacked in the hayloft or in her own bed multiple times a week. She would roll over afterward, ashamed and confused. The sisters who shared Sadie’s room (and even her bed) never woke up—or if they did, never said anything, although some later confided that they were being raped too.

It wasn’t until now that Sadie decided to speak up, to reveal the darkness beneath the bucolic surface of her childhood. She’s tired of keeping quiet.

Over the past year, I’ve interviewed nearly three dozen Amish people, in addition to law enforcement, judges, attorneys, outreach workers, and scholars. I’ve learned that sexual abuse in their communities is an open secret spanning generations. Victims told me stories of inappropriate touching, groping, fondling, exposure to genitals, digital penetration, coerced oral sex, anal sex, and rape, all at the hands of their own family members, neighbors, and church leaders. Where nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 300-times stronger than CO2, is being emitted
    https://qz.com/1745204/maps-of-nitrous-oxide-emissions-a-potent-greenhouse-gas

If something is burning, nitrous oxide is flowing into the atmosphere. Increasingly, the most concentrated nitrous oxide sources come from humans burning fossil fuels and transforming ecosystems. Natural sources, such as Australia’s currently raging wildfires contribute too (if those fires can even be considered “natural”). [more]

Witness recalls panic after children swept to sea in Oregon
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/witness-recalls-panic-children-swept-205323416.html

Joanne Cornelius had just finished taking photos of the breathtaking waves and extreme high tide outside her home on the Oregon coast when a frantic woman pounded on her window and asked her to call 911.

Children had been washed out to sea by a wave, the woman said.

A family visiting from Portland had been storm-watching on the remote beach Saturday when a powerful wave caught them by surprise, sweeping the father, his 4-year-old son and his 7-year-old daughter into the surf.

A police officer pulled the girl from the waves, but she died at a hospital. The boy's body has not been found, and the U.S. Coast Guard has stopped searching for him. The father, Jeremy Stiles, 47, survived and is recovering from hypothermia at a hospital. [more]
