Event Update For 2015-11-29

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "By studying rocks at different elevations beside the East Antarctic sheet, the research team concluded that a period of rapid glacier thinning occurred in the recent geological past, and persisted for several centuries. Of particular concern was the potential for 'marine ice sheet instability', where an initial retreat of ice margins into deepening valleys could lead to continued, unstable ice loss."

Quote: "If all of it melted, the EAIS would contribute an equivalent of around 50 metres of sea level rise - the vast majority of the total 58 metres that could come from the continent."

  1. Things are gettin' ever weirder (on a LOT of fronts).
At the top you have yet another mysterious explosion in MY STATE that I didn't hear anything about. Then a freakin' barbecue grill exploding (now, sure it COULD have been a propane leak, but, if you think about it for a second, the gas would have already leaked out if the canister had a leak). Following that we find a woman on fire at a mental health facility (bad enough) - but in the notes it says that previously a fire IN THE LADY'S ROOM (what the %#@^ is there to BURN in a LAV?) caused evacuation of a ward! DANG!

Geez, it's about time that the authorities in Britain figured out that vehicles bursting into flame is becoming a daily occurrence!

I HATE it when barns with livestock in them burn and the creatures are all killed. That's one horrible way to die.

That boarding school fire in Nigeria isn't good either.

You're on top of the situation, Jonny - thanks again for keeping us informed.

Bernie Krause is an audio ecologist. This year he noticed a precipitous drop in the sounds of one his favorite field recording sites, a change he attributes in large part to California's drought.

'A great silence is spreading over the natural world'

Bernie Krause has spent 40 years recording nature's sounds. But such is the rate of species and habitat loss that his tapes may become our only record of the original diversity of life

Pope Francis: The world is near ‘suicide’ on climate change; ‘it’s now or never’

"I am not sure, but I can say to you 'now or never'," he told a group of reporters aboard the papal plane, en route home from Africa, according to Reuters. "Every year the problems are getting worse. We are at the limits. If I may use a strong word I would say that we are at the limits of suicide."

Researchers find new phase of carbon, make diamond at room temperature

Researchers from North Carolina State University have discovered a new phase of solid carbon, called Q-carbon, which is distinct from the known phases of graphite and diamond. China 'clone factory' scientist eyes human replication

Beijing (AFP) - The Chinese scientist behind the world's biggest cloning factory has technology advanced enough to replicate humans, he told AFP, and is only holding off for fear of the public reaction.

Boyalife Group and its partners are building the giant plant in the northern Chinese port of Tianjin, where it is due to go into production within the next seven months and aims for an output of one million cloned cows a year by 2020.

But cattle are only the beginning of chief executive Xu Xiaochun's ambitions.

In the factory pipeline are also thoroughbred racehorses, as well as pet and police dogs, specialised in searching and sniffing.

Boyalife is already working with its South Korean partner Sooam and the Chinese Academy of Sciences to improve primate cloning capacity to create better test animals for disease research.

And it is a short biological step from monkeys to humans -- potentially raising a host of moral and ethical controversies. [more]

“It was like fireworks.” That’s how Jessica Horne of Lafitte, La., describes the first time her 12-year-old son Hayden plugged in his new $300 hoverboard, powered by lithium batteries, to charge. Purchased from “Fit Turbo” on Amazon and given to Hayden as a birthday gift a day earlier on Nov. 20, the device suddenly burst into flame, Horne says.

“I could see sparks just flying. And before I could yell ‘the house is on fire,’ the middle part of the board … [went] 'poof’ into flames,” she tells CBS12. “It was hard to put it out,” Hayden adds. “It was pretty big."

  5. Yep, waking up and having a cup of coffee right now! Doing okay here. In fact, saw this large glowing thing in the sky today. My elders from the long ago time tell me it's called 'the Sun', but it hadn't been seen in these here parts for a long time. Well, okay, it'd been a week, but still! Someone apparently set the weather to 'dreary' and walked away for a week.
