Event Update For 2015-09-08

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2015-09-08 - Man in his 40s found slumped over dead on fence in Jersey City (New Jersey):

Quote: "It is unclear how or when the man died, but police observed signs of rigor mortis, a police report said."

Note: Maybe that's not rigor mortis there. Like the guy found 'dead' STANDING UP in a stream. No way was he dead, else his knees would have buckled as soon as he lost consciousness or died. And there was just a news story about a girl, 16, who collapsed foaming at the mouth outside her home in the middle of the night and 'died' then 'came back to life' inside a tomb but died (for real) before anyone could break into the tomb, mentioned in the 2015-08-25 update.

Hydrogen sulfide can put mammals into a kind of 'suspended animation', where they LOOK dead: stiff, room-temp body temperature, virtually undetectable heartbeat. So if this guy isn't actually dead then he may wake up in a day or two inside a coffin or while he's being cut open by a medical examiner or whatever. That can happen to anyone nowadays. On the other hand, the 'suspended animation' thing does seem to be pretty rare, and mostly hydrogen sulfide just flat-out kills you...

  1. Fantastic array of bizarre, now normal, occurrences here Jonny!

When transformers start blowing up in multiples, it isn't too hard to imagine the power companies being overwhelmed and unable to resupply or repair the electrical infrastructure in a timely fashion.

The jet ski, scooter and ROOF bursting into flame is unusual and scary.

Sewer lines collapsing (probably from age and being eaten from within by H2S) is gonna be costly (not to mention dangerous) to repair.

  2. Off to a good start today.

    Lotta shakin' goin' on:

Magnitude 3.7 earthquake in western Quebec

5.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad, parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes off Mexican coast

Wildfire season in the US has worsened dramatically in recent years, and 2015 is set to be the worst yet

As of Tuesday, according to the National Interagency Fire Center, more than 8 million acres have burned in U.S. wildfires in 2015. 8,202,557 of them, to be precise. That's an area larger than the state of Maryland.

And the numbers are still growing: 65 large fires are currently raging across the country, particularly in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. That includes three Washington state fires or fire complexes that are larger than 100,000 acres burned.

As of this writing, the United States remains at wildfire preparedness level 5 — the highest level — where it has been since Aug. 13.

    [from the psychology dept]

Depersonalisation disorder: the condition you've never heard of that affects millions

People with depersonalisation disorder describe a sense of complete detachment, a life lived as an automaton or on autopilot, characterised by an absence of emotions, either good or bad. (You might think of Channel 4's recent hit Humans, which featured an intelligence trapped, powerless, in the body of a robot.) They feel as though they are observing their life through a plate of glass or a dense fog, or as if it is appearing in a film. Their bodies and their beings have separated; their limbs are no longer their own.

    [further down]

the general understanding is that the brain has triggered a natural defence mechanism against extreme anxiety; having reached an arbitrarily defined limit, it has entered a complete emotional shutdown, taking with it sensations of pleasure as well as pain; love as well as hate.

  3. Storm pounds Japan, levee breaks, river floods city:

Quote: "Early Thursday afternoon, the Kinugawa River breached a levee in the city of Joso, Ibaraki Prefecture. Prefectural government officials there said 12 people are missing due to the flooding and more than 350 others were still awaiting rescue Friday morning, according to public broadcaster NHK."

Another daily quote (eventually) comes true. From June:

2015-06-17: "Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good / Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good / When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move." -- Led Zeppelin ('When The Levee Breaks')

Heh, scared to look too closely at the other daily quotes now, cuz I know one of them involves an 'end of the world' switch!

  4. Don't touch that switch!
