Event Update For 2017-03-15

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2017-03-15 - Cabin without power bursts into flame and burns up on unoccupied island in Lake of the Woods in Kenora (Wisconsin):
http://www.kenoraonline.com/local/island-vacant-at-time-of-cabin-fire

Quote: "A source close to the situation says no one was on the island at the time of a cabin fire on Lake of the Woods today. The fire started on one of the small islands between Scotty's and Middle Island in Kenora late this afternoon. No cause of the fire has been identified, but the source added power at the cabin was off at the time of the fire. They also noted the fire may have spread to a neighbouring island."

Note: Heh, that's gotta be a puzzler for investigators - nobody on the island, no power to the cabin, and yet it still went up in flames. Must've been something rusty in the area, or there was something flammable and adsorbent around, like wood the cabin was made with, or upholstered furniture, rugs/carpet/curtains, paper/cardboard or clothes. Anything like that and fire can break out now. If there's any electricity around then fire breaking out is even more likely, but it's not necessary. So any home that's made with wood/nails or which contains anything rusty, or which contains wood, clothes, paper, cardboard, rugs/carpets/curtains or upholstered furniture can go up in flames at any time, just like this cabin did. That's a civilization-ending problem all by itself, and it's just one of many...

Quote: "The luminous-looking green ice already covers about 650 square miles (about 1000 square kilometres) – and it is growing by the day. NASA scientists who spotted the bizarre green ice among the thousands of routine survey pictures taken from 700 miles up by US satellite Landsat 8 are baffled."

Note: Anything that changes the color of ice from white to anything else will cause that area of ice to absorb more heat. Whatever is happening here is a problem, and it could be a big problem if this continues to happen, and if the area of ice being discolored continues to grow...

  1. Marsh fire - sounds like an impossibility (after all, a marsh is a WET area) - and yet, here it is!

I need another ruling on the guy that dropped dead in that river NEAR Hull. Do I include it, along with the two OTHER JJFH incidents IN Hull? i'm inclined to say yes, but it's your call, Jonny. In either case, Hull now has a record 6 straight days of incidents! Britain looks to be the 'burniest' place in the Northern Hemisphere (maybe ANYWHERE).

The Debt Ceiling Deadline Has Passed, And Now The Biggest Test Of Donald Trump’s Presidency Begins…
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/the-debt-ceiling-deadline-has-passed-and-now-the-biggest-test-of-donald-trumps-presidency-begins

On Wednesday, the temporary suspension of the debt ceiling ended, and so now the federal government is not going to be able to go into any more debt until the debt ceiling is raised.  For the moment, the Trump administration can implement “emergency measures” to stay under the debt limit, but it won’t be too long before we get to a major crisis point because the federal government is quickly running out of cash.  Already, the U.S. Treasury has less cash on hand than Apple or Google, and that cash balance is going to keep on dropping until the debt ceiling is finally lifted. 3. [today's statistics lesson]
    Temperature residuals and coverage uncertainty.
    https://moyhu.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/temperature-residuals-and-coverage.html

A few days ago I posted an extensive ANOVA-type analysis of the successive reduction of variance as the spatial behaviour of global temperatures was more finely modelled. This is basically a follow-up to show how the temperature field can be partitioned into a smooth part with known reliable interpolation, and a hopefully small residue. Then the size of the residue puts a limit on the coverage uncertainty.

I wrote about coverage uncertainty in January. It's the uncertainty about what would happen if one could measure in different places, and is the main source of uncertainty in the monthly global indices. A different and useful way of seeing it is as the uncertainty that comes with interpolation. Sometimes you see sceptic articles decrying interpolation as "making up data". But it is the complement of sampling, which is how we measure. You can only measure anything at a finite number of places. You infer what happens elsewhere by interpolation; that can't be avoided. Just about everything we know about the physical world, or economic for that matter, is deduced from a finite number of samples. [more]

What Trump did in a nutshell is give insiders a chance to get out. And they took it

"Chief executives may profess loving a pro-business president in the White House, but they are saying something else with their money"

In the last week, insiders' sale transactions on the NYSE outnumbered their purchase transactions by more than 11 to 1, according to Vickers, a publication of Argus Research. The 11.47 reading is 3.5 standard deviations above the mean"

The real problem with overpopulation seems to have to do with the fact that the human information dissemination and processing system (the "Cybersphere") is unable to deal with long-range planning. And we are no better suited than dinosaurs to survive the challenges ahead.

  5. His body actually was found IN Hull. Heh, sometimes I just put 'near' to hedge in case they correct an address or something. But in this case, he was found in the River Humber at the Humber Marina in Hull, which is where the River Humber meets the ocean. So yes, definitely count that. I'll change that to 'in Hull' too, since that's more accurate and precise than 'near'.
