Event Update For 2014-02-22

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: 'Zombie' Files
2014-02-22 - Naked man runs through the streets of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), gets chased down and tased:
Quote: "Pittsburgh Police were called to reports of a man who took off his clothes as he started walking across a downtown bridge. Witnesses say the man started taking off his clothes on the Rachel Carson bridge, and throwing them into the Allegheny River."
Note: That is exactly the same behavior the original face-eater exhibited - walked across a causeway, tossing his clothes away as he went. Hydrogen sulfide makes people feel warmer and fearless, as Jenkem users have noted:
Quote: "They say it keeps them warm and makes them fearless."
Note: So if hydrogen sulfide doesn't knock you dead (which will be the norm), but simply damages your brain, then it appears that you'll tend to strip off your clothes, probably because you're too warm, and then you might do crazy violent stuff, exhibit superhuman strength and fearlessness, etc. So a 'zombie apocalypse' is looking plenty real, except they're not actually dead, just brain-damaged, and you won't have to shoot their brains out but because of their potential superhuman strength you might want to anyway, just to be safe. And you won't become a zombie yourself just by being bitten but rather by breathing neurotoxic hydrogen sulfide, which could blow over you at any time now. The Rachel Carson Bridge goes over the Allegheny River, a low-lying area where hydrogen sulfide, a heavier-than-air gas, will tend to accumulate...
2014-02-22 - Naked man attacks bus driver in Irvington (New Jersey):

Quote: "Two people are in the hospital Saturday, after being flown to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, in Augusta, Georgia following an early morning explosion. According to officials on the scene, there was an incident Saturday morning along White Horse Road in Greenville County that prompted emergency crews to transport burn victims from one care facility to another."

Note: So a care facility exploded? Kinda vague with the details there...

2014-02-22 - Tour boat starts taking on water then bursts into flame near coastal Auckland (New Zealand), passengers rescued:

Quote: "The cause of the fire was unknown, but police said the Fire Service's call-out took place long after the passengers had been removed and when the vessel was safely moored."

2014-02-22 - Train engine bursts into flame in Pincher Creek (Canada):

Note: Another train engine burst into flame a couple of days prior too, as it was leaving Fountain (Colorado). Cops and firefighters had to chase it down and put it out, mentioned in the 2014-02-20 update...

2014-02-22 - SUV bursts into flame, later explodes, on the M57 near Liverpool (Britain), man almost killed:

Quote: "There was less than 60 seconds between me getting out and the car exploding. The heat when it actually popped - I’m standing 20 metres away from this thing - and it was like a force of heat hitting me in the face. Less than two minutes later, and there was nothing left of the car, absolutely nothing - not a single piece of paintwork, not a seat, a mirror, not a single thing. It was just a complete lump of ash."

Quote: "Luckily, I am a young, healthy male, and I’m quick on my feet. This could have been my father, who is 68-years-old. He’s got problems with his hip and might not have got out. Or there could have been small children in the car. It could have been a tragedy. I love adrenalin sports - I love to dip my toe in that dangerous side - but yesterday was a little bit too close for me, to say the least."

Quote: "BMW could not be reached for comment."

2014-02-22 - Three cars go up in flames while parked at Gulf Coast Town Center in coastal Fort Myers (Florida):

Quote: "The San Carlos Fire Department is on the scene of a three car fire at the Gulf Coast Town Center."

2014-02-22 - Six cars destroyed by fire before 4 AM while parked in Millville (Delaware):

Note: They're assuming arson, but their evidence - none mentioned - is less than convincing. Being ignorant of the problem we face, they're probably making the same mistake that cops made when three patrol cars went up in flames while parked at a police station in Norwich (Vermont), mentioned in the 2012-11-22 update. Initially they said that was arson too, and that accelerants were involved, then they changed their story and said it was accidental, probably after reviewing surveillance footage which showed the cars simply bursting into flame. They were correct about accelerants being involved though: both methane and hydrogen sulfide are highly flammable, which means they are accelerants. The wee hours are when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane in the air above closer to the ground...

2014-02-22 - Vacant home burns at 5:30 AM in Madison County (Kentucky):

2014-02-22 - Man found dead in vehicle just before 4 AM in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania):

Note: This story lists the dead guy in a car and the two people who burned to death in another car. Unrelated? I wouldn't be so sure about that. They did have some things in common: geography, timeframe and the atmosphere. Hydrogen sulfide will knock people dead and being highly flammable, it will ignite vehicles too. The two corpses in the burning car are reminiscent of the young engaged couple who burned to death in their vehicle in McFarland (Wisconsin), who mysteriously never even tried to escape (probably because they were already dead or unconscious), mentioned in the 2013-01-01 update. Many people have burned to death in vehicles since then. Obviously the cops, being completely ignorant of what's going on, will assume this or assume that, so I'll just leave the assuming to the *cough* professionals...

Note: Hydrogen sulfide poisoning can cause bleeding from nose, mouth, ears. Many people have been found dead similarly, after mysteriously bleeding out. Construction site means building not completed, which means it was more open to the atmosphere than a completed and well-insulated building...
