Event Update For 2020-10-31
http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "Peconic Bay scallops, which endured a historic die-off last year, appear to have suffered an even worse fate this year as baymen say early trips show none are to be found, and researchers continue to study multiple potential causes. The scallop harvest season, which starts Monday and continues through March 31, is expected to be a wipeout, fishermen say. Longtime Peconic bayman Bob Bourguignon from Flanders said he and two other longtime baymen took a recent trip to survey some of the best scallop grounds in the Peconic and Shinnecock Bay and found not a single harvestable scallop."
Quote: "All the spots that we normally find scallops, there’s nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing."

Record fires ravage Brazil's Amazon and Pantanal regions
https://www.yahoo.com/news/record-fires-ravage-brazils-amazon-054753924.html
A record high number of fires scorched Brazil's Amazon and Pantanal wetlands last month, official data showed on Sunday, as deforestation and climate change wreaked havoc on some of the planet's most valuable ecosystems.
Satellite imagery showed close to 100,000 fires in the first 10 months of 2020, more than were seen in the whole of last year.
The INPE also detected almost 3,000 individual fires in the Pantanal, a new monthly record since data collection began in 1998.
The region -- 23 percent of which is estimated to have gone up in smoke this year -- has seen a record-breaking 21,115 fires so far this year, more than double the number registered in all of 2019. [more]

Parched fields stretch as far as the eye can see on plains overlooking Agadir in southwestern Morocco, as precious water resources are diverted from the drought-hit agricultural heartland to households.
"These trees are nearly 20 years old -- they're dead, there is no longer any water," sighed Ahmed Driouch, a farmer, his withered orange trees testament to three years of intensifying drought.
For the past three years, the region has been struggling with a drought that exacerbated water resources and prompted authorities to make a painful choice. [more]

At least 10 people died and three others were missing after Typhoon Goni, the world's strongest typhoon this year, barreled through the south of the Philippines' main island on Sunday, an initial government report showed. More than 300 houses were buried under volcanic rocks and mud flows from Mayon Volcano in severely hit Albay province - south of Manila. Storm surges hit some coastal towns, while rivers overflowed and dikes were destroyed. Several people are suspected of having been buried alive. Rescue operations underway in the San Gabriel Mountains for rare species marooned by wildfire
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/rescue-operations-underway-san-gabriel-140057974.html
Just weeks after the Bobcat fire ravaged the San Gabriel Mountains, state and federal biologists are racing to salvage as many federally endangered species as possible before storms could inundate the animals' last outposts with mud and debris.
Creating clouds of ashes and dust with every step in the shadows of skeletal trees scorched by the blaze, eight U.S. Geological Survey scientists on Wednesday made their way down to a vein of water at the bottom of steep Little Rock Canyon, armed with long-handled nets, backpack coolers and emergency rescue permits.
“This may be the last time in my life that I see wild mountain yellow-legged frogs in the last best place for them,” said biologist Robert Fisher, gazing at dozens of tadpoles browsing on algae at the bottom of a granite tub.

Body mistaken for Halloween prop sat on balcony for days, Los Angeles cops say
https://www.yahoo.com/news/body-mistaken-halloween-prop-sits-152321801.html
Neighbors thought the body slumped over a patio table on a third-floor apartment balcony in Marina del Rey, California, had to be part of a Halloween display.
“He looked fake,” said Austin Raishbrook, 33, The New York Times reported. “It looked like somebody had thrown a dummy over the back of a chair.”
So no one called 911 for four days.
When someone notified authorities Oct. 15, police discovered the decomposing body of a 75-year-old man on the balcony, The Los Angeles Daily News reported.
Police believe the man, who had a gunshot wound to the eye, died by suicide, The New York Times reported. McClatchy News is not identifying the man. [more]

Climate crisis breaks open generational rifts in US families
https://www.yahoo.com/news/climate-crisis-breaks-open-generational-150045260.html
While polling shows a clear majority of Americans accept that the climate is changing and want the federal government to respond to the myriad threats this poses, the issue has been polarized in the US to extremes not seen in other leading democracies.
a generational divide is also opening up, with younger people – even young conservatives – increasingly alarmed over the impact of global heating. An overwhelming 80% of voters aged between 18 and 29 consider the climate crisis “a major threat to life on Earth”, according to a poll taken earlier this year. Levels of concern among older people, particularly Republican voters, lag significantly. [more]

A grizzly bear seriously injured a father and son who were hunting in northern Montana in a "surprise" attack, wildlife officials said. The bear charged out of a thickly wooded area and attacked the two on a road Saturday near Smith Lake north of Whitefish Lake in the Flathead Valley, according to the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks state agency.
The hunters "sustained significant injuries" before they shot and killed the bear, the agency said in a statement. They were later flown to a hospital.

3 killed in crash of plane from North Carolina in New York
https://www.yahoo.com/news/small-plane-nc-3-aboard-132258430.html
Authorities on Monday found the wreckage of a small plane from North Carolina that crashed in western New York a day earlier, killing all three people aboard, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.
The twin-engine Grumman American GA-7 was found near the town of Ellicott in an area between Route 380 and Route 60, around 10 a.m., the office said.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
Weather may have been a factor in the plane’s disappearance. The Jamestown area was experiencing wind gusts of about 25 to 30 mph with light snow Sunday night.
Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday. The search for the plane was halted around 1 a.m. and resumed after daylight, authorities said.
