Event Update For 2019-07-20

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was notified Friday afternoon of a truck fire near Mahogany Butte. U.S. Forest Service crews had extinguished the fire, and a Forest Service law enforcement officer had determined the truck, a 2011 Dodge crew cab pickup, contained human remains. The investigation paused as night fell Friday. On Saturday, investigators gathered evidence in an attempt to determine the cause of the fire and the identity of the person inside the truck, which had suffered extreme damage. The state medical examiner’s office has been involved in the effort, according to a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office press release. Foul play is not suspected."

The iconic species has disappeared from 94 percent of its historic range, which once included almost the entire African continent but is now limited to less than 660,000 square miles. With fewer than an estimated 25,000 in Africa, lions are listed as vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, which determines the conservation status of species. [like the Constitution, nobody even considers this a goal now]

The Powering Past Coal Alliance, or PPCA, is a coalition of 30 countries and 22 cities and states that aims to phase out unabated coal power. But analysis led by Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, published in Nature Climate Change, shows that members mainly pledge to close older plants near the end of their lifetimes, resulting in limited emissions reductions. The research also shows that expansion of the PPCA to major coal consuming countries would face economic and political difficulties.

By analysing a worldwide database of coal power plants, the researchers have shown that pledges from PPCA members will result in a reduction of about 1.6 gigatonnes of CO2 from now until 2050. This represents only around 1/150th of projected CO2 emissions over the same time period from all coal power plants which are already operating globally. [more; pfff]

It's not yet clear how the funding cut will play out at the universities, but some experts worry that when it comes to the future of climate science there, the damage is already done.

    https://www.sott.net/article/417168-Monsoon-death-toll-tops-650-with-10-million-affected-as-rains-unleash-flood-fury-in-South-Asia

More than 10 million people in the South Asian countries have been affected by the deluge, which has also forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.

In India, heavy rains since the start of July have killed at least 467 people with many districts in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam states cut off because of flooding.

More than 70 people have also died in building collapses in Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh states following substantial rainfalls.

In neighbouring Nepal, 90 people have died and another 29 are missing, although the worst seems to be over in the Himalayan country.

Torrential rains in flood-prone Bangladesh have killed more than 97 people -- most by drowning and lightning strikes -- in the last two weeks, with swathes of agricultural fields lying inundated.

At least 30 people have also lost their lives in Pakistan.[more]

Nice try, wrong missile: US botches propaganda video accusing Russia of INF violation
    https://www.sott.net/article/417186-Nice-try-wrong-missile-US-botches-propaganda-video-accusing-Russia-of-INF-violation

The US mission to NATO sought to blame Russia for the expiration of an arms control treaty by posting a Twitter cartoon claiming Moscow had developed a forbidden missile - but didn't help its own argument by showing the wrong one.

In a surprisingly poor-quality video, narrated by a female AI voice, the US accused Russia of developing a missile that was banned under the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, and said there was still time for Moscow to "come back into full and verifiable compliance" before the deal expires on August 2.

Not only is this not true, but the missile system shown in the cartoon was the perfectly legal and completely different Iskander-M.

The real problem is the claim that preserving the INF treaty is somehow Russia's responsibility, with just over a week left on the clock.

Russia, however, has cited the US exit from the ABM treaty as one of the key reasons - along with NATO's eastward expansion - for its military modernization program and in particular the development of new missile technologies capable of maintaining its nuclear deterrent. [more]

But this year, the rain has been sparse and drought has been declared in more than a dozen provinces in northern and northeastern rice regions.

The government is considering measures such as cloud seeding to try to bring rain but in the meantime, farmers have been asked to hold off.

"We would like to ask farmers not to grow new crops of rice because there may not be enough water," Irrigation Department official Sanya Sangpumpong told Reuters. [more]
