Event Update For 2019-01-16

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2019-01-16 - Hydrogen sulfide spewing from landfill in East Brunswick (New Jersey):
http://www.mycentraljersey.com/story/news/local/middlesex-county/2019/01/17/rotten-egg-odor-middlesex-county-landfill-byproduct-emissions-trash/2601553002/

Quote: "Blame hydrogen sulfide for the 'rotten egg' odor coming from the Middlesex County Landfill (Edgeboro), the Middlesex County Utilities Authority's executive directory says. 'The rotten egg smell is bad for your nose, but very little else,' State Sen. Joseph Cryan told a packed room of residents who grilled him and other authority officials during a forum conducted Wednesday night in the township. While the smell is not harmful to residents' health, Cryan, the authority's executive director, said that officials recognize that it doesn't add to the local quality of life, and detailed an ongoing $15-million-plus capital improvement project aimed at reducing the odor."

Note: State Senator Joseph Cryan clearly doesn't know jack. Hydrogen sulfide is a deadly poison, weaponized by the British to kill German soldiers in WWI during trench warfare. It's as deadly as hydrogen cyanide, which is what they use to execute people in gas chambers. At 1 part per thousand it can kill a person with one breath, the so-called 'Slaughterhouse Sledgehammer Effect' where you're dead before your knees buckle and your corpse hits the ground. And nobody knows what it does to people who smell it regularly, even at low levels, but the effects can't possibly be good. They're probably smelling it at very low concentrations in this area, but since it's a heavier-than-air gas, it will tend to concentrate in low-lying areas when the wind isn't blowing, and who knows what concentration it might reach then. State Senator Joseph Cryan should try inhaling some 0.1% hydrogen sulfide if he's really sure it's not harmful. I'm guessing he won't do that and if he does then somebody should have a body bag handy to cart away his corpse...

2019-01-16 - Unknown rotten egg odor hits school in Utica (New York):

2019-01-16 - Oceans heating up rapidly, massive amount of heat added to the oceans in one year:
http://www.livescience.com/64510-hottest-ocean.html
http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00376-019-8276-x
http://preview.msn.com/en-ca/video/watch/scientists-sound-the-alarm-2018-ocean-temps-hotter-than-ever/vi-BBSlpTH

Quote: "The ocean is the hottest it's ever been, and no, this is not normal. A new report released in the journal Advances in Atmospheric Sciences on Jan. 15 reveals that ocean temperatures in 2018 reached their highest point since accurate measurements first began in the 1950s. The heat increase in the world's oceans from 2017 (the previous record holder) to 2018 is equivalent to about 388 times the total electricity generation of China in 2017, according to a statement about the research released by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics in China."

Quote: "After 2018 and 2017, the third warmest year for ocean temperatures was 2015, followed by 2016 and finally 2014."

Note: So the five warmest years ever measured for the oceans were all in the last five years. From warmest to fifth-warmest: 2018, 2017, 2015, 2016, 2014...

2019-01-16 - Theoretically, the worst of global warming could be avoided if all fossil fuel stuff immediately begins transition to zero-carbon alternatives:
http://nypost.com/2019/01/16/drastic-solution-to-halt-climate-change-could-be-our-last/

Quote: "According to a new study published in the journal Nature Communications, Earth has a 64 percent chance of keeping warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius if all fossil fuel infrastructures immediately begin to transition into zero-carbon alternatives."

Note: Doesn't sound remotely possible. I mean, the Earth's own carbon emissions are rising now, and that's not going to stop and will, in fact, accelerate. Also, as a practical matter, there's no way to decarbonize 'immediately' even if there was the will to do so. So, this sounds like a pipe dream to me, some placating hopium for the masses. And even if we DID somehow miraculously achieve the impossible, then we'd lose the benefits of 'global dimming' and global temps would then quickly rise a significant amount, amplifying any number of other self-reinforcing feedbacks and thus rapidly escalating the Earth's own carbon emissions. We're now trapped in a cycle of destruction from which there is no escape and which ends with our own extinction as well as the extinction of most life on Earth. The End.

Quote: "Global cargo carrier, Cargolux Airlines flight CV703, en-route to Zhengzhou, China, returned to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) shortly after take-off today after the aircraft reportedly 'experienced fire and smoke in the cockpit'. The Luxembourg-based cargo airline in a statement said an emergency was declared after the crew reported the presence of fire and smoke in the cockpit."

Quote: "An Indonesian fisherman who claims to know the exact spot where the ill-fated MH370 plane crashed into the Sumatra sea has handed over the co-ordinates to investigators. Rusli Khusmin, 42, says he and his crew members witnessed the disaster, in which a Beijing-bound Malaysian Airlines flight carrying 239 people disappeared, on the morning of March 8, 2014."

Quote: "There was no noise, just black smoke as a result of fires before it crashed into the water."

Note: I've always thought that this plane either caught fire or that the pilots were gassed to death in the cockpit, and either way the plane flew on until it crashed...

