The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "All power has been restored to UC San Diego Sunday morning after a manhole cover exploded overnight. It happened just after 3:30a.m. in front of the social sciences building..."
Note: Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas and will seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities, basements, valleys, ditches, canyons, bodies of water, etc. It's also reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, and as a consequence there have been numerous underground electrical fires and explosions around the world, especially in the last few months. Also, the wee hours are when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane floating in the atmosphere above closer to the ground, making explosions, fires and hydrogen sulfide poisoning events more common during those hours.

2013-06-02 - Methane being released from ice in the Antarctic and the Himalayan Plateau now as heat deteriorates ice integrity:

Note: Uh oh, another large source of methane emissions. So now we've got methane clathrates dissociating in the waters near Siberia, off the coast of Israel, off the U.S. East Coast, and methane is coming up through the ground in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, California, and Australia, and now ice is releasing methane in the Antarctic and the Himalayas. There will be more too. This problem is planetary in scale and it is completely out of control. We won't be living on the surface of the Earth for much longer. It's time to accept that and make whatever sociological changes are necessary as we transition to habitats below ground, underwater or off-planet, for as many people as possible. Maybe - if we all work together - we can still save 5% or 10% of the Earth's population, but that percentage is going to be dropping with every day we wait now...
Of the 3 that you mentioned, underwater, underground or off-planet, where do you plan on living? I'm going to tough it out on the surface so I most likely won't last long but my health isn't that good anyway so death would be a blessing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how much methane, H2S & other toxic gases are released directly from volcanoes not from clathrates?

No idea on the volcanic emissions. I think that sort of thing is kinda volcano-specific, different volcanoes have different 'mixes', so on a planetary scale it'd depend on which volcanoes erupt. In other words, I don't think anyone can really say until it's a done deed, whatever the case may be.
DeleteAs to where I plan on living - hah! Not sure I any chance of surviving alone. Working with others, if enough people wake up, then I'd probably try underground, since the human race does have some experience doing that. I've been playing around with habitat designs and the like, trying to figure out how to solve the main problems. Pretty tough though. It might simply require the resources of governments. I guess Bush has some ideas, with his 200,000 acres in Paraguay, but then again, he's got hundreds of millions of dollars to fund things too.
