Event Update For 2018-07-11

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2018-07-11 - Mysterious trashy rotten egg odor hitting coastal Songdo Island in the last three years in Incheon (South Korea):

Quote: "Songdo, an island metropolis built on reclaimed land in southern Incheon, has been haunted by a mysterious foul smell over the past three years. According to the Yeonsu District Office last week, its officials have received complaints about unpleasant smells since 2015, but the cause remains elusive. 'This year alone, we have received hundreds of complaints,' an environmental health official told The Korea Times. 'Sometimes it smells like trash. At other times, it's like a smell of gas.' The official said there are no facilities that would cause such odors. Inspectors have looked into suspected places nearby, including a sewage treatment center, landfills and the offices of the Korea Gas Corporation, but failed to determine the cause."

Quote: "We think the smell most likely came from outside the island, perhaps further away than we expect."

Note: Yeah, outside the island, like from the ocean...

2018-07-11 - Chunk of ice half the size of Manhattan cracks off glacier in Greenland:

Quote: "Massive pieces of ice half a kilometre high broke off. The water roiled as the new icebergs rolled and crashed. Then the larger chunk of ice, estimated to be roughly half the size of New York's Manhattan Island, began its journey to the sea. In the end, a piece of ice almost seven kilometres long and one kilometre thick broke off. Five to eight billion tons of ice was lost. It is one of the biggest glacier calving events captured on video."

Note: Greenland is also losing a billion tons of ice PER DAY now, so the equivalent of this calving event is happening every week now, but usually distributed across the landmass instead of in one giant calving event. So Greenland is now losing roughly 25 Manhattans worth of ice per year, and the melt rate is accelerating...

Today's CPI report that shows inflation rose only 0.1%. Real wages are not keeping up even with that.

  4. I bought a little gold back in 2008 or 2009, just a few ounces, back when I thought we might just get some economic doom. I could sell it now for an okay profit (not taking into account inflation), but I don't know what I'd do with the money, and it sounds like a big hassle, with no particularly worthwhile end in sight. Maybe I can trade it for a sandwich or a dead roadkill possum or something later. Heh.

  5. The only value to that metal is its chemical and conductive powers. Like all currency, it assumes a working biosphere where the production of food is possible. Doesn't hurt to have a little though.

Two asteroids whizzed past Earth undetected last weekend

Two tiny asteroids sneaked safely past Earth last weekend, only to be discovered hours after they'd buzzed our planet. Asteroids 2018 NX and 2018 NW zipped past our blue-green orb at distances of just 72,000 miles and 76,000 miles, respectively. That's about one-third of the distance from the Earth to the moon.

Scientists think the asteroids both stretched between about 16 feet and 50 feet in diameter. [more]

    Tax Cut Reversal Of Fortune

In order to keep conning the exact same people with the exact same policies, you have to dumb down the populace to the level of a fucking brick. Culminating with substituting reality with reality TV, and a Manchurian Candidate for a real President

Shockingly thirty-eight years of Supply-Side failure continually recycled as "success", is once again ending in "unforeseen" failure. This will not be a crash, it will be annihilation for those who believe that there is any such thing as reality, in reality TV...

For those keeping track at home, the ball is now in China's court.

The real reason why banks are rolling over is because the tax cut for the ultra-wealthy is only benefiting the ultra-wealthy. Shocking, I know.

That is what the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s warehouse in Puerto Rico looked like as Hurricane Maria made landfall in Sept. 2017. 8 endangered black rhinos found dead in Kenya, officials say it's 'a complete disaster'

There are fewer than 5,500 black rhinos in the world and all of them are located in Africa, according to Save the Rhino estimates. Kenya’s black rhino population alone stands at 750, the World Wide Fund for Nature estimates.
Conservationists have tried to protect the endangered species from poachers targeting the animal for its horn. Three rhinos were killed in a protected Kenyan sanctuary in May. [more; let's hire poachers to pick off the poachers!]

  7. From Jimmy Kimmel Live a couple of nights ago:

"I'm driving to work, and right on the corner of Hollywood and La Brea, I notice that the newspaper box was smoking. It was on fire. First time I passed, there were flames coming out of this thing, so I doubled back to shoot video — because I'm a journalist first and foremost. By the time I got there, a guy from the kabob shop had thrown a pitcher of water on it. If a newspaper bursting into flames isn't the single best metaphor for 2018, I really don’t know what is."

  8. Good spot, Jonny. My wife and I talked about the clothing bursting into flames in Nordstroms and Walmart lately. She attributes it to fabric finishes put on the clothes. I said that they used to be "flame retardants," and that this was the first I've ever heard of clothing IN STORES HANGING ON RACKS just suddenly going up in flames. I didn't bring up all the other times, read here, when people were around a fire pit, burning leaves or debris, a stove or barbecue before THEIR clothing burst into flame. She doesn't want to believe this is all happening, and I don't blame her (shit, I don't wanna believe it either, but I've been talking about it for 40 years - it's REAL).
