Event Update For 2017-09-04

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2017-09-04 - Large parts of the western side of North America are burning:
http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2017/09/the-west-is-on-fire.html

Note: I mentioned some time ago that this is how North America would burn, from west to east. That's because of the rotation of the Earth. As the Pacific Ocean spews methane and hydrogen sulfide, the wind blows west-to-east and the gases blow ashore and hit the western coast of North America first, then fires break out. Over time, eventually everything will have burned on the west coast and the fires will spread eastward. That doesn't mean that in the meantime there won't be some serious fires farther east too though. There'll be some of those as well, like the largest fire in Kansas history that erupted before fire season began this year, and the gigantic fires burning in British Columbia in Canada. But overall, the trend will be for larger fires in the west, spreading toward the east as time marches on. We're already seeing that happen. The same scenario is playing out elsewhere too, for example in Portugal, which is sort of like the California of that area of Europe, so Portugal will burn first and hardest, with the fires spreading eastward into Spain, and that's what we saw this year. Another example: the huge fires that have burned in Chile. Chile is sort of like the California of South America, on the west coast. And so on...

Powerful Hurricane Irma hits first Caribbean islands
    http://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/powerful-hurricane-irma-hits-first-caribbean-islands/ar-AArmLzU

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua (AP) — The most powerful Atlantic Ocean hurricane in recorded history made its first landfall in the islands of the northeast Caribbean early Wednesday, churning along a path pointing to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba before possibly heading for Florida over the weekend.
The eye of Hurricane Irma passed over Barbuda around 1:47 a.m., the National Weather Service said. Residents said over local radio that phone lines went down. Heavy rain and howling winds raked the neighboring island of Antigua, sending debris flying as people huddled in their homes or government shelters.

In Barbuda, the storm ripped off the roof of the island's police station forcing officers to seek refuge in the nearby fire station and at the community center that served as an official shelter. The Category 5 storm also knocked out communication between islands.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 kph), according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. Its forecast early Wednesday was for the winds to fluctuate slightly but for the storm to remain at Category 4 or 5 strength for the next day or two. The most dangerous winds, usually nearest to the eye, were forecast to pass near the northern Virgin Islands and near or just north of Puerto Rico through the day Wednesday. [more]

The hottest summer on record has reduced southern Alberta crops by as much as 30 per cent below average, states a provincial report.

While crops in the province’s north have flourished due to sufficient rains and timely hot weather, those in many places in the south have struggled, said Mark Cutts, a crop specialist with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry. [more; crickets from SOTT]

Trump EPA cuts funding to newspaper in retaliation for reporting on proposed budget
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/09/trump-epa-cuts-funding-to-newspaper-in.html

For nearly three decades, the Environmental Protection Agency has funded the Bay Journal, a publication with a print circulation of 50,000 focused on covering environmental issues in the Chesapeake Bay.
Since its inception in 1991, and through four presidential administrations, the EPA financially backed the monthly newspaper — until last month when, without warning, the agency cut off the Bay Journal’s funding.
"If this brings about the demise of the Bay Journal, it will be a devastating loss," said Will Baker, president of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
The cancellation of the $325,000 grant to the Bay Journal may just be one small piece of EPA chief Scott Pruitt’s “back-to-basics” effort to reorient the agency toward its bare-bones, statutory responsibilities. But some Chesapeake Bay environmentalists note the decision comes shortly off the heels of the Bay Journal’s scrutinizing coverage of President Trump’s environmental priorities. Smoke forces Crystal Mountain Resort to close as fires rage in Central Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/09/smoke-forces-crystal-mountain-resort-to.html

A wildfire in Central Washington has crossed the border into Canada. The Diamond Creek fire, near the Canadian border in the Okanogan/Wenatchee National Forest, has burned more than more than 68,000 acres and is affecting air quality in the Methow Valley. Crystal Mountain Resort closed Monday due to smoke from the Norse Peak fire, burning about 125 miles southeast of Seattle.

The Jolly Mountain fire, near Cle Elum, is smaller but is posing a bigger threat to public safety, according to fire officials. More than 1,000 people have been evacuated due to the blaze which is threatening more than 380 homes and has prompted Gov. Jay Inslee to declare a state of emergency.

In Oregon, the Eagle Creek fire  had consumed more than 3,000 acres of steep, dry land by Sunday, and about 140 hikers were stranded Saturday night on a popular hiking trail in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. As those hikers were being safely reunited Sunday with family, residents of about 130 homes in Cascade Locks were under evacuation orders because of the smoke and flames.

Mike Stearly, a public-information officer for Northwest Interagency Coordination Center, said Saturday the Chetco Bar fire was being fought by 1,700 people and had displaced 5,000 residents. Another group of Josephine County residents were being told to prepare to leave their homes if necessary. [more]

Aside from the direct cost of denialism, herein lies the problem:

For the least competent president in history, navigating the imminent fiscal cliff is getting harder by the weather forecast. Since he boxed himself in by saying that he would shut down government over the wall, the costs of hurricane relief have skyrocketed. How he manages to navigate this imminent financial debacle remains to be seen.  [more]
