The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

The fire sprinklers, along with a fire wall that split the building, saved the business next door. It was able to resume partial operations with just smoke damage. But it was the smoke that may very well have been deadly. 'Fiberglass and the upholsteries and the things that they use in them, the smoke was dark and was down low to the ground,' McMahon said."

ReplyDeleteSix acres of wooden pallets on fire. Wow! That had to be beyond hot. Like melt the ground hot. Back in Feb I helped Hambone burn a pretty large brush pile. All wood with even a few pallets on it. It was incredibly hot. 30 feet away was very uncomfortable. Couldn't stand there long. Multiply that by six acres....I bet the people in the space station felt it.
When I was in Grenada, we used to throw a big beach party every Tuesday night, because our supply plane would come in on Wednesdays and that plane would also take people back to the States for R&R or the end of their duty or whatever, so we'd send them off with a big party. Plus, it was an excuse to have a big party at the beach every week. Heh. Anyway, our supplies always arrived with lots of pallets, so we started racking up large numbers of pallets, and so we started burning them at the beach parties. We got pretty outrageous, or it seemed outrageous at the time - dozens of pallets per bonfire. But that's nothing compared to some of these pallet fires nowadays where thousands or even tens of thousands of pallets burn - you're right, it must just be crazy to be near one of those fires!

We’re losing soil at an alarming rate, but there are some gaping holes in our knowledge about why and where from, reports Eloise Gibson
You can't grow a lot of food without soil, certainly not in a dairy-, wine- and vege-hungry nation like New Zealand.
Yet dirt – the foundation of our food supply – is being washed down our rivers and into the ocean at a worrying rate.
The latest report from the Ministry for the Environment and Statistics NZ, Our Land 2018, says New Zealand is losing about 192 million tonnes of soil a year. [more]

An unusual visitor from the US is getting bird watchers in a flap — because it is only the fourth time it has been seen in the UK.
The arrival of a belted kingfisher on St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly is a bit of a mystery, said ornithologist Will Wagstaff.
'We've had the wrong wind for it. We expect American birds with westerlies but we've had southerlies and southeasterlies,' he said.
The mild autumn may have seen the bird 'hang around in Europe' before heading north. Another US bird — a laughing gull — was recently seen on the nearby island of St Martin's. 'That's not as rare by any stretch but still a good rarity,' he said. [pic]
