2014 - JUN - Spotlight Stories

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-06-01 - Pallet yard erupts in flame at 1:30 AM, fire spreads to building, in Doncaster (Britain):

Quote: "About 70 firefighters are tackling a fire in Doncaster which has spread from a pallet yard to a nearby building. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service was first called to the pallet yard on Cow House Lane in Armthorpe at about 01:30 BST. It is then thought the fire spread to the nearby West Moor Park Network Centre on Yorkshire Way, where a single building is on fire."

2014-06-01 - Pallets and garden rubbish go up in flames in Glastonbury (Britain):

Quote: "A team from Glastonbury found a heap of pallets and garden rubbish well alight, putting out the fire using an air foam jet."

2014-06-01 - Lumber yard ravaged by huge blaze in Bay City (Michigan):

Quote: "Kawkawlin Township Fire Department firefighters stand near the skeletal remains of a building at the King Lumber Company off of Fraser Road in Bay City late on Saturday. The fire, which consumed a large section of the lumber yard, started on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning as firefighters from multiple fire departments battled the fire."

2014-06-01 - Food business devastated by inferno and explosions, multiple buildings destroyed, in Olivehurst (California):

Quote: "Food Factory Destroyed In massive 200,000 square foot Olivehurst Walnut Plant Inferno Late Saturday Night"

Quote: "Residents said they heard a number of explosions overnight."

Note: Walnuts e.g. wood, so not much different from the lumber yard or the pallet yard fires, just wood in a different shape. A door business was destroyed by fire the day prior in New Ulm (Minnesota), mentioned in the 2014-05-31 update, though that fire did also involve several parked collector cars burning along with the wood business. From the full hypothesis: "Wood-related fires will escalate, including fires at pallet companies, wood-carving businesses, furniture businesses, door companies, cabinet companies, etc."

2014-06-02 - Subway fire erupts, smoke fills subway train, in coastal Manhattan (New York):

Quote: "A Queens-bound train on the subway's No. 7 line filled with smoke Monday night near Grand Central Terminal, forcing the train to be evacuated and disrupting service for several hours, MTA officials say."

Quote: "Though ABC News says some passengers passed out due to the smoke, no injuries were reported."

Note: A 45-year-old man collapsed and died on a subway train in the Bronx not long ago, mentioned in the 2014-05-04 update. And remember last year, when officials pumped an innocuous heavier-than-air gas into the subways in New York City? (Officials did the same in London too.) That was to see where heavier-than-air hydrogen sulfide would go once in the subway systems and try to head off problems like this. Not to disparage the effort though - who knows how bad things would be right now if they hadn't taken any steps at all. The NYC subway gas test was mentioned in the 2013-04-26 update and the London subway gas test was mentioned in the 2013-06-14 update...

2014-06-02 - Train engine bursts into flame shortly before 3 AM in coastal New Haven (Connecticut):

Quote: "A Norfolk Southern train engine caught fire on the tracks in New Haven early Monday morning. Shortly before 3:30 a.m., firefighters were called the railroad tracks near Green Street."

Note: Trains still seem like the safest mode of transportation. But given the problems with planes, boats and standard ground vehicles I guess that really isn't saying a whole lot...

2014-06-03 - Pakistani jet crashes into buses and explodes at bus terminal in coastal Karachi (Pakistan), 4 killed, 9 injured:

Quote: "Quoting the local police, AFP said two people on the ground were also killed and nine injured. Sajid Sadozai, a senior police official, said two buses parked at the terminal were destroyed while another was damaged. Another security official said the crashed plane was a Mirage fighter jet. Pakistan has a large fleet of refurbished Mirages. Eyewitnesses were quoted as saying that four buses caught fire when the plane’s wreckage fell on them. The hospital sources were quoted as saying that at least two among the injured were in critical condition."

2014-06-03 - Small plane crashes into parking lot at McDonald's in Monroe in Ouachita Parish (Louisiana), 1 injured:

Note: Break out the heavy-duty airplane-proof umbrellas!

2014-06-04 - Two brothers burned to death when car ignites, uncle injured, in Delhi (India):

Quote: "Two teenaged brothers were charred to death on Wednesday, while their uncle suffered burn injuries when the car they were travelling in caught fire in South West Delhi's Kapashera area, police said."

Quote: "The rear doors of the car reportedly got jammed and the boys were not able to escape."

Quote: "In another incident in the national capital, around 70 shanties were gutted in the Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi district this evening."

Quote: "A paediatric surgeon today moved a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into what he says are growing instances of cars catching fire spontaneously, often killing the occupants."

