Event Update For 2017-09-17

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2017-09-17 - Unknown gas leaks from sewer system, several people sickened, in coastal London (Britain):

Quote: "Emergency services rushed to Alwold Crescent in Lee, south London after residents were rushed to hospital with nausea and vomiting..."

Quote: "We reviewed a row of terraced houses and maisonettes after residents reported smelling an unknown chemical."

Quote: "Taxi driver Ian Crouch, 39, told The Sun that emergency services appeared to be investigating the sewage system."

Note: The symptoms match low-level hydrogen sulfide poisoning, which is commonly called 'sewer gas'. The odds are obviously very high that a gas that leaked from the sewer system, that had those symptoms, was sewer gas. Those people are lucky to be alive, but they may have sustained permanent damage to their brains, kidneys, hearts or other organs. This is just one event in a pattern of similar events involving unknown odors sickening people on coasts, many of which have occurred in Britain, and many of those in the last year alone. Also see the parked car that burst into flame on a street in London on this day...

2017-09-17 - 'Gas odor' hits jail in St. Louis (Missouri), 2000 feet from the Mississippi River:

Quote: "Laclede Gas Company crews responded to the city's medium-security jail on Sunday after reports of a gas odor. 'We didn't find any gas leaking on the property at that time,' company spokeswoman Jenny Gobble said."

Quote: "Gobble said technicians did not find evidence of natural gas or carbon monoxide outside the jail, underground or in areas of the building where the scent was reported."

Note: Also see the man found dead in the Mississippi River in Alton (Illinois), about 13 miles from this jail...

2017-09-17 - Underground electrical fire breaks out near Lake Erie in Erie (Pennsylvania):

Quote: "The exact cause of an underground fire reported in downtown Erie is still under investigation by Penelec. The fire sent firefighters and city police into action shortly after 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The first call was for smoke pouring out of the street grates at 10th and State Street near Sluggers Bar.  The first firefighters to arrive on the scene said they say heavy smoke streaming up from underground."

2017-09-17 - Sea louse attacks and kills shark:

Quote: "Suddenly, the second shark is seen spiralling out of control, before moments later, being left motionless. The shark has been attacked by a ginormous sea louse that latches onto its prey’s head. It suffocates the shark, slowly killing it before devouring its body."

Note: I normally don't list animal-on-animal attacks, but in light of the boy getting his feet munched on by sea lice at a beach last month in Australia, mentioned in the 2017-08-06 update, I thought this was worth noting. Mutated people-eating sea lice was the premise of the 2012 movie 'The Bay' too, which is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Sea lice are infecting and killing off salmon now in the Pacific Northwest too. These things are ancient and have survived numerous extinction events, so whereas the vast majority of species will be expunged, these things may actually do pretty well, possibly at our expense. They sure seem to be doing pretty well so far...

Can Bankrupt Puerto Rico Afford Another Hurricane?

[we're as broke as they are, while we print whatever money we need with nothing to back it up]

Puerto Rico, already trying to dig itself out of a historic financial crisis, is now facing a direct hit by a major hurricane that could destroy any progress the U.S. territory has made under a year-old economic rehab plan ─ and set it back further.

Hurricane Maria is forecast to hit Puerto Rico early Wednesday, testing the local government's ability to respond to a humanitarian disaster. While the Caribbean island of 3.4 million people is accustomed to tropical storms, it hasn't been hit by a Category 4 or 5 hurricane since 1928.

The territory's infrastructure has gone neglected for years, and in July its power company defaulted on a debt-restructuring deal. When Hurricane Irma skirted Puerto Rico this month, more than 1 million people were left without power, and many of them could remain in the dark for months, officials have said. [more]
