Event Update For 2017-05-21

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Dang, Jonny - this is a pretty devastating report, especially for PA! Cheese-zoo, we have people dropping dead near many of our waterways, people crashing into each other, buildings and parked vehicles, fires all over the place, and more. Still, CA and FL are probably worse, but I don't live there.

Well, here we go again, documenting the road to our demise:

Thomas Chrowder Chamberlin, 1899: "It now becomes necessary to assign agencies capable of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere..."

More about Chamberlin: He was the first to demonstrate that the only way to understand climate change was to understand almost everything about the planet together — not just the air but the oceans, the volcanoes bringing gases from the deep interior, the chemistry of how minerals gradually disintegrated under weathering, and more.

Chamberlin's novel hypothesis was that ice ages might follow a self-oscillating cycle driven by feedbacks involving CO2.

  2. oh come on - you mean I lost two comments today?

  3. Well, that explains why I was waiting for [more below] but never got any - boo, internet!

  4. Here's a possible solution to the occasionally disappearing posts problem for you to consider.

You could go here and create an account:

Use any name you want. If it asks for an email address, put in anything you want, doesn't have to be real - it's set not to verify, cuz I don't care what people's email addresses are. In other words, if you use the email address, it should accept that. The restriction that you have to have an account to post is solely to weed out spam, and it does weed out about 99% of the spam.

Then you can create a thread and call it Tom's Contributions (or whatever you like), and you can post in that thread FIRST, then cut-and-paste from that thread to here. Then if it doesn't get through here, it'll still be there. And as a side benefit, you can actually edit your posts there, and your links will also be clickable there.

Your call - just pointing out the option. I know how frustrating it can be to make a post and then it just disappears.

  5. Great idea, Jonny - I'll give it a try.

  6. okay, I've created my account name: Tom and password, but how do I "create a thread" - I don't see any button for that (and i'm a complete DUNCE when it comes to computers).

  7. Click on the 'General Discussion' forum, then on the right you should (I hope) see a blue button on the right that says 'New Topic'. Click that button, then give it a title, etc. Lemme know if you have any probs or other questions!

  8. Did I mention 'on the right'?! Heh, apparently I should get a job at the Office of Redundancy Office.

Also, once you create your thread, then you can later go back to that same thread and click the 'addreply' button (on the right when you're inside a thread), to add posts to that thread, so you can addreply, make your post(s) each day, then cut and paste the posts over to here as you make them there. Like a backup of the data, sorta.

There IS a limit to how big a post can be, but it's fairly big. Of course, if you're going to copy the data to a comment here, I think the limit here is even smaller, so you might have to split things into multiple posts to get them over to here, as you have been here anyway.

  9. Good stuff! Thanks.