Quote: "His petition says that in several such car fires, the occupants were burnt alive as the doors and windows jammed, cutting off escape."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide fires will often involve electrified copper which can take out the electrical system in a vehicle. If you have power locks/windows then you can end up trapped inside a burning vehicle, and that can prove to be very fatal very fast. From the full hypothesis: "Vehicles of all kinds will continue to burn, as they have been, and the number of vehicular fires will continue to escalate, inevitably resulting in a corresponding increase in the number of people being incinerated in their vehicles."

2014-06-04 - Car bursts into flame on street in Beloit (Wisconsin):

Quote: "According to the report, the Fregeau couple were not able to unlock the doors or escape the car through the windows. Golden and a second bystander - Kerry Mann - sprang into action and were able to break two of the windows in order to get the couple out of the car."

Note: I've mentioned this problem before. Hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper. So sometimes these fires affect the electrical system in vehicles, like the boat with no one aboard that burst into flame and started itself then took off across Coffs Harbour on fire, smashing into other boats, mentioned in the 2013-05-03 update. But besides vehicles sometimes starting themselves, another problem with these fires is that electric locks and windows may stop working and then you're in a burning car with the oxygen supply rapidly disappearing and no way to open doors or roll windows down. So, it's probably wise to keep something handy in your vehicle with which to break out windows in an emergency, at least if you have electric locks/windows...

2014-06-04 - Car bursts into flame, brakes stop working, woman leaps from moving car at mall in Victor (New York):

Quote: "'She was driving the car and realized that there was something coming from under the hood, smoke of some kind,' said Stromfield. 'When she went to stop the car, she didn't have any brakes. The pedal went all the way to the floor. So she chose to get out of the car.' Sarah Coon, 20, of Shortsville, bailed while the car was still moving. Authorities found her sitting on the pavement 40 yards away from the fire. The forward progress of her car was stopped as it crashed into three parked and empty vehicles. A second car also caught fire."

Note: I'm feeling more sedentary every day!

2014-06-05 - British aircraft carrier 'HMS Queen Elizabeth' bursts into flame at 6:37 AM at shipyard in coastal Fife (Scotland):

Quote: "The fire comes ahead of a royal visit to the docks by The Queen who will officially name the carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth on 4 July. MOD officials confirmed that the naming will be a traditional champagne ceremony. Later in July, the dock at Rosyth will be flooded to allow HMS Queen Elizabeth to float for the first time. Sea trials will then begin in 2017 with flight trials of Lightning II aircraft starting the following year."

Note: Not the first British aircraft carrier to catch fire in recent times. Another British aircraft carrier caught fire in February while docked in coastal Portsmouth (Britain), mentioned in the 2014-02-26 update. Ironically, the carrier caught fire while Prince Charles was there, since it's going to be named after him. Awkwaaard!

2014-06-05 - Cruise ship under construction, 'Anthem of the Seas', bursts into flame at shipyard in Papenburg (Germany):

Note: Can't even get them off the assembly line before they start burning nowadays. Reminds me of an incident where a brand new semi tractor burst into flame right off the assembly line while undergoing road testing at a plant in Lower Macungie Township (Pennsylvania), which destroyed the semi before it ever even touched a road, mentioned in the 2014-04-15 update...

2014-06-05 - Coast Guard auxiliary boat bursts into flame on the Willamette River in Portland (Oregon):

2014-06-05 - Pilot boat bursts into flame at 4:50 AM in the River Tay near coastal Carnoustie (Scotland):

Quote: "Two men were rescued from a pilot boat after it caught fire while guiding a tanker up the Tay."

2014-06-05 - Boat bursts into flame in coastal Ramsgate Harbour (Britain):

Note: It's becoming quite a boatastrophe out there!

2014-06-06 - Recycling plant hit by fire in Nashville (Tennessee):

2014-06-06 - Recycling center erupts in flame in Burlington (Canada), near Lake Ontario:

Note: A garbage truck burst into flame on a road in Burlington the day prior too, mentioned in the 2014-06-05 update...

2014-06-06 - Recycling center damaged by fire in Greater Sudbury (Canada), near the coast, facility closed until further notice:

2014-06-06 - Landfill 'dumpcano' continues to burn, putrid odor hits Iqaluit (Canada), two schools closed:

Quote: "An unquenchable fire that has been smouldering for weeks deep within the bowels of Iqaluit’s garbage dump has now forced the closure of schools and prompted a health warning as thick, white smoke billows over the Nunavut capital. Referred to locally as the 'dumpcano' — the fire has been burning since May 20 and there’s no end in sight, said Iqaluit fire chief Luc Grandmaison."

