Event Update For 2018-10-14

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

http://insideclimatenews.org/news/12102018/global-warming-solutions-negative-emissions-carbon-capture-technology-ipcc-climate-change-report

Note: So we need to suck from the atmosphere more greenhouse gases than all of humanity emits AND suck more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than are belching into the skies from melting permafrost, burning forests, wetlands emissions and all other sources on the planet. I presume they don't mean this as a joke, but that's not possible. Even if somehow it WERE possible, we don't have the time left to ramp up such facilities to a scale large enough to make a significant difference before we're wiped out, sooooo...buh bye, humanity, you ARE the weakest link! I'm not against trying any or all tactics though, even if they sound kinda crazy. Hey, if all we can do is buy us a little more time, well, I'd rather have that time than not...

Red alert in Aude, massive flash floods leave at least 13 dead, schools closed, France
    https://watchers.news/2018/10/15/aude-carcassonne-floods-france-october-2018/

Meteo France issued Red alert for rain and flooding for the department of Aude in southwestern France early Monday, October 15, 2018. The region received exceptional amounts of rain in just several hours, causing major flash flooding in which at least 13 people lost their lives. Up to 300 mm (11.8 inches) of rain fell in just 6 hours - that's 4 months' worth of October rain. The Aude river has already reached flood levels not seen in 100 years. The bigger they come, the harder they fall. Currently, we are in the terminal phase of an “everything bubble” which has had ten years to grow. It is the biggest financial bubble that our country has ever seen, and experts are warning that when it finally bursts we will experience an economic downturn that is even worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s. 4. Well I thought I'd give my own local weather report. Last week we in central Texas were hotter than usual for early to mid October. This very warm streak ended on Sunday with a high in the low 90s. On Monday, yesterday, our high was 49. We ended the day down around 45 though, and it rained all day. Sometimes the rain was heavy. West of here in the Hill Country there has been flooding rain and many schools over a very wide area are closed today. Whole school districts have closed. Evacuations are underway near the Llano River, which flows into the Colorado River which through a series of dams creates the Highland Lakes, the biggest one being Lake Travis. The increasingly infamous Lake Travis with lots of JJFH deaths this past year. Our forecast is for more of the same today, and for a very wet patter for the foreseeable future.

Dozens still missing in Hurricane Michael, death toll rises and massive destruction assessed
    https://www.sott.net/article/398421-Dozens-still-missing-in-Hurricane-Michael-death-toll-rises-and-massive-destruction-assessed

The death toll from Hurricane Michael continues to mount as rescue and recovery crews work through the vast area along the coastline of the Florida panhandle and further inland that was laid waste by the gigantic storm, the third strongest ever to strike the mainland of the United States.

The official toll was 18 as of Monday, when President Trump and his wife Melania visited the disaster zone briefly as part of a stage-managed political tour, where he stayed as far away from actual victims as possible, while praising his political ally, Republican Governor Rick Scott of Florida, and hailing the work of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The attitude of residents of the area was summed up in the comments of one survivor, 57-year-old Sheila Vann of Panama City, who spoke to the Associated Press in her garage, where she and her husband Joseph were cleaning up after the hurricane tore off most of the roof of her home, collapsing the ceiling. Four freezers filled with fish and meat were starting to rot since power has not been restored. "You want to see the president?" she asked her husband, adding, "I ain't got time unless he wants to help us clean up." [more]

'Very scary' and 'Hyperalarming' study shows massive insect loss - cause unknown
    https://www.sott.net/article/398414-Very-scary-and-Hyperalarming-study-shows-massive-insect-loss-cause-unknown

Insects around the world are in a crisis, according to a small but growing number of long-term studies showing dramatic declines in invertebrate populations. A new report suggests that the problem is more widespread than scientists realized. Huge numbers of bugs have been lost in a pristine national forest in Puerto Rico, the study found, and the forest's insect-eating animals have gone missing, too.

In 2014, an international team of biologists estimated that, in the past 35 years, the abundance of invertebrates such as beetles and bees had decreased by 45 percent. In places where long-term insect data are available, mainly in Europe, insect numbers are plummeting. A study last year showed a 76 percent decrease in flying insects in the past few decades in German nature preserves.

The latest report, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that this startling loss of insect abundance extends to the Americas. The study's authors implicate climate change in the loss of tropical invertebrates. [more]

    https://www.sott.net/article/398432-Goldman-Sachs-says-US-sanctions-policy-against-Russia-is-undermining-dollars-reserve-currency-position

Washington's aggressive policy against Moscow could be a sufficient reason behind the recent fall of the dollar's share of global central-bank reserves, according to economist at US multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Russia's Central Bank has sold some $85 billion of its $150 billion holding of the US assets from April through June after the US Treasury Department announced new sanctions on Russian businessmen, companies and government officials, says Goldman's strategist Zach Pandl said, as quoted by Bloomberg.

According to Pandl, the co-head of global FX and emerging-market strategy, the US policy of unilateral tariff hikes and sanctions is putting at risk the greenback that is still dominating the global currency reserves. [more; China (and others) are doing it too]

Trump EPA disbands science panel on air pollution
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/10/trump-epa-disbands-science-panel-on-air.html

On 11 October 2018, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) disbanded the particulate matter (PM) review panel. In the past, the panel has provided advice to EPA’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC), which is responsible for reviewing the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for criteria pollutants. Under the Clean Air Act, CASAC is required to periodically review the NAAQS, and recommend appropriate changes thereto to protect public health. When reviewing the NAAQS for PM, CASAC has historically relied on advice from the PM review panel, which is comprised of two dozen university researchers and others with special expertise on the health effects of PM. The panel will not, however, have a role in CASAC’s next review. On 11 October 2018, EPA sent an email to panel members, informing them that “the CASAC PM Review Panel will no longer be involved with the Agency’s PM NAAQS Review and your service on the panel has concluded.” [more; go breathe some fumes]
