Event Update For 2018-03-26

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

How's everyone doing, out there in the doomasphere? Just waitin' ma turn here. Spring still feels a long way off, but it's slowly warming up. i'm in no hurry for the HEAT though, just wanna get in my garden. The lettuce I planted in Feb. has been buried under snow, twice, but yesterday I took a look and there's a green patina where the seeds are just starting to germinate. We'll see how it goes (might get ANOTHER snowstorm before it's all over, geez).

US peak of tornado season approaches: April, May and June are most active and dangerous months
    http://strangesounds.org/2018/03/peak-of-tornado-season-usa-april-may-june-are-most-active-and-dangerous-months-of-year.html

April kicks off what is typically the most active and dangerous three-month period of the year for tornadoes in the United States. During the 20 years from 1997 to 2016, the U.S. averaged 1,225 tornadoes annually, 55 percent of which were sandwiched between April and June. Historically, May has seen the most tornadoes each year with an average of 275. This is followed by June and April, which average 215 and 187 tornadoes per year, respectively. [more]

Missile fumes over Southern California, Arizona and Nevada leaving swirls of colorful gas looping through the sunset sky
    http://strangesounds.org/2018/03/missile-fumes-over-southern-california-arizona-nevada-leaving-swirls-of-colorful-gas-looping-through-the-sunset-sky.html

Yesterday evening, March 26th, sky watchers in southern California, Arizona and Nevada were surprised when they saw swirls of colorful gas looping through the sunset sky. This wasn’t a rocket launch at Vandenberg AFB. Nope, this very colorful and iridescent cloud was produced by the test launch of a Trident II (D5) missile from a submarine off the coast of San Diego, which was scheduled for March 26-27. [more]

Supervolcano in Utah: The eruption of 20 ancient “supervolcanoes” discovered near the Utah-Nevada was 5,000 times larger than the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption
    http://strangesounds.org/2018/03/supervolcano-utah-nevada-geology-video.html

For 30 years, BYU geologists have searched for the volcano that produced thousands of cubic kilometers of pyroclastic flow on the Utah-Nevada border. Piecing together the geologic evidence from five different mountain ranges across hundreds of miles, they report the discovery of a massive 30-million-year-old supervolcano in Utah. The ancient caldera, which would have been several miles deep, is no longer visible as it has eroded and filled with pyroclastic flow many years ago. The original Wah Wah Springs pyroclastic deposit associated with this caldera covered an area of ~12,000 square miles and had a volume of 5,900 cubic kilometers or ~1,400 cubic miles (5,000 times the size of the Mount St. Helens eruption that emitted just one cubic kilometer of material). The researchers report that this is one of the largest documented supervolcanoes worldwide. [more]

    The Road To Perdition
    http://ponziworld.blogspot.com/2018/03/waterfall-crash-in-real-time.html

There were a few lessons from 2008 that need to be learned the hard way. Not the least of which is: All it takes to con the all-knowing hairless monkey into believing ANYTHING, except the truth, is enough time and unfounded bullshit. How else to explain 5,000 religions and only one god-given reality - everyone wanted their own version of what won't happen...

The way a waterfall crash works is as follows: First there's an unexpected decline, which is followed by a vigorous rally, attended by vigorous amounts of bullshit. Unfortunately, the rally falls short of the prior high. Then comes another unexpected decline. Which is followed by a less vigorous rally, yet attended by substantially more obligatory bullshit.

Which is where we are right now. [more]

  3. Speaking of plants and planting, my significant other's dad died a few years ago, and a friend sent her a condolence gift of a Peace Lily. I surprised her and replanted it into a bigger pot and it's gotten big. Well, a coupla weeks ago, I stumbled across a list of the best air-cleaning plants, and Peace Lily plants are the best, cleaning more kinds of air pollutants from the air than any other kind of plant. Here's some info on that:

    https://lifehacker.com/this-graphic-shows-the-best-air-cleaning-plants-accord-1705307836

    https://greatist.com/connect/houseplants-that-clean-air

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_Clean_Air_Study

Note that Peace Lily plants are apparently toxic to dogs and cats. However, I've had this one plant for years, and have cats, and haven't had any problems. They're just not very interested in it.

Now I'm not saying any of these air-cleaning plants will eliminate hydrogen sulfide or methane from the air, but they do 'inhale' air and 'exhale' more oxygen than they take in, and they definitely clean SOME pollutants from the air.

With that in mind, I ordered some Peace Lily seeds a coupla weeks ago, and I'm waiting for them to come so I can plant a bunch more, because why not. Besides cleaning the air, they're also purty, and they're ridiculously easy to take care of, no green thumb required.

    Just puttin' it out there!

  4. Thanks Jonny! My wife's looking for a few indoor plants for the bedroom for just that reason - clean the air. I don't point out how silly this is when we sleep with our dog and the atmosphere of the planet is more like a closed up garage and the engine of civilization is non-stop belching all kinda noxious crap into it.
Don't get me wrong, I love plants and have them all over the house, but suddenly there's this kick to put plants in your bedroom, so fine - and she loves lilies.

Two shocking mass die-offs have made the headlines within the last 5 days. On March 22, 2018, 143 whales died after a mass-stranding at Hamelin Bay, 10km north of Augusta, Australia. Now, just 2 days after, 61 short-beaked dolphins were found washed ashore on a beach resort in Argentina. 49 died and 12 were saved. This mass die-off is unprecedented, as it represents the first case of marine mammals being stranded in this region of Argentina. [more]

These spheres represent the volume of erupted tephra for some of the most widely-known explosive volcanic eruptions. Although most people believe that Vesuvius (79 AD – the Pompeii eruption), Mount St. Helens (1980), and Mount Pinatubo (1991) were enormous, they are very small compared to ancient eruptions such as Wah Wah Springs, Toba, Yellowstone, or Long Valley Caldera. Yes, some volcanic eruptions are thousands, or even a million times more explosive than others. [more; great chart and short video at the bottom]