Quote: "The Department of Health has once again issued an advisory asking people with heart and lung disease, the elderly and the very young to stay indoors as much as possible, with the windows closed and air exchangers turned off."

Quote: "It’s the fourth fire at the Iqaluit dump since December."

Note: They gave up in May on putting this fire out. That putrid odor may very well contain some hydrogen sulfide. It probably does and if so then the folks there may suffer long-term effects like kidney damage, brain damage, heart damage, eye problems, compromised immune systems, all kinds of stuff. The British didn't weaponize hydrogen sulfide and use it to kill German soldiers in trench warfare in WWI because the effects are NICE. From the full hypothesis: "Trash-related facilities such as recycling centers and landfills will burn hard too, as hydrogen sulfide is absorbed into flammable absorbent materials like wood, paper, cardboard, straw, hay, dried brush, generic trash, clothing, cotton, wool."

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-06-07 - Fishing boat bursts into flame at the mouth of the Housatonic River near coastal Stratford (Connecticut), 4 injured:

Quote: "Four people were sent to the hospital Saturday afternoon after the fishing boat they were on caught fire near the mouth of the Housatonic River, the U.S. Coast Guard says."

2014-06-07 - Boat bursts into flame in the Gulf of Mexico near coastal Dauphin Island (Alabama), 3 injured:

2014-06-07 - Boat bursts into flame as men gas it up, at River Landing in coastal Jensen Beach (Florida), 2 injured:

2014-06-07 - Boat bursts into flame at 2:20 AM on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Nelson (Britain), nobody aboard:

Note: And here's another pile of boats going up in flames...

2014-06-08 - Toxic gas hits coastal Rayong (Thailand), thousands sickened and evacuated:

Quote: "Thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes in Rayong's Ban Chang district shortly past midnight and spend the night on a football pitch after smelling something like toxic gas. Children and the elderly suffered eye irritation and retching from what they suspected was a gas leak."

Note: Yeah, hydrogen sulfide and methane gas are leaking from the oceans, seas and lakes, so I guess you could call that a 'gas leak'.

Quote: "An investigation of the four industrial parks in the area found no source of the smell. A factory outside an industrial estate that was suspected of spreading the foul odour was found closed about a week ago for maintenance."

Note: So they couldn't find the source. The factory that they wanted to blame has been closed for a week. Considering the symptoms, especially the eye irritation and vomiting, this sounds VERY MUCH like hydrogen sulfide blowing in off the ocean right onto this coastal area. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Coastal Kuwait City was told to shelter in place because of hydrogen sulfide, blamed on a leak from a gas well, mentioned in the 2012-10-17 update. That was the first time in human history that any major metropolitan area had ever been told to shelter in place because of hydrogen sulfide. On the island of Jamaica in 2013, dozens of people sickened and collapsed unconscious on the streets as 'noxious fumes' hit them, mentioned in the 2013-02-28 update. And of course there was the stinkfest in Southern California in late 2012 that was caused by hydrogen sulfide, blamed on emissions from the Salton Sea.

This event is a harbinger of what's to come...

2014-06-09 - Pallet and mulch business destroyed by fire and explosions in Frankfort (Indiana):

Quote: "Several tanker trucks and aerial trucks were needed to fight the fire at the pallet and mulch facility on the northwest side of town."

2014-06-09 - Wood business heavily damaged by huge fire in Hazlehurst (Georgia):

Quote: "Firefighters are currently battling a large fire at Thompson Hardwood on Baxley Highway in Hazlehurst. Jeff Davis County Sheriff Preston Bohannon says the fire started on Monday morning. At this time it is unclear how it began, but Sheriff Bohannon says they do not suspect foul play. Sheriff Bohannon says about 12 counties and agencies are battling the fire and he expects that they will be on scene until at least midnight."

2014-06-09 - Woodworking business damaged by blaze in Hamilton (Ohio):

Note: From the full hypothesis: "Wood-related fires will escalate, including fires at pallet companies, wood-carving businesses, furniture businesses, door companies, cabinet companies, etc."

Category: Multiple Corpses

2014-06-10 - Five people suddenly die, three others knocked unconscious, at home in coastal Ondo State (Nigeria):

Quote: "Five members of a family of eight mysteriously died today at ijaro quarters in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state. The tragedy involved a mother-in-law, three children and a brother-in-law who were found dead in the same building. The husband, Kehinde Ajayi, his wife, Banke and their son, Samuel Ajayi were also found unconscious and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention."

