Event Update For 2018-10-31

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2018-10-31 - Methane seeps growing in the sea floor and spewing increasing amounts of methane in the Arctic:

Quote: "According to specialists, the new area of methane’s massive emissions from sediments has formed recently, as only a few years earlier, during previous expeditions, that field was not found. Thus, they say, the process proves continuing anomalously quick degradation of the permafrost on the ocean floor. Scientists received another confirmation of the continuing processes as they took pictures of the Podkova (horseshoe) seep field. Seeps are areas where methane bubbles fountain from the seafloor. The field’s diameter has multiplied since the previous studies in 2014."

It will be far hotter than that though, and not in some distant century either since the rate of escalation is itself escalating as feedback after feedback kicks in and amplifies the other feedbacks. The planetary momentum involved is already far beyond anything that our flimsy and weak human civilization can do much about other than slightly slow things down, if even that...

  1. Happy Friday Jonny, everyone.

I'm at school a little early (test day). Interesting stuff going on (in the Chinese curse sense of "interesting")

[I'm about to finish 1Q84, in which two moons feature prominently. So this was rather surprising]
'Ghost moons' discovered in orbit around Earth

Astronomers in Hungary say they've detected a pair of what some call "ghost moons" orbiting our planet not far from the moon we all know.

The hazy clouds of dust — tens of thousands of miles across but too faint to be seen with the naked eye — were first detected almost 60 years ago by a Polish astronomer, Kazimierz Kordylewski. But the patches of light he found were too indistinct to convince some scientists that the clouds were really there, and the existence of the "Kordylewski clouds" has long been a matter of controversy.

Now the astronomers, Gabor Horvath and Judit Sliz-Balogh of Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, have obtained clear evidence of the clouds using a specially equipped telescope in a private observatory in western Hungary. [more]

Quick end-of-the-month stat report on garbage truck fires and JJFH events in Hull, Britain.

October was a rare month in our record keeping. We had 16 garbage trucks incinerated over 10 days, the best "burn rate" this year, so far.

In Hull, there were 19 events over 14 days. One day stood out though.

On October 19th, there were a rare 4 JJFH events in Hull - but ON THE SAME DAY as a super-rare 4 garbage trucks burned! The probability of this happening is so negligible that it boggles the mind.

Built from a partnership with Red Bull Racing, the Formula 1-inspired but road-legal car appears to have been further refined since we last saw comprehensive images of a prototype last year. CEO Andy Palmer last month tweeted a 20-second teaser clip to show off the high-revving, F1-like sound of its 6.5-liter V12 engine, which is loosely based on Cosworth's 2.4-liter V8 but rumored to hover above 1,000 horsepower, plus more from a kinetic energy recovery system working the front axle, making it likely the fastest street-legal production car.
