Event Update For 2017-10-13

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Let's see if I can get this one to post.

A very happy and tired Tom after a full day of great bands at Sproutoberfest yesterday. So much talent, superb musicianship, great sound-man at the board (until 3 a.m. from 2 in the afternoon), good food, enjoyable (and cheap) high-quality mixed drinks (I don't drink beer much, but they had a wide selection that most people drank), free and easy atmosphere, awesome dj's shaking the building with deep bass beats and drawing people from blocks away, since they were outside during the wonderfully mild, party cloudy day. I ran outta steam around 10:30 and we went home(before at least 4 more super bands were to perform, unfortunately).

Alright, that said, let's see if I can post some of the doom and gloom pervading our civilization.

New insights from NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 satellite showcased in Science magazine

High-resolution satellite data from NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 are revealing the subtle ways that carbon links everything on Earth - the ocean, land, atmosphere, terrestrial ecosystems and human activities. Scientists using the first 2 1/2 years of OCO-2 data have published a special collection of five papers today in the journal Science that demonstrates the breadth of this research. In addition to showing how drought and heat in tropical forests affected global carbon dioxide levels during the 2015-16 El Niño, other results from these papers focus on ocean carbon release and absorption, urban emissions and a new way to study photosynthesis. A final paper by OCO-2 Deputy Project Scientist Annmarie Eldering of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and colleagues gives an overview of the state of OCO-2 science. [more]

Can nuclear tests trigger deadly eruption of Mount Baekdu (Paektu) supervolcano in North Korea?

China has a veritable army of very well funded and well equipped geologists, seismologists and geophysicists. What they found was that two M5 earthquakes happened at the same place as the latest nuclear test within 8 minutes after the detonation.

This is due to the fact that a nuclear underground detonation causes a cavity to form below ground. Since the North Koreans have been using the same site for all of their nuclear tests there are now 5 cavities of ever increasing size and thus THE ENTIRE SITE IS GEOLOGICALLY UNSTABLE. [more]