Note: Two men were found dead in their running vehicle, foaming from the mouth, in Asaba (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2014-12-12 update. A man and woman were found dead in a room in Ogun (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2013-10-17 update. A couple and their daughter were found dead in their home in Owerri (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2013-03-14 update. DOZENS of corpses were found floating in the Ezu River in Nigeria, no sign of injury, mentioned in the 2013-01-19 update. Many terrible fires have plagued Nigeria too, especially in and around the coast near Lagos. Hydrogen sulfide is not just deadly, it is highly flammable. And those are just SOME of the incidents in Nigeria ALONE. Many other events have occurred involving multiple people mysteriously dying, sometimes foaming at the mouth or bleeding out from nose, mouth and ears, all over the world, more near coasts - since the hydrogen sulfide is primarily coming from the oceans, seas and lakes - but elsewhere as well. No country is immune. This is a planetary extinction event, not a geographically localized problem...

2014-06-11 - Six parked vehicles go up in flames at 3:08 AM at auto auction yard in Bel Air (Maryland), 2 more cars burn separately:

Quote: "Six vehicles set to be auctioned off at Bel Air Auto Auction were damaged by fire early Wednesday morning, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said. The fire, reported at 3:08 a.m., started in a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in a pre-auction lot and extended to five adjacent vehicles, according to a Fire Marshal's Office notice of investigation."

Quote: "The first fire was reported around midday Tuesday at the intersection of Route 24 and Boulton Street. Six more were reported around 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Bel Air Auto Auction. An eighth auto fire happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Historic Drive in Forest Hill."

Note: Whew, so two cars went up in flames in separate incidents (sounds like they were being driven when they ignited) and then six parked cars went up in flames in the wee hours at an auto business too...

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-06-12 - Three buses destroyed by fire at salvage yard in Great Bridge (Britain):

Quote: "Three coaches were completely destroyed after a fire broke out in a salvage yard in Great Bridge this afternoon. Fire crews from Dudley, Tipton and Brierley Hill spent more than two hours tackling the blaze in Bagnall Street, which started at around 4pm. The flames also damaged a fence and summer house belonging to a house adjacent to the yard."

Note: This place is just east (downwind) of both the Walsall Canal and the River Tame...

2014-06-12 - Double-decker university bus bursts into flame near the University of Warwick in Coventry (Britain):

Note: University bus, so I guess this qualifies as a school bus, which makes this the 6th school bus to burst into flame in June, so far...

2014-06-12 - Two more buses burst into flame in Britain, one at supermarket in Sparkbrook, and one on the M11 in Essex:

Quote: "In a bizarre coincidence, three buses in separate parts of the country were engulfed in flames today."

Note: Hah, coincidence, right. So, counting the three buses that were destroyed by fire at the salvage yard in Great Bridge, that's six buses that went up in flames in one day in Britain. Fast forward a bit and we might just see stories like this: 'In a bizarre coincidence, London, Leeds and Birmingham have been destroyed today by suspected gas explosions.' Also see the car that burst into flame outside a train station in London...

2014-06-13 - Passenger plane engine bursts into flame at LaGuardia Airport in coastal New York City (New York), 1 injured:

Quote: "A Delta Air Lines worker was injured while responding to an engine fire on a plane that landed at New York's LaGuardia Airport, authorities said. Airport firefighters extinguished the blaze in the left engine of Delta Flight 2166 from Orlando, Florida, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The fire broke out at 10:25 p.m. Friday after the plane arrived in New York. No passengers were injured, but a ramp worker was taken to a hospital, FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said."

2014-06-14 - Brush fire erupts in the Rattlesnake Creek area, burns 810 acres, near Wofford Heights (California):

Quote: "The Shirley Fire has grown to 810 acres and is still at 5% containment. The fire is currently the most active in the Rattlesnake Creek area, about 1 mile southwest of Wofford Heights."

2014-06-14 - Wildfire burns 800 acres in canyon near Happy Jack (Arizona):

Quote: "Firefighters are working to contain a wildfire burning in northern Arizona. The Jack Fire was reported around 11:40 a.m. Saturday and has grown to about 800 acres by nightfall. Spokeswoman Heather Noel said no structures are threatened. The fire is burning about 13 miles northeast of Happy Jack in a canyon."

2014-06-14 - Brush fire burns median in coastal Marina del Rey (California), 1 injured:

2014-06-14 - Three separate brush fires ignite in and around the Coachella Valley (California):

Note: Creek, canyon, coast, valley, all low-lying areas which will tend to capture flammable heavier-than-air hydrogen sulfide as it blows through, which will then adsorb onto materials until eventually spontaneous combustion occurs, or something else sparks the fire (human, electrified copper, rusty iron)...

