Event Update For 2018-04-19

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Great fun last night. We stayed until the 3rd band (On Wa) played their 4th song, while dj Mojo-Risin filled in between the bands setting up, then we ran out of steam, came home and slept in a bit this morning. Warming up slightly and the wind has subsided around here.

To get a feel for how we're doing so far this year, residential explosions occur about once a day (on average), about 2 RV's burn
each day, and around 3 boats are consumed by fire daily. About 7 tractor trailers are destroyed by fire each day so far this year.

I guess they're gonna have to rename that ski resort to HOT Springs Lodge . ..

Nice to hear from a new commenter with some insight into the mysterious death of a popular 28 year old dj and the goings on abroad. Welcome aboard Terra Whey Bella!

FEMA extends hotel deadline just as some Puerto Rican families begin moving out

FEMA granted an 11th-hour, short-term reprieve to hundreds of displaced Puerto Ricans facing eviction from their government-financed hotel rooms in Central Florida on Friday, but elected officials and community leaders blasted the agency for causing confusion and panic by the way it has handled the matter.

"It doesn't make sense," U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., said following a meeting with affected families and local leaders in Kissimmee. "I think FEMA is under an illusion that all of the homes are suddenly habitable again back on the island, which they're not. And even if they are, there are no jobs... I am criticizing FEMA for this start-stop, herky-jerky approach" to helping the evacuees. [more]

Here's how the Bay Area guys who started 4/20 spent their first legal one

Decades ago they were sneaking around San Rafael High School and using code words to avoid getting caught smoking cannabis. But they aren't hiding anymore.

The originators of the now-global marijuana term "4/20" launched a pot product for charity Friday — hosting a vape session at 4:20 p.m. and marking a new milestone in cannabis history.

An estimated ten million Americans could be enjoying the unofficial weed holiday, April 20, which grew out of enthusiast's daily observance of 4:20 p.m. Why exactly 4:20 p.m.?

The coded meet-up time for The Waldos went accidentally viral pre-internet, via The Grateful Dead. [more]

The government claims it can end the epidemic at the same time it is encouraging it by criminalizing a natural plant has been shown to combat opioid addiction. A study published in August 2017 found that when participants used cannabidiol (CBD), it actually blocked the opioid reward in their brains, and as a result, "The finding that cannabidiol blocks opioid reward suggests that this compound may be useful in addiction treatment settings."

Additionally, the National Institute on Drug Abuse has stated that "Medical marijuana products may have a role in reducing the use of opioids needed to control pain." Studies have also shown that deaths from opioids plummet in states where cannabis is legal and that 80 percent of cannabis users give up prescription pills. [more]

Natalie Portman Denounced by Israeli Government Over Decision Not to Attend Awards

"After decades of egregious human rights violations against Palestinians, Israel's recent massacre of peaceful protesters in Gaza has made its brand so toxic that even well-known Israeli-American cultural figures, like Natalie Portman, now refuse to blatantly whitewash, or art-wash, Israeli crimes and apartheid policies," it said in a statement.

Droughts mean fewer flowers for bees – “With climate change, such droughts are expected to become much more common”

Bees could be at risk from climate change because more frequent droughts could cause plants to produce fewer flowers, new research shows.

Droughts are expected to become more common and more intense in many parts of the world, and researchers studied the impact on flowering plants using a field experiment.

They found that drought roughly halved the overall number of flowers. This means less food for bees and other pollinators, which visit flowers for the nectar and pollen that they provide.

The Revolutionary Giant Ocean Cleanup Machine Is About To Set Sail

Boyan Slat dropped out of school to work on his design for a device that could collect the trillions of pieces of plastic floating in the ocean. After years of work, it’s ready to take its first voyage.

Slat, like others working on the problem of plastic waste, recognizes that collecting existing waste is only part of the challenge. The other, of course, is stopping the initial flow of trash into the ocean, whether it’s been dumped into the Yangtze River or fallen through a storm drain in Los Angeles. “Cleanups play an essential role in dealing with the symptoms of ocean plastics pollution, but they do not address the causes,” says Sander Defruyt, New Plastics Economy lead for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an organization that works on helping create closed-loop systems for plastic. “They cannot keep pace with the rising tide of plastic pollution. To tackle the plastic pollution crisis, there is an urgent need to rethink the way we make, use, and reuse plastics. [more]
