Event Update For 2014-06-21

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-06-21 - Small plane takes off, bursts into flame, pilot jumps out and falls 1000 feet, plane crashes, ignites brush fire, in Livermore (California), 1 killed:

Quote: "Witnesses saw the pilot jumping from the aircraft, which Nelson described as a 'kit plane,' without a parachute after the plane caught on fire after taking off from Livermore airport and heading north. The tower reported it saw the plane in trouble, then saw flames. The pilot fell about 1,000 feet and landed about 300 yards from the plane, he said. He was killed instantly on impact."

Note: And here's yet another plane catching fire. You can't just pull over if your plane catches fire like the people often do with all the ground vehicle fires, so if you're still brave enough to fly in a small plane then you might want to have a parachute strapped on, lest you have to face the choice this man faced: burn to death or fall 1000 feet. Tough choice there...

Note: They say 'firebugs' did it, but then they say that's just a suspicion, so they don't actually have any evidence of people being involved in starting these fires. Looks just like all the other fires that are spontaneously erupting, especially in coastal areas, and especially during the wee hours. The wee hours are when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane in the air above closer to the ground, making fires, explosions and people and animals sickening and/or dying more common during those hours...

  1. Jonny: Not to beat a dead horse, but the insurance industry (some say the backbone of banking at this point) gotta be on the brink of insolvency. Not that insolvency isn't rampant already especially in the TBTF ones, but for the general populace it covers everything from deposited money to investments, to structures and vehicles and even our own lives. We make risk-based payments on all this to the insurance companies. They calculate risk on principles of an aggregated mean, with plus or minus hedging to finesse the chances of whatever is being insured under USUAL conditions.

Climate change has changed the underlying assumption and the industry cannot model it. All bets are off! Anything can happen now! A perfectly ordinary spring can be suddenly interrupted by a brief but violent snow or hail storm and there go all the crops, or power lines snap or the number of potholes goes up exponentially!
It's more likely AND for all those results just enumerated and many more.

I read one report recently that the flooding in the Balkans (just there!) resulted in 2 billion dollars in damages - it ruined every building and vehicle while causing death and mass evacuation. The tornados wiping out towns (and when they're stupid enough to rebuild there, often the same town gets wiped out TWICE) can't be cheap to cover - and they keep coming! It's not like the industry gets a break in this.

This is just another example of why mathematics doesn't model reality. Reality changes and the math doesn't (or can't when it's chaotically complicated).

Great post Jonny. i'll try to pop back to comment on some of the amazing examples you've cited. I know you "get it," but I need to bounce some of these ideas off of you and our silent audience to either get some corroboration, feedback, explanation, or comment.

Thanks for a providing a consistently enjoyable (what are you, nuts Tom?) and eminently readable blog where, more often than not, the facts speak for themselves.

    1. Haha, 'enjoyable'!

Yeah, the insurance industry isn't factoring in - or understanding - the changing face of reality on Earth, so of course they are going to get pummeled, and they are. I'm sure they pulled out of insuring the recycling industry because they were (haha) getting burned just like the recycling businesses themselves. The insurance industry may not understand what's happening in any detail but they did manage to figure out - eventually - that the recycling industry is going up in flames. Without understanding what's happening though, they can't be pro-active, they can only be reactive, and that's expensive.
