The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: Taytay sits on the banks of the Laguna de Bay and is about 5 miles from ocean waters too. The explosion happened inside the Explosives and Ordnance Division office. I mentioned ammo depots burning and exploding specifically in the full hypothesis. That was over a year ago. In this past year there have been ammo depot explosions in Russia (huge one, mushroom cloud), Congo, the island of Cyprus, Louisiana, Turkey, and fireworks factories (the civilian equivalent) have exploded in China, Indonesia, Nigeria, and more. You probably don't want to be living anywhere near any kind of facility that makes or stores munitions or fireworks of any kind...

Note: Water-heater again. Water heaters are a serious explosion and fire risk now. Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas and water heaters are usually on the bottom floor, often the basement. Hydrogen sulfide is also water-soluble and may get inside buildings via the water supply. And with a pilot light right there, if the water supply DOES get contaminated then over time enough gas may ooze out of the water heater to cause a fire or explosion or both...

Note: East St. Louis is on the downwind side of the Mississippi River, so any hydrogen sulfide accumulating at the river will tend to blow toward East St. Louis when the wind picks up. From the story it doesn't sound like these homes were adjacent but were in the same general area. That's what you might expect to see if a flammable atmospheric gas plume - hydrogen sulfide or methane or both - were blowing through the area...

Note: An incident very much like this happened recently in California, where a tour bus's brakes went out near coastal Los Angeles (California) and the bus ended up crashing and killing 8 people and injuring more, as mentioned in the 2013-02-03 update. Hydrogen sulfide and/or methane are being absorbed into tire rubber, probably mostly hydrogen sulfide since it's a heavier-than-air gas and tires rest on the ground. Then when brakes are applied, the brake-friction generates more heat than normal (since hydrogen sulfide burns very hot) and then bad things can happen: brakes burn up or ignite, tires ignite or explode, fluid lines rupture, sometimes the entire vehicle goes up in flame (as just happened to two tractor trailers and a truck in one day, as mentioned in the 2013-03-07 update). This problem is hitting larger vehicles the worst, because A) they have more rubber; and B) they have lots of mass, which means more brake-friction required to slow, which means more chance this problem will manifest. It affects planes too; they are blowing tires and sometimes having their landing gear collapse, mostly after landing (when they tend to hit their brakes the hardest)...
