Event Update For 2018-12-19

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2018-12-19 - Huge magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Japan in 1993 shook up seafloor methane and resulted in massive fires:

Quote: "But the mystery of ships spontaneously bursting into flames following the tsunami crashing into the harbour- with winds from the tsunami driving the blaze further inland has never been solved. As a second tsunami wave hurtled toward shore, it generated powerful winds that pushed the burning boats to the coastal area, spreading the fire into the city. But now, researchers and experts in Japan have claimed that a build-up methane gas on the floor of the Sea of Japan were disturbed by the earthquake was a likely cause of the fires that swept through the area."

Quote: "Using previously 'inaccessible' footage from Japanese broadcaster NHK, Yuji Enomoto, a professor emeritus at Shinshu University in Japan, explained how witnesses at the time described rising mists and seawater 'foaming' before the fires took place. One witness said: 'The offshore area looked shining white and bubbling.' Researchers from the university say the bubbles that witnesses described seeing in 1993 represented methane that was formerly embedded in the seafloor, but was dislodged by the ground sliding. The once-trapped methane bubbles were then squeezed up and out into the air by the tsunami front, which transported them to the shore."

Quote: "The researchers held tests that found when electrostatic energy generated a charge of 0.28 millijoules, the methane would catch fire. The team concluded that methane electrostatically ignited when the wind violently drove released methane into Aonae Harbor's quay. Methane bubbles that had accumulated on the decks of the fishing boats sparked."

Quote: "Professor Enomoto told Live Science that tsunami fires are an 'understudied hazard' - and pointed out significant quantities of methane remain buried in coastal regions of Japan."

Note: There are huge amounts of methane off the US East and West coasts too, and all around India, and in many other areas around the planet. There's more than three times as much energy stored in oceanic methane deposits than all the energy in coal, oil and natural gas deposits on the planet COMBINED. Once the coastal methane deposits start dissociating at a rapid rate, which is just a matter of time, the oceans may turn into gargantuan flamethrowers. A rising number of 'ocean outgassing' incidents have been occurring already in California, concurrent with California being ravaged by increasingly devastating wildfires, so this process has already begun, at least in California, although obviously things will get much much worse...

2018-12-19 - Galahs, magpies and pigeons dropping dead out of the sky in Lower Lakes (Australia):

Quote: "A large number of dead galahs have shown signs of possible poisoning after 'literally falling out of the sky' in South Australia's Lower Lakes region."

Quote: "Ms Hope said she had since heard reports of galahs being found in Murray Bridge and at Goolwa, and hoped the Government took it further to test the environment and find out where the 'chemicals were coming from'. She said in the past week the deaths had crossed species into magpies and pigeons, while a large bird of prey, possibly a wedge-tailed eagle, had been found in an advanced state of decomposition. 'It's face down and has died in the same way. It's really tragic.' She said corellas had just started to arrive in the region but that the galahs came first in larger numbers than usual. It seems they're coming down to the lake because it's so dry up north, but the first flock that came down has become nothing within a couple of weeks. Earlier this year some 200 galahs were found dead in the town of Burra in the state's mid-north. An investigation by the Department for Environment and Water was unable to find a cause of death."

Worst Market Crash In A Decade: The Dow Has Fallen More Than 4000 Points As Stocks Rapidly Approach “The Capitulation Phase”

We have not seen anything like this since the financial crisis of 2008. On Thursday the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost another 464 points, and over the last five trading sessions it has lost a total of more than 1,700 points. CNN’s Fear & Greed index has swung all the way over to “extreme fear”, and there has only been one December in all of U.S. history that was worse for the stock market than this one. But back at the very beginning of October, most of the experts never would have imagined that the year would end this way. According to CNBC, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time record high of 26,951.81 in early October, and investors were feeling really good about things at that point. But on Thursday the index closed at just 22,859.60, and that means that the Dow has lost more than 4,000 points in less than three months.
All of the major trend lines have been shattered and all of the key support levels have been breached. When analysts look at stock charts these days, all they are seeing is sell signal after sell signal. One investment strategist told CNN that stocks are “quickly approaching the capitulation phase”… [more]

Can Doctor Evil Save the World? A Geoengineering Tale

The Asilomar Conference: scientists, technocrats, economists, and government officials gathered to contemplate the end of the world

Last summer, an elite group of scientists, economists and government officials gathered at Snowmass ski resort near Aspen, Colorado, to contemplate the end of the world. The weeklong “workshop, held in the shadow of 14,000-foot-high peaks at the Top of the Village lodge, was organised by the Energy Modeling Forum, a group of academics and industry leaders affiliated with Stanford University. A few months earlier, Stanford professor John Weyant, the director of the group, had asked participants to consider a nightmare scenario: It’s 2010, and global warming is not only happening, it’s accelerating. The Greenland and western Antarctic ice sheets are melting at an exponential rate, leading to predictions of a twenty-foot rise in sea levels by 2070. In this scenario, southern Florida vanishes, New York City becomes an aquarium, London looks like Venice. In Bangladesh alone, 40 million people are displaced by the rising waters. Droughts cripple food production, leading to widespread famine. If you need to put a “sudden stop” on emissions of carbon dioxide, Weyant asked, how — short of shutting down the global economy — would you do it? [more; so they were unaware of the aerosol masking affect?]