Category: Animal Die-Offs

2014-06-15 - Twenty ducks have seizures and die at Old Hickory Lake, other animals die too, in Mount Juliet (Tennessee):

Quote: "Gentry explained that two ducks flew in and started having seizure-like symptoms. They were shaking and couldn't control their movements. 'And within five minutes of that happening, they were gone,' he added. Each duck that died did so in a similar fashion, some even dropping from the air after taking off."

Quote: "Over the next 24 hours they found more than 20 dead ducks. Monday, they even found a dead raccoon and woodpecker in the same area."

Note: Just like all the people having seizures and 'medical events' and dying near bodies of water. Hydrogen sulfide is neurotoxic and damages brains (among other things), and can cause seizures, unconsciousness, memory loss, hallucinations, insanity, death. It's also a water-soluble gas and can poison you via contact with contaminated water. Birds are particularly vulnerable to toxins because of their low body weight and rapid respiration, thus the 'canary in a coal mine' thing. When I smelled something funny in the air and a flock of birds dropped dead out of the sky across the street from me early in 2011, a couple of days after the birds had dropped dead from the sky in Beebe (Arkansas), that was when I became 100% sure that another methane and hydrogen sulfide planetary extinction event was under way. All the fires, explosions, HazMat events, and people and animals sickening and/or dropping dead since then definitely haven't made me any less certain of that.

Your government isn't going to tell you this. It might, understandably, cause panic, crash the markets, yada yada. Oblivious people are easy to manage, but scared people, not so much. They'd prefer you either not know what's going on at all, or at least that you keep quiet about it until you're dead yourself. That means that it is up to YOU to face reality and do what you can to protect yourself and those you care about. Or die, if that's your preference. Your choice, your consequences...

2014-06-16 - Underground electrical fire hits coastal San Diego (California), homes go dark in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach:

2014-06-16 - Transformer bursts into flame in Nagpur (India):

Quote: "The burning of power transformer is one more in the series of such incidents being witnessed in the city. At Gondwana Square, due to sparks in transformer, a child lost life on Sunday night."

2014-06-16 - Manhole cover blown off in Augusta (Georgia):

Quote: "The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is detouring traffic in Downtown Augusta after a manhole cover blew off."

2014-06-16 - Power lines burst into flame in Scranton (Pennsylvania), 6000+ homes go dark:

Note: Got Flashlight? (tm)

Category: Corpses In Low-Lying Areas

2014-06-17 - Mother and two young children found dead in car parked at school in Hagerstown (Maryland):

Quote: "The officers opened the vehicle and discovered an adult female in the front seat and two very small children in the back seat. No signs of life were found on any of the three persons."

Quote: "The car was unlocked and the ignition was off."

2014-06-17 - Man dies in his pickup truck before 7 AM on Southern Street in East Spencer (North Carolina):

2014-06-17 - Man killed when van bursts into flame on the M60 near Stockport (Britain):

2014-06-17 - College student, woman, 20, found dead in submerged car in pond on the island of Antigua:

2014-06-17 - Man drives SUV into the Eau Claire River and dies in Schofield (Wisconsin):

Note: The atmospheric contamination problem can kill you in a number of ways when vehicles are involved. You can simply be struck dead with one breath of hydrogen sulfide at 1 part per thousand concentration while sitting in your vehicle, which is probably what happened to the mother and her two kids in Hagerstown and the man in East Spencer. The gas can ignite your vehicle, possibly while knocking you unconscious and/or disabling power locks and windows, and then you burn to death, which is probably what happened to the man who burned to death in the van there. You can lose consciousness while driving and slam head-on into traffic or hit a tree or pole or building and die that way. Someone ELSE can succumb while driving and hit you and kill you. Your brakes and/or tires may ignite and that can cause a fiery crash that can kill you. If you're driving in, near or downwind of a low-lying area like a body of water then you may lose consciousness, veer into the water and breathe water until dead, which is likely what happened to the woman in Antigua and the man in Schofield...

2014-06-18 - Naked man, 47, runs around, shouts, attacks cop, in Cambridge (Canada), man with hatchet mentioned too:

Quote: "In a separate incident, police in Kitchener arrested a man walking around a neighbourhood with a hatchet."

