Event Update For 2017-08-04

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

The U.N. Security Council is expected to vote Saturday on a new sanctions resolution that would increase economic pressure on North Korea to return to negotiations on its missile program.

Today, North Korea suddenly broadcast the longest Coded radio message in years, to its Sleeper Cells worldwide.   The eleven minute message in Korean language, used number codes, broadcast on 6500 KHz worldwide shortwave, and could be heard throughout the world. [more]

  2. On being a leper - Kevin Hester

The ‘Leprosy’ associated with Near Term Human Extinction. #NTHE

I heard what Professor McPherson had to say via his blog, his Facebook presence and radio show  Nature Bats Last on PRN.FM but my initial response was “It can’t be that bad”. I then proceeded to do as much research as I could to prove McPherson wrong. Sadly I have failed, for what will soon become clear to all, in that we have irretrievably lost the energy balance of this planet, we have kicked it out of the Goldilocks zone of habit-ability and we are now descending into the abyss. I believe the collapse of Industrial civilisation and as a result of the attendant temperature spike from the loss of Global Dimming ,habit-ability on this planet could be lost in months or just a few years if we have one cataclysmic environmental disaster like the 50 gigatonne methane discharge hypothesised by Dr Natalia Shakova et al from the University of Fairbanks Alaska.

Very soon after coming to the conclusion that Professor McPherson was right and that we face Near Term Human Extinction and I began discussing the predicament we face with my family and friends, I developed what I am now referring to as Social Leprosy. [more]

Heat and winds in the Arctic

    Arctic sea ice – 08/05/2017

It is hard to escape the conclusion that Arctic sea ice is breaking up and melting.

But despite the body of evidence it’s not happening because Al Gore, the IPCC, Michael Mann and others are saying its not happening.

That’s what the models are saying – not for 30-40 years.

So avoid the direct evidence and what you see with your own eyes.

    Directly assaulting Guy McPherson

A direct attack (and misrepresentation) on Guy McPherson

This piece starts from the same false premise that Guy is telling people to just 'give up' and blow all your money on a world trip.

That is not at all what he is saying.

It amazes me that these people treat the whole thing as if it were just a 'matter of opinion' (and all opinions are equal).

None of them refer to the actual scientific evidence unlike Guy McPherson until he gave up doing updates on his giant climate change essay, mostly because most of the evidence is in.

I have been part of all this for almost 30 years and until recently could have agreed with the bulk of what is being said but for the fact that the actual evidence (as opposed to nicely-worded opinions) indicates that 70+ positive feedbacks have set in, we have 400 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere and rising - more if you include other greenhouse gasses while ostensibly emissions from madmade CO2 have flatlined. Electric cars are not the answer to air pollution, says top UK adviser

Cars must be driven out of cities to tackle the UK’s air pollution crisis, not just replaced with electric vehicles, according to the UK government’s top adviser.
Prof Frank Kelly said that while electric vehicles emit no exhaust fumes, they still produce large amounts of tiny pollution particles from brake and tyre dust, for which the government already accepts there is no safe limit.

Climate change to cause humid heatwaves that will kill even healthy people

Global warming causing suicides in India as crops fail – “The tragedy is unfolding today. This is not a problem for future generations. This is our problem, right now.”

Climate change has already caused more than 59,000 suicides in India over the last 30 years, according to estimates in a study published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that suggests failing harvests that push farmers into poverty are likely the key culprits.

UC Berkeley researcher Tamma Carleton discovered that warming a single day by 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) during India’s agricultural growing season leads to roughly 65 suicides across the country, whenever that day’s temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). Warming a day by 5 degrees Celsius has five times that effect. [more]
