Event Update For 2016-12-31

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

He found a one to two degrees temperature rise in the waters off the southern coast. The animals have started moving because of that and Seymour predicts that south-east Queensland beaches could be closed down as stings from the Irukandji jellyfish may increase. 1. Hah - yeah, probably acid too (but not me, too old).

Nice job on this last day of the year, Jonny. Lemme play with the numbers a bit and i'll send you some stats a little later.

How about all these buildings collapsing all over the world?
Between that and all the fires, people won't be living in buildings before long, eh? We'll have to start building underground - but that will have its own set of problems (closer to any gas percolating out of the ground, and a low spot for any gas above ground).

Awful lot of people dropped dead this year. Might make an interesting category to keep track of for this coming year.

  3. To find the standard deviation, i'll have to go back all through the year and log how many of each event per day, subtract the mean (that i'll provide in a minute) from each day's # of events, square those and add them all up, divide by 365 and take the square root of that, so it'll take a little time.

Here's the averages (means) for the various JJFH categories Jonny tracked this year:

Residential explosions: total, 414 avg (mean), 1.1 per day

    RV's: total, 556 mean, 1.5 per day

Buses: total, 952 mean, 2.6 per day

Marine craft: total, 1527 mean, 4 per day

Tractor trailer category: total, 2350 mean, 6.4 each day

Also, i'd like to go back and begin doing that for the past at least 2 years (say, to 2014) and see how just the averages are changing. i'll play with the data and see what I come up with.

  4. Okay, here ya go:

All categories except residential explosions went UP in 2016

Residential explosions: total, 436 mean, 1.2 per day

    RV's: total, 408 mean, 1.1 per day

Buses: total, 880 mean, 2.4 per day

Marine craft: total, 1118 mean, 3 per day

Tractor trailer category: total 2090 mean, 5.7 per day

There were no totals for 2014 (that's when we decided to do this, right? God, has it been that long already? Geez]

  5. I would've started earlier, but I figured people would find the end of the world more interesting than a piano-playing cat and would wake up before now instead of being insanely oblivious as they die off. Not that piano-playing cats aren't cool!