Note: A guy swinging an axe set a vehicle on fire on Highway 16 in New Hazelton (Canada) recently too, mentioned in the 2014-05-11 update. I think we need a new term for the crazy axe- and hatchet-wielding people - Lizzie Borden Syndrome! I guess I'd put meat cleavers in the Lizzie Borden Syndrome category too, since they're a hacking type instrument more like a little axe than a knife. The last meat cleaver incident was when a naked man, 71, armed with a meat cleaver threatened a driver in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma), mentioned in the 2014-05-06 update. The scariest meat cleaver incident so far was when a man dragged his wife down Canal Street while hacking at her with a meat cleaver, in coastal Manhattan (New York), mentioned in the 2013-02-24 update...

2014-06-18 - Naked man, 21, masturbates on Beaver Street in coastal Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), gets tased:

Quote: "Officers ordered him to place his hands behind his back, but he refused. Dyachkin then grabbed his penis and began to masturbate in front of several residents in the area, the report said. Officers were forced to use a taser in order to subdue Dyachkin."

Note: I'm shocked! Wait, no, HE was shocked...

2014-06-18 - Naked man, 31, locks himself in bathroom, stabs himself with knife, in coastal South Yarmouth (Massachusetts):

Note: Need a term for the knife/machete/sword-wielding crazy people too - Jason Voorhees Syndrome!

2014-06-18 - Naked man runs around in street, tries to get in cars, in Wilbraham (Massachusetts):

2014-06-19 - Underground fires hit two manholes at 6 AM, power lines ignite too, in coastal Queens (New York), 1100 homes go dark:

Quote: "More than 1,000 Con Edison customers in Queens were without power Thursday following fires in two manholes and on power lines. The fires broke out at around 6 a.m. at 95th Avenue near 96th Street in Woodhaven."

Quote: "There was black smoke spewing out of the manhole, the manhole cover was rattling and it just blew off. It ignited the telephone wires, there was fire."

2014-06-29 - Underground electrical explosion rocks Park La Brea area in coastal Los Angeles (California), 1000 homes go dark:

Quote: "An underground vault explosion in the Park La Brea area today left about 1,000 customers without power, including at the Grove and Farmer’s Market, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported."

2014-06-19 - Transformer explodes near Beacon Street and Mill Pond in coastal Marblehead (Massachusetts):

Quote: "At 11:47 a.m., police and fire units responded to a reported transformer explosion near the intersection of Beacon Street and Mill Pond."

2014-06-19 - Transformer explodes before 5:30 AM in coastal Southampton (New York):

Quote: "Mr. Gulija said he received a call around 5:30 a.m. Thursday with news of the transformer explosion."

Note: So here are two more underground electrical explosions and two more transformers exploding. Locations? Coast, coast, coast and coast. Must be all the salt from the salt trucks from all that recent snow. Wait, they're not using that excuse anymore?! Hah, watch and see, they will use it again this winter, hoping that people forget that these underground electrical explosions and fires have been occurring all along. And most people are actually oblivious enough that they'll believe it too...

2014-06-20 - Four-story apartment building under construction explodes and burns at 3:20 AM in Vancouver (Washington):

Quote: "Witnesses told KATU they heard an explosion and saw the sky turned orange."

Quote: "The fire was reported around 3:20 a.m. when a neighbor heard what sounded like a loud explosion."

Quote: "Fire destroyed an apartment building with about 90 units that was under construction in Vancouver. The fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. Friday and went to two-alarms as it brought the four-story structure to the ground."

Quote: "Vancouver Fire Marshall Heidi Scarpelli did not call the fire suspicious, but said it was 'unusual.' The complex had been scheduled to open in February, but is now considered a total loss, fire officials said."

Note: From the full hypothesis: "So far as homes are concerned, vacant homes, unoccupied homes and homes under construction will burn hardest and first but the number of occupied homes burning will also be increasing."

2014-06-21 - Small plane takes off, bursts into flame, pilot jumps out and falls 1000 feet, plane crashes, ignites brush fire, in Livermore (California), 1 killed:

Quote: "Witnesses saw the pilot jumping from the aircraft, which Nelson described as a 'kit plane,' without a parachute after the plane caught on fire after taking off from Livermore airport and heading north. The tower reported it saw the plane in trouble, then saw flames. The pilot fell about 1,000 feet and landed about 300 yards from the plane, he said. He was killed instantly on impact."

Note: And here's yet another plane catching fire. You can't just pull over if your plane catches fire like the people often do with all the ground vehicle fires, so if you're still brave enough to fly in a small plane then you might want to have a parachute strapped on, lest you have to face the choice this man faced: burn to death or fall 1000 feet. Tough choice there...