  1. It's gonna be bad year, Jonny. Once again you clearly point the way to what's happening through observation and solid analysis of the many phenomena occuring at the same time (ie. your reports cover incidents from the same day, worldwide). You looked at the evidence, saw that the planet is heating from below (for whatever reason) and that this has happened before! You found the mechanism by which it all goes to shit - the very gases that come from decay permeating the atmosphere and biosphere causing death and fire where ever the concentration is high enough. Excellent work.

What is all that methane in the Arctic Ocean?
    http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2019/01/what-is-all-that-methane-in-arctic-ocean.html

The following was a helpful comment on Margo's video that corresponds with our own view of what might be happening:

"Hi Margo, not had time to catch up with all your videos, but was looking at CAMS and Climate Reanalyser today and realised that the methane plumes in the Arctic are actually coming through the ice off the eastern side of Novaya Zemlya and in the East Siberian Sea. How is that even possible?"

What follows is an attempt to address this question.
Is methane coming up from below in warmer Arctic seas?

    Why don't the oceans freeze?

An interesting point from this article was this:

"Because earth's insulating crust is much thinner under the oceans than under the continents, most of the earth's internal heat escapes into the oceans. Although the temperature of the air at an ocean's surface may be freezing, the temperature of the water deep in the ocean is significantly warmer due to internal heating". 2. A study shows an increase of permafrost temperature at a global scale
    http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2019/01/increase-of-permafrost-temperature-at.html

Permafrost melting causes the release of carbon dioxide and methane, with its consequences, which speed up global warming

Permafrost, the ground below the freezing point of water 0 º for two or more years, is an element of the cryosphere which has not been as much studied as other soils like glaciers or marine ice, although it plays an important role in the climate evolution of the planet and in several human activities. Now, for the first time, a review of the state of permafrost on Earth has been carried out thanks to the data analysis of more than 120 drillings distributed around the Arctic and the Antarctica, as well as in mountains and high plains worldwide.

The study, titled "Permafrost is warming at a global scale" has been published in the journal Nature Communications, and is led by the researcher Boris Biskaborn, from the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (Germany). Among the collaborators of the study is Marc Oliva, coordinator of the Research Group Antarctic, Arctic and Alpine Environments (ANTALP), from the University of Barcelona [more]

Investors Beware: “The World Economy Is Headed For A Recession In 2019 Unless Something Happens”
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/investors-beware-the-world-economy-is-headed-for-a-recession-in-2019-unless-something-happens

Global economic activity has been slowing down dramatically in recent months, and now the mainstream media is filled with dire warnings that a global recession is dead ahead in 2019. And without a doubt, things do not look good right now as economic numbers from all over the globe just get bleaker and bleaker. China’s trade numbers are imploding, Germany is “careening towards recession”, and the government shutdown in the United States is taking a huge toll on the U.S. economy. In past years, the mainstream media usually tried to put a positive spin on any bad numbers, but now their mood seems completely different. [uhm, ya gotta get the government running again first]

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) wants his former colleagues in the upper chamber to increase the government's efforts in studying unidentified flying objects.

"What we found in the past is that these pilots, when they see something strange like this, they're prone not to report it for fear that the bosses will think something's wrong with them, and they don't get the promotion," Reid said Thursday in the interview. "So, many, many times they don't say a word to anybody about these strange things." [more]

Environment Canada has been busy with weather alerts and special statements throughout Montreal's cold and snowy week, and the website was back at it again this morning in a rare alert.

This morning, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for this coming Monday - a rare release this far ahead of a storm.

"An intense winter storm is forecast to move across New England Sunday, then the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Monday," reads the alert. "It will bring significant amounts of snow and will generate very strong and frigid northerly winds that will generate blowing snow considerably reducing visibilities and making roads very slippery." Named after ancient Egyptian god of evil, darkness and destruction, Apophis asteroid could strike Earth in 2068, warn Russian scientists

"The [asteroid's] approach causes a significant scattering of possible trajectories, among them trajectories indicating convergence in 2051," the report says. "Further orbital resonance reentries contain a great number (about one hundred) possible collisions between Apophis and the Earth, the most dangerous of them in 2068."

If it does pass through the two-meter wide 'keyhole' during the projected 2029 flyby, it would mean an impact sometime in 2068 (though the odds of this happening are somewhere in the region of about one in 2.3 million). [more]

    The Crime Of The Century
    http://ponziworld.blogspot.com/2019/01/the-crime-of-century.html

The Banana Republican borrowed stolen tax cut for the ultra-wealthy, will be viewed as the largest theft in human history without any comparison...

The "good news" is that this year is starting off identical to last year with a global vertical ramp. The bad news is that it's not last year.

Deja vu of last year, the S&P is rallying into January's fourth quarter earnings reports, the only difference is that last year featured blowout earnings, whereas this year, so far earnings season has been a bust, with high profile misses by JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, American Express, Wells Fargo, and now Netflix. This week alone. To say nothing of the myriad earnings warnings leading up to this season.

Today's fake rally is compliments of yet more *news* about a trade deal between the U.S. and China. We've only seen this movie several times, but the old age home can't remember the ending.

Here we can see via China's largest consumer stock, the various trade deals and fake agreements that have been struck over the past year. Unfortunately for today's denialists, Trump isn't interested in a "deal", his not so hidden agenda, is to implode China.

    It's working great.
