Event Update For 2018-10-07

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "Preventing an extra single degree of heat could make a life-or-death difference in the next few decades for multitudes of people and ecosystems on this fast-warming planet, an international panel of scientists reported Sunday. But they provide little hope the world will rise to the challenge."

Note: Preventing that much warming is impossible. Even if every power plant and car were scrapped and every single human being blew their brains out, today, the methane now spewing from the permafrost and the seas in the Arctic would cause waaaay more than that much warming through unstoppable feedbacks that are already in progress and escalating rapidly. So their hearts are in the right place - and I presume they also don't wanna die - but realistically, logically, they're seeking a goal that's not possible. The best we can do is slow down our extinction, and even then not by much, and that's assuming we were even seriously making the effort to slow our demise, and we are, if anything, working to HASTEN our extermination. Pursuing the recommended goals would help postpone - not avoid - human extinction, but hey, the more postponing we can do the better if you're one of those wanna-stay-alive types...

  1. Hey Jonny, fellow readers - good morning.

Thick humidity, fog, dampness and microscopic drizzle pervade my area today. Not seeing many birds of late either, though the seed feeder has gone down some (neither suet feeder seems to have been touched). Leaves continue falling from the still green trees and the large oak (over 100') outside my back door (~ 30 feet away) looks like it's dying (or really stressed) compared to the others in the yard. We've been recently witnessing the spread of the spotted lantern fly infestation from other areas surrounding us. These little fuckers lay their eggs on trees, which ends up decimating them in the process. It looks like clay or dirt splashed up the trunk and homeowners who see this are supposed to scrape it off into a container and either burn it or dispose of it (usually by pouring bleach or some other caustic substance into the container). Well, that's all well and good, but when your trees go 80' straight up before the first branches, that's not gonna happen unless you hire a climber or an expensive service with a crane to come and remove the eggs and treat the tree for damage.

Damn large boat destruction on this day, geez! Think of the insurance payout for THAT shit!

In the exact spot where Hurricane Katrina demolished the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center, a new $105 million jail now hovers 19 feet above the marsh, perched atop towering concrete pillars. Described by a state official as the “Taj Mahal” of Louisiana corrections, it has so much space that one of every 27 parish residents could bunk there.

But on an average day in the first half of this year, more than 40 percent of its 872 beds went unoccupied, making it one of the emptiest jails in the state, records show. And because of its isolated, flood-prone location, the jail still must be evacuated before any major storm or risk becoming an accidental Alcatraz. [more; BRILLIANT!]

    Rational Self-Destruction
    http://ponziworld.blogspot.com/2018/10/rational-self-destruction.html

When the "system" is predicated upon fucking everyone else, by the end you ARE everyone else...

Trump's tax cut measured in the low trillions is now bursting a global asset bubble measured in the hundreds of trillions. The final cost will be wholly unaffordable for those who believe in "free money" aka. theft

Where Ron Paul and I disagree is the root cause. He sees loose monetary policy. I see greed, greed, and more fucking greed. There's no way monetary policy could be at 0% for eight years if the economy hadn't been outsourced. Something free traders will NEVER admit.

Why will they never admit it? Because NOW we are seeing the final consequences of the morally vacant policy of self-interest taken to its logical self-destructing conclusion: A cabal of venal old degenerates willing to steal any amount of money just to pretend their entire lives haven't been a serial con job. An ever-tightening noose of fraud, corruption, and complicity, all under the guise of "rational self-interest", the morally, intellectually, and financially bankrupt false ideology of the right. 7. Hey Fran! As MrMBB333 says: "Stay safe out there!" I can't even imagine experiencing a tornado. At an old house I used to live in, we experienced straight line winds once that about scared the crap out of everyone. From a sickeningly greenish colored sky came a full bore 65 - 80 mph wind, for about 3 minutes (seemed a LOT longer). Broke up and uprooted a lot of trees along its path, causing some damage, but it could have been much worse (the weather people said). We've had some real blows up here where I am now, but nothing like a tornado. I've seen the pictures. That's as close as I wanna get, thanks.

  8. Trudeau calls liquefied natural gas project in B.C. the biggest private investment in Canada’s history – Climate activists call it “irresponsible”
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/10/trudeau-calls-liquefied-natural-gas.html

B.C. Green party Leader Andrew Weaver said he was “deeply disappointed” that the government went ahead with the project.

“Adding such a massive new source of (greenhouse gases) means that the rest of our economy will have to make even more sacrifices to meet our climate targets,” said Weaver.

“It breaks my heart that the young people of today must watch as politicians who once professed to champion climate action and a hopeful vision for the future instead succumb to the temptation of short-sighted political wins,” he said. [more]

World “nowhere near on track” to avoid warming beyond 1.5C target – “We are moving way too slowly. We have to do more of everything, faster.”
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/10/world-nowhere-near-on-track-to-avoid.html

The world’s governments are “nowhere near on track” to meet their commitment to avoid global warming of more than 1.5C above the pre-industrial period, according to an author of a key UN report that will outline the dangers of breaching this limit.

A massive, immediate transformation in the way the world’s population generates energy, uses transportation and grows food will be required to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5C and the forthcoming analysis is set to lay bare how remote this possibility is.

“While it’s technically possible, it’s extremely improbable, absent a real sea change in the way we evaluate risk. We are nowhere near that.” [more; I don't even think it's technically possible now]
Scientists say halting deforestation “just as urgent” as reducing emissions – “Our planet’s future climate is inextricably tied to the future of its forests”
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/10/scientists-say-halting-deforestation.html

[big hint: trees don't grow in polluted, toxic air]

The role of forests in combating climate change risks being overlooked by the world’s governments, according to a group of scientists that has warned halting deforestation is “just as urgent” as eliminating the use of fossil fuels.

Razing the world’s forests would release more than 3 trillion tons of carbon dioxide, more than the amount locked in identified global reserves of oil, coal, and gas. By protecting and restoring forests, the world would achieve 18% of the emissions mitigation needed by 2030 to avoid runaway climate change, the group of 40 scientists, spanning five countries, said in a statement. Major climate report describes a strong risk of crisis as early as 2040 – “Quite a shock, and quite concerning”
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/10/major-climate-report-describes-strong.html

A landmark report from the United Nations’ scientific panel on climate change paints a far more dire picture of the immediate consequences of climate change than previously thought and says that avoiding the damage requires transforming the world economy at a speed and scale that has “no documented historic precedent.” [more]