2014-06-22 - Landfill hit by fire near Duluth (Minnesota):

Quote: "A passing BNSF employee reported the fire in the Duluth-Superior Landfill at 2512 Central Ave. at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.  An area about 40 feet wide by 100 feet long was on fire."

2014-06-22 - Recycling plant hit by fire in Gatineau (Canada):

Note: This plant is just north of the Ottawa River. Also see the naked guy who led cops on a low-speed chase on a tractor near Quyon (Canada), also near the Ottawa River...

2014-06-22 - Recycling plant erupts in flame at 2:40 AM on Kenyon Street in Ramsbottom (Britain):

Quote: "Firefighters are tackling a huge fire at a recycling plant in Ramsbottom. Crews were called to Wheeldons, in Kenyon Street at 2.40am on Sunday, after hearing reports of smoke coming from the roof. Seven engines were sent to the factory, which manufactures fuel from waste products, most notably oil."

2014-06-22 - Recycling center hit by fire on Slippery Gowt Lane in Wyberton (Britain):

Note: From the full hypothesis: "Trash-related facilities such as recycling centers and landfills will burn hard too, as hydrogen sulfide is absorbed into flammable absorbent materials like wood, paper, cardboard, straw, hay, dried brush, generic trash, clothing, cotton, wool."

2014-06-23 - F-35A Joint Strike Fighter bursts into flame before takeoff at coastal Eglin Air Force Base (Florida):

Quote: "The U.S. Air Force on Monday temporarily halted flights at a Florida air base of 26 F-35A fighter jets built by Lockheed Martin Corp after a jet caught fire as it was preparing to take off for a training flight..."

Note: The last plane to burst into flame was waaaay back in...two days ago, when a small plane took off in Livermore (California) then burst into flame and the pilot had to jump out without a parachute and fall 1000 feet, or burn to death, mentioned in the 2014-06-21 update. He jumped, and died.

These F-35As cost more than $100 million EACH. I don't think this one was destroyed though. But at that price, I wondered, do these cost more than an equivalent weight in gold would cost? Welp, I did the math. They weigh more than 70,000 pounds fully loaded and that much gold would run you about a billion dollars, so an F-35A is about 1/7 to 1/10 the price of an equivalent weight in gold at today's price for gold. Or to look at it another way, if you wanted an F-35A, and you were allowed to own one, then you'd need to trade in more than FOUR TONS of gold to get your hands on one. They're planning on buying like 2500 of these things and unless they actually succeed in bringing the per unit price down below $100 million, which they haven't, then that fleet of F-35As may very well cost MORE than one would have if one sold every single ounce of the gold that is supposedly in Fort Knox, which is about 8,133 metric tons...

2014-06-24 - Metal recycling business erupts in flame in Wolcott (Connecticut):

Quote: "The scrap yard has several cement bins, and the metal in one of those bins had caught on fire."

2014-06-24 - Auto salvage yard erupts in flame, several cars burn, at 3:15 AM in coastal North Sydney (Canada):

Quote: "When the fire department arrived at about 3:15 a.m., five cars in one location in the yard were fully on fire. Futher up in the yard, a number of other cars were fully ablaze."

2014-06-24 - Metal scrap yard, auto shop and vehicles go up in flames at industrial estate in Erith (Britain):

Quote: "The Fire Brigade have confirmed that over half of a scrap yard and an adjacent car workshop is on fire and that a number of vehicles are alight, as well as scrap metal."

Note: Erith is located along the banks of the River Thames near the coast. From the full hypothesis: "Metal-related businesses will be hit hard, including salvage yards and metal recycling centers."

2014-06-25 - Man has 'medical emergency', van plunges into pond in Saline (Michigan), 1 injured:

Quote: "Saline Area Fire Department Chief Craig Hoeft said the man had a medical emergency and loss control of the work van. The van went off Willis Road into a retention pond, ending up in about four feet of water, Hoeft said."

2014-06-25 - Driver has 'medical episode, van crashes into construction site in Lincoln (Nebraska), 3 injured:

Quote: "Rescue crews pulled two people from a van pinned in a downtown Lincoln construction site Wednesday evening after authorities believe the driver suffered a medical episode and crashed through a fence."

2014-06-25 - Driver blacks out, tractor trailer overturns near Owensboro in Daviess County (Kentucky):

Quote: "Kentucky State Police say 35-year-old Billy Tindle, of Hawesville, had a panic attack and blacked out behind the wheel as he was heading east on the Bypass."

Note: As time goes on and the atmospheric contamination worsens, driving is obviously going to be quite a problem. People will be losing consciousness, having 'medical events' or dying while driving, brakes will fail as people drive, and vehicles will be bursting into flame and/or exploding as people drive too. These things are already happening all over but this problem will get much worse. That will cause ripple effects, like hay not getting to destinations to feed horses and cows, food not getting to grocery stores, gas not getting to gas stations, medicines not getting to drug stores, that sort of thing...

2014-06-26 - Underground gas line explodes and burns near East Bernard (Texas), in Wharton County, 1 injured:

Quote: "Andy Kirkland, Wharton County Emergency Management Coordinator, said a man who was driving by in a truck was hurt. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. John Szymanski, Wharton County Precinct 2 Constable, said, 'He was there when it exploded. I guess due to the explosion, the truck stalled out, he had to get out, run away from it and luckily, my understanding from EMS, he didn't have any burns. It was just some of injuries from the blast itself.'"

2014-06-26 - In 'separate' events, underground electrical fire erupts and power lines ignite in Ozone Park area of coastal New York City (New York):

Quote: "More than 1,000 lost electricity due to manhole fire as lines nearby burned..."

Quote: "At roughly the same time, about a quarter-mile north of the outage area, a separate incident occurred in which a fire broke out on power lines along 95th Avenue between 95th and 97th streets near the Ozone Park-Woodhaven border. Seven customers lost power there."

2014-06-26 - Underground electrical explosion and fire rocks coastal Larchmont (New York):

Quote: "Residents of Addee Circle say an underground transformer exploded and caught fire causing flames to shoot from the ground around 6:30 p.m. They say about eight homes had to be evacuated."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas so it will seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities. It's also corrosive to concrete and steel, so gas, water and sewer pipes will disintegrate faster, making gas leaks and sinkholes more common. It's also reactive with rusty iron/steel and electrified copper, so it will act as the igniter for gas leaks and it will just plain cause problems with electrical infrastructure of all kinds...

2014-06-27 - Underground electrical fire hits Chico (California), power outages ensue:

Quote: "At about 3:50 p.m., the Chico Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Broadway after people reported seeing smoke and sparks coming from storm drains, according to the Chico Fire Department. Firefighters also noticed smoke and asked the Chico Police Department to close part of the road, according to Chico fire. Several manhole lids on the streets had also popped up. As a precaution, Chico fire evacuated people in the area, while others were asked to shelter in place."

Quote: "It's the second time this week there's been an underground problem on the same street ... The last time is was in a different vault, and was blamed on a failed cable that caught fire."

2014-06-28 - Big condo development under construction destroyed by explosion and fire in Fort McMurray (Canada):

Quote: "Ryan Arendt was eating lunch at his house when he heard a big boom. 'It couldn’t be ignored,' Arendt said. He ran outside and saw flames engulfing the building behind him, which he said crews have been working on for about a year. 'She was on fire pretty good,' he said. Arendt said neighbouring homes were visibly damaged."

Note: People are still trying to build things?! Heh, just kidding...sort of! From the full hypothesis: "So far as homes are concerned, vacant homes, unoccupied homes and homes under construction will burn hardest and first but the number of occupied homes burning will also be increasing."

Quote: "Before the incident, Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police had been called to a residence on Main Street, where the naked man appeared to be attempting to enter a home. For 'unknown reasons' he left the property and began walking northbound on Main Street."

Note: Just more people going crazy and getting naked, which is now getting to be downright routine. R-rated 'Zombie Apocalypse' is in progress...

2014-06-30 - Road explodes and smokes in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam):

Quote: "A road in the center of Ho Chi Minh City erupted on Monday in smoke, frightening dozens of local citizens and passers-by. Many were taking shelter from the rain under District 1’s Bui Huu Nghia Bridge at around 11 a.m. on June 16, when a loud explosion sound made them all jump. The explosion, coming from beneath the surface of Hoang Sa Street sent two wide schisms through the surface of the asphalt, each more than 2 meters long and 3 centimeters wide. The cracks are four meter away from each other. None was injured in the incident, since the street’s section was empty at the time it occurred. Local Nguyen Thi Tuong, whose home is close to the scene, told Tuoi Tre that she was cooking her lunch when she suddenly heard a loud noise. When she looked outside, the surface of the road was totally destroyed and some smoke was rising from the cracked asphalt. The smoke only stopped after 20 minutes, a witness said, adding that the pavement was broken into trenches."

Note: Well, we've already seen a river on fire, in coastal Wenzhou (China), in March, mentioned in the 2014-03-08 update, and there have been plenty of underground explosions and fires of all kinds, so now I guess we may start seeing ROADS spontaneously exploding?! That'll certainly make driving even more interesting than it already is!
